Victoria Peak Tram Guide 2026: Tickets & Sky Terrace
Maximize your Victoria Peak experience with our 2026 guide! Discover Peak Tram ticket prices, fast-track tips, and the best time for Sky Terrace views.

Hey explorers! Welcome back.
If there's one thing you absolutely cannot miss during your Hong Kong trip, it's the mesmerizing night skyline.
And when it comes to the ultimate viewpoints, Sky Terrace 428 is a must-visit destination.
Perched at a breathtaking 1,404 feet above sea level, you can reach this incredible observation deck by riding the iconic Victoria Peak Tram.
Today, I'm sharing my complete 2026 guide to the Victoria Peak Tram, including ticket booking tips, pricing, and my personal review of the Sky Terrace night view.
1. Booking Your Tickets

When you search for "Hong Kong night views," Sky Terrace is almost always the top result.
To get there, you generally have two options: take a taxi or ride the historical Peak Tram.
While a taxi might be slightly cheaper if you're traveling in a group of 3-4, riding the Peak Tram is a quintessential Hong Kong experience. I highly recommend taking the tram at least once!
Keep in mind that you need separate tickets for the Peak Tram and the Sky Terrace.

Because this is one of Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions, the lines for the Peak Tram are notoriously long.
During weekends, public holidays, or peak tourist seasons, you could spend a significant amount of time just waiting to buy a ticket. That's why booking in advance is absolutely essential.

I booked my tickets through Klook. Not only did I get a better rate than the on-site box office, but I also received a QR code that allowed me to scan and enter directly without waiting at the ticket exchange counter!

✅ Peak Tram Round Trip + Sky Terrace On-Site Prices
Adult: 182 HKD (~$26)
Child/Senior: 118 HKD (~$17)
Klook Advance Booking Prices:
Adult: ~$25
Child/Senior: ~$16

If you opt for a fast-track option like the VIP Pass, you can skip the massive queues and board the Peak Tram almost immediately.
Think of it like a Lightning Lane pass at Disney—it's a massive time-saver.
During peak seasons, the standard wait time can easily stretch to over an hour. If you're traveling with kids or older family members, investing in a fast-track ticket is definitely the way to go.
One pro tip: The views from Victoria Peak are heavily dependent on the weather. Instead of booking weeks in advance, check the daily forecast and book your digital tickets on the day of your visit.

2. Riding the Peak Tram

I visited on a weekday about an hour before sunset. Even though this is arguably the busiest time of day, I was able to walk right in without a long wait.
I just scanned the QR code from my email at the turnstile—no need to visit the physical ticket counter.

Trams run every 10 to 15 minutes. The carriages are surprisingly long, so they can accommodate a large number of passengers at once.

Here is one of the most important tips for the Peak Tram: Sit on the right side! (And try to get the same side on the way down).
The right side offers spectacular, unobstructed views of the Hong Kong skyline as you ascend. Seats fill up fast, so make a beeline for the right side as soon as the doors open.

Once the tram starts moving, the incline gets incredibly steep. At certain points, you almost feel like you're lying flat on your back! It's a really fun and unique sensation.
While you'll see similar views from the Sky Terrace, watching the skyscrapers tilt as you climb up the mountain is an experience in itself.
3. Arriving at The Peak

Reaching the top feels like stepping into a different world.
Beyond just the observation deck, there's a multi-level complex featuring a shopping mall, souvenir shops, and plenty of dining options.

Surprisingly, the prices here were quite reasonable.
I actually found that souvenirs like magnets and keychains were cheaper here than in some parts of downtown Hong Kong.
If you have the time, I highly recommend arriving an hour early just to browse the shops before heading up for the sunset.
4. Sky Terrace 428 Night View

Take the escalators all the way to the top floor to find the entrance to the Sky Terrace observation deck.
Just show your QR code to the staff one more time, and you're in! :)

I entered the Sky Terrace about 30 minutes before sunset.
The crowds were already starting to build up, and once the sun dipped below the horizon, it got absolutely packed.

Offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, Sky Terrace never fails to impress. Even though it was my second time visiting, the skyline looked just as exotic and breathtaking.
While the night view is famous, the daytime panorama is equally stunning.

Finding a prime spot right against the glass can be a challenge, as space is limited. Once it gets dark, it's nearly impossible to squeeze in.
The best strategy is to claim your spot 15 to 20 minutes before sunset. This way, you get to witness the daytime view, the golden hour, and the dazzling night skyline all from the best vantage point.
No matter where you stand, the view stretching all the way across Victoria Harbour to Tsim Sha Tsui is unmatched. It truly is the premier observation deck in Hong Kong.

To be fair, there are free viewing areas lower down the mountain. However, they don't offer the same unobstructed, sweeping views as the Sky Terrace, and they can get so crowded that securing a good spot feels even harder than paying for the top deck.

Watching the city transition from dusk to night as the skyscrapers light up one by one is an unforgettable experience.
The only downside is that once you secure a good spot, you can't really leave it, meaning you might be standing for quite a while. But trust me, the view is entirely worth the wait.
5. The Descent

After you've soaked in the night view, you can take a relaxing stroll through the nearby park or grab a bite in the mall.
There's a Starbucks and plenty of great restaurants if you want to unwind. :)

When it was time to head down, there was a bit of a rush, resulting in a 20-minute wait for the tram.
Riding down backwards feels surprisingly faster and is a fun way to end the trip!
The Peak Tram and Sky Terrace combo is an easy, must-do activity for any Hong Kong itinerary.
Because it's so incredibly popular, I can't stress enough how important it is to book skip-the-line tickets in advance.
