Phu Quoc is widely known as a relaxing beach destination, so you won't find an overwhelming list of tourist hotspots here. Since I am not a huge fan of crowded theme parks, I spent most of my time exploring the Grand World area in the north. However, there was one unique experience I couldn't pass up: the Night Safari! The moment I heard you could feed giraffes under the stars, I knew I had to book a ticket.

As a solo traveler trying to keep my budget tight, I decided to book directly through the official app and navigate the journey on my own using Grab. Long story short: save yourself the headache and book through an online travel agency (OTA) instead. Doing it myself was highly inconvenient, and the price difference is practically non-existent. Here is my honest guide on how to plan your visit smoothly.

How to Book via the Official App

First, you will need to download the VinWonders application on your phone.

If your default location is set to VinWonders Hanoi, make sure to manually switch it to VinWonders Phu Quoc.

Once you see VinWonders Phu Quoc at the top, you are good to go.

Tap the "+" button at the bottom, head over to the amenities section, and select "Buy Tickets."

Choose your preferred date for the Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc visit.

You will find a wide variety of ticket types. I opted for the standard "Night Safari Tour." The official price is 950,000 VND, which converts to approximately ~$35.

Keep in mind that other options like the VIP Tour, Junior Zoo Keeper Workshop, or Giraffe Restaurant dining packages are daytime-only experiences. If you want the evening experience, make sure to specifically choose the Night Safari Tour.

The Night Safari runs multiple slots from 07:00 PM to 08:10 PM. I highly recommend booking the earliest slot (07:00 PM). It is by far the most popular, and the atmosphere feels much livelier. Later slots tend to have very few people.

You can easily pay with Visa or Mastercard. Simply enter your name, email address, phone number, and card details to complete the transaction.

The final charge came out to exactly ~$36. It is on the pricier side for local tours, but definitely worth it for the unique experience.

Once booked, you will receive a QR code via email. Pro-tip: the mobile signal can be quite spotty around the forested safari area, so make sure to screenshot your QR code before you head out!

But honestly, you do not need to go through the hassle of using the official app.

If you check Klook, you can book the exact same Night Safari Tour for around ~$34, which is actually cheaper than the official price of ~$36 due to their ongoing discounts.

I only booked through the official app to show you guys how to do it! Save yourself the trouble of installing another app and just book it on Klook. The booking on Klook is fixed for the popular 07:25 PM slot, which is perfect.

Now, let's talk about the easiest way to get to the safari and back.

How to Get to Vinpearl Safari

The most straightforward option is booking a Grab Taxi. Note that alternative ride-hailing apps like InDrive do not operate in Phu Quoc.

The ride from Grand World to Vinpearl Safari is roughly 3 miles (5km) and cost me about 66,500 VND (~$3). It's very affordable, and a driver usually gets assigned within 5 minutes.

Getting there is easy, but getting back can be a bit tricky. Once the night safari ended, it was pitch black outside and I was slightly worried about finding a ride. Fortunately, there is a very easy solution.

There are electric buggy cars waiting right outside the safari entrance. The drivers will approach you and ask where you are heading. Since catching a standard taxi can be tough in the dark, I negotiated a ride back to Grand World for 70,000 VND (~$3). I was back at my hotel in less than 10 minutes.

I ended up having the entire buggy to myself, making for a very breezy and comfortable ride back. Even past 08:00 PM, there were still 2 or 3 buggies waiting, so you don't have to worry about getting stranded. A fair price to agree on is around ~$3 to ~$5 per person.

Before coming here, I read some online reviews claiming that there were "no animals to see" or that "it was too dark to enjoy." Let me tell you, those reviews are completely wrong!

The safari guides use special spotlights that allow you to see zebras, deer, and even tigers incredibly clearly. Plus, because Phu Quoc is so hot during the day, the cooler night temperature actually made the tour much more comfortable.
