Many of you, I'm sure, feel that a trip to Hong Kong simply isn't complete without a visit to Disneyland, right?

But when you try to book your Disneyland tickets, you might notice that the prices and types vary by date.

This can make it a little tricky to decide which one to choose.

Today, I'll be sharing all about the types of Hong Kong Disneyland admission tickets and my personal experience, including wait times when I visited without a FastPass (or DPA)!

Hong Kong Disneyland Admission Tickets: Types and Tiers

First, let's explore the different Hong Kong Disneyland ticket types and understand why their prices vary.

Hong Kong Disneyland admission tickets operate on a tiered system, meaning the price of your ticket will fluctuate depending on the season.

There are four tiers in total, from 1 to 4. Tier 1 represents the off-peak season and is the most affordable, while Tier 4 is the super peak season and the most expensive.

Typically, holiday seasons fall into Tiers 3-4, and Tuesdays to Thursdays are categorized as Tiers 1-2. So, if you can, visiting on a weekday is usually cheaper and less crowded!

Next, let's break down the ticket types and their price ranges in the table below.

Currently, there are six types of tickets available.

Among these, the essential tickets for entry are the Admission Ticket or the 2-Day Admission Ticket. These are your must-have tickets, granting you access to Disneyland for either one day or two consecutive days.

If you're planning to visit for two days in a row, the 2-Day Admission Ticket offers much better value for money.

On the other hand, if you're visiting as a pair, I highly recommend opting for the 2-Person Package. It's slightly more affordable than buying two individual admission tickets, and it comes with an 80 HKD meal voucher, making it a much more cost-effective choice.

The remaining three tickets are optional add-ons, not essential for entry.

The Early Park Entry Pass, as its name suggests, allows you to enter the park an hour earlier. This means you can get a head start and ride popular attractions like World of Frozen

This ticket can offer good value depending on the situation.

There are also Fastpass (DPA) 3 and 8 options.

These tickets dramatically cut down your waiting time for attractions,

and need to be booked separately from your admission ticket.

One thing to note is that you don't get to ride any 3 or 8 attractions you want;

instead, they are for pre-assigned attractions, so make sure to check the lineup before booking!

Can You Visit Without a Fastpass DPA?

Are you wondering if you really need a Fastpass when heading to Hong Kong Disneyland?

Let me share my experience visiting without a DPA.

I went on a Sunday during the first week of May, which was China's Labor Day holiday – a Tier 4 date.

Since it was one of the most expensive ticket days, I expected Hong Kong Disneyland to be incredibly crowded.

However, when we arrived around 1 PM, heavy rain started pouring, so it felt like there weren't as many people as expected.

After the rain stopped, the first attraction we rode was Frozen Ever After in Arendelle: World of Frozen, and the waiting time was listed as approximately 60 minutes.

As one of Hong Kong Disneyland's most popular attractions, the wait time didn't really decrease, and we actually waited for over 50 minutes.

Still, as an iconic Hong Kong Disneyland attraction, the ride quality was excellent, and it was really fun!

After that, we rode attractions like Ant-Man, Iron Man, Mystic Manor, and Winnie the Pooh.

Overall, the waiting times for these attractions were generally 10-20 minutes.

It wasn't long at all, so it was definitely worth the wait.

After enjoying some attractions, we headed to the theater just in time for The Lion King

musical.

Even 30 minutes before it started, the queue was already incredibly long, and since this wasn't a

DPA-eligible show, everyone had to wait their turn to enjoy it.

The musical itself was absolutely superb in quality,

easily matching or even surpassing shows I've paid good money to see!

My Experience Without a FastPass?

Even though I didn't use a FastPass and

entered during the peak season in the afternoon,

I still managed to go on plenty of attractions and

thoroughly enjoyed the musical!

Of course, it was a really rainy day, which probably meant the

queues weren't too bad even during peak season.

But I imagine on a typical day, it would be about 1.5 times more

crowded than this!

Personally, if your main goal is the Frozen Ever After attraction, I'd recommend using an

Early Park Entry ticket rather than a FastPass.

If you're visiting with children and want to experience a wider variety of attractions,

then trying a DPA (Disney Premier Access) might be a good option for you.
