Our first day in Athens, Greece, was a whirlwind!🇬🇷
After landing, we hopped on the X95 bus from the airport straight into the city center. We checked into our hotel, The Athens Gate, dropped off our bags, and immediately set off for the Acropolis!
We had connected through Emirates, and the long journey from the airport combined with exploring the Acropolis all in one go left us both completely drained by the time we finished sightseeing.
After wrapping up our Acropolis visit, we started looking for a dinner spot. My partner pulled up Google Maps to find a highly-rated local restaurant nearby, and that's how we discovered Victory!✨

It was only about a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis, so we took our time, enjoying the charming Athenian streets as we headed towards the restaurant.
Victory: A Must-Try Restaurant in Athens, Greece
We spotted the bright red Victory sign as we walked down the alley.
By the time we arrived at the restaurant, we were genuinely exhausted and probably not making much sense, haha. But when the staff saw us, they immediately asked if we’d had a tough day, noticing how tired we looked…!
This was our very first meal in Greece, and the fact that they approached us so kindly and treated us with such warmth made Victory an even more memorable spot.💙
Victory's Menu & Our Order
The menu was quite extensive, featuring everything from coffee and drinks to sandwiches, pizza, and classic Greek dishes.
From the Greek food section, we chose Souvlaki and Moussaka. To complete the experience, we also ordered a couple of Greek Mythos beers.🍺
And just like that, our first Greek meal—Souvlaki and Moussaka—was served!
Souvlaki
This iconic Greek dish features grilled meat on a skewer, typically served with pita bread and tzatziki. The meat was incredibly tender, not at all dry, and perfectly savory. It paired wonderfully with the creamy tzatziki and our Mythos beer.🍺
Moussaka
Moussaka is a rich, baked dish made with layers of eggplant, minced meat, and a flavorful tomato sauce, all topped with a creamy béchamel sauce. It’s often described as a Greek lasagna, with its distinct layers creating a delightful texture. The soft eggplant and the deep, savory flavor of the meat sauce were truly unique and delicious, especially for a first-time Greek food experience!
A Sweet Surprise: Complimentary Ice Cream
After finishing our meal and settling the bill, we were getting ready to leave when the staff asked us to sit back down for a moment. To our delight, they brought us complimentary ice cream!🍨
From the moment the staff kindly greeted us to the surprise ice cream at the end, Victory left a lasting impression. This was our first restaurant experience in Greece, and it was truly special. Our happy memory of this Athens gem is complete!✨

After finishing the meal and paying the bill, as I was about to leave, a staff member asked me to sit down for a moment and offered me ice cream. This friendly service left a lasting impression.
