Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc
Your Guide to Tickets, the Zoo Tram & Top Tips
- Day 3 -
Our third day in Phu Quoc took us on an exciting safari adventure! 🇻🇳
We had the ultimate convenience of a pre-booked private car and driver for the entire day, making our journey incredibly smooth.
Getting up close with elephants and giraffes was an absolute highlight! 🐘🦒

✅ This guide includes all our personal tips, from booking tickets and securing the best safari bus seats to recommended visiting times and dining options.
1. Starting from the South of Phu Quoc
Vinpearl Safari is located in the northern part of Phu Quoc, so we set off early from our accommodation in the south. The drive took us about 80 minutes.

Our driver kindly recommended a cafe with a nice view, allowing us to grab some coffee to go along the way.

While it was touted as a 'view restaurant,' the scenery wasn't particularly stunning. It was King Kong Coffee, located across from King Kong Mart, and the coffee itself was quite good. ☕️
2. Why a Private Car Rental is a Must-Do

Traveling from the south to the north, we passed through the central area, which was noticeably busier with more traffic.
Our itinerary for the day was packed: Safari - Grand World - Massage - King Kong Mart Shopping - Duong Dong Night Market - Dinner at a local restaurant - Return to our accommodation. Having a private car rental for the entire day made it incredibly comfortable and stress-free. 🚘
After shopping at King Kong Mart, visiting the night market, and returning to our southern hotel, having a dedicated driver meant we didn't have to scramble for Grabs or wait around in the busy central areas.

While couples might manage with taxis, I highly recommend a private car, especially if you're traveling with family. The cost was also incredibly reasonable – around ~$77 for four people for the entire day, which was fantastic!

3. Discover Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc
This incredible park is Vietnam's largest wildlife conservation area, home to approximately 150 species and over 3,000 animals.

We've arrived! Our driver told us he'd wait here and to call him when we were done. There was even a lively music performance happening near the entrance, setting a fun mood as we walked in.

After a quick restroom break, we simply scanned our QR codes from the tickets we'd pre-booked online and walked right in.
✅ Booking details are further down in this post!

Our journey began with the beautiful flamingos right at the entrance!
4. Exploring with the Phu Quoc Zoo Tram
After a brief look around, we headed straight for the Zoo Tram station.

Since our admission ticket included the Zoo Tram, we exchanged our QR code for a physical wristband ticket at the (pictured) right-hand counter.

Time to set off!

The Zoo Tram is an open-air vehicle that takes you through the safari, allowing you to see animals up close. The best part? You can hop on and off freely at various points throughout the park.

We spotted chimpanzees and deer enjoying their day,

passed a large lake, and even saw a Malayan tapir.
5. The Reptile Zone

We decided to hop off the tram at an intermediate stop and discovered the Reptile Zone.

We saw iguanas lounging comfortably,

and a massive giant tortoise that was almost a little intimidating!
Stepping outside, we found ourselves in the Crocodile Zone. Better watch your step around these guys! 🐊🐊

The weather was pleasant, not too hot, making it perfect for walking around after hopping off the tram.
6. The Elephant Zone

Next, we encountered some adorable elephants.

This elephant seemed very interested in people's hands, likely hoping for a treat from a feeding program. 🐘
It was a pity it couldn't come closer. Wishing these magnificent creatures a happy life!

We hopped back on the Zoo Tram right in front of the elephant enclosure.

We snapped a quick souvenir photo! We also saw camels, and my husband was quite amazed at how large they were. I wonder where I'd seen them before? 🐫🐫

Feeling cheerful, we took another family photo 🩵, and then it was time for my personal highlight: meeting the giraffes!
7. The Open Zoo Giraffe Restaurant
Deep inside the Open Zoo, we found the Giraffe Restaurant! We could see the giraffes from afar, and they truly are enormous.

This area was bustling with people, a testament to the giraffes' popularity. They, however, were only interested in their snacks!

We spent a few seconds right in front of them, and I don't think I'd ever been this close to a giraffe before.

Despite the crowd and the slight chaos, this was the most memorable part of our visit! 🦒🦒
8. How to Book Your Tickets in Advance

Here's our personal booking confirmation! ★
By booking your tickets in advance online, you can skip the long queues at the entrance and often secure a better price.

We were perfectly happy with our Vinpearl Safari + Zoo Tram ticket, but if you're visiting during peak season, a Fast Pass might be worth considering.
(Make sure your ticket includes the Zoo Tram for immediate access!)

9. The Safari Bus Experience
Many people were having lunch at the Giraffe Restaurant, but we decided to hold out for a restaurant near the entrance, as the Giraffe Restaurant had a distinct smell and the food didn't look particularly appealing. 🍚

I actually didn't realize there was a separate Safari Bus tour, but my father-in-law suddenly insisted we take it, saying he really wanted to try it (so sweet!). So, we embarked on the safari tour. 🚌

Here's a tip for seating: the left side, specifically the row behind the driver, offers the best views of the animals. The rear seats are also popular for their wider vantage point.

✔️ On this tour, you'll pass through areas with predators like lions, bears, and tigers, followed by zones where herbivores like rhinos, zebras, and deer roam freely.

We saw a bear sprawled out, taking a nap,

and even made eye contact with a sitting bear!
10. Lions, Zebras & More!

The lions seemed to be enjoying their afternoon siesta in the sun, sleeping peacefully.

Their sleeping poses were so funny and cute, reminding me of a lazy housecat! 🦁

Wait, was that a wave with its paw? 🐾

We also saw more giraffes here (aww, a baby giraffe!),

and so many rhinos!

This zebra somehow looked a little disgruntled.
While some animals looked a bit confined, I was relieved to see that the park makes an effort to maintain semi-natural habitats and cares for their well-being.
( =·͈ ᴥ ·͈= )
May all the animals live happily ever after!
11. Souvenir Shop

As someone who collects a meaningful plushie from every trip, I really wanted to buy a giraffe here, but I couldn't find one I liked, so I passed... 🥲
The quality of the plushies was a bit disappointing, but sometimes that's how it goes!
12. Lunchtime Refuel
If the Giraffe Restaurant doesn't quite appeal to you, I highly recommend this restaurant near the entrance instead.

RHINO 🍽️
It was clean and the food was surprisingly good. The prices weren't overly expensive either!

We tried noodle dishes, kimchi fried rice, dumplings, and french fries – everything was better than expected and we enjoyed our meal.

For your reference, here's a picture of the menu and prices: :)

After our meal, our driver picked us up, and we comfortably headed to Grand World!
13. Key Takeaways for Your Vinpearl Safari Trip
Here's a quick recap of our Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc experience, including Zoo Tram tips and more:

⏰ To see animals at their most active before they seek shade or nap in the afternoon heat, plan your visit between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
🚌 For the best views on the Safari Bus, try to get a seat on the left side, rather than the right. You'll be closer to more animals!
🚙 If your itinerary involves a lot of moving around, hiring a private driver + car for the day is incredibly convenient and comfortable. (See details above for more info!)
⭐️ The ZOO TRAM is a must-do! We highly recommend pre-booking your tickets that include the tram; it's often cheaper and lets you skip the ticket line at the park entrance.
