My trip to Osaka, Japan, this past July
To put it in one word, it was scorching hot, so much so that
I practically melted from the heat... ^ㅠ^
For my upcoming August trip to Osaka,
I'm planning to visit Universal Studios Japan!
An itinerary that involves an "open run" from morning
and walking around all day...
Honestly, that's not exactly easy, is it?
For those with low stamina like me,
or if you've been to Universal before and want a different experience,
or even if you're just sensitive to the heat,
the evening admission ticket from 3 PM is absolutely perfect!
Osaka in August means intense midday sun and heat,
so entering from the morning can really drain your energy!
Last time, I did an "open run" and ended up
so exhausted that I left by 4 PM,
and I couldn't help but wonder if it was even worth it!
By using an afternoon or evening admission ticket,
you can largely avoid the peak heat of the day,
and still fully enjoy the parades, summer night shows,
and the incredible night atmosphere of USJ!
+ Plus, you can now enter Super Mario World even without a timed entry ticket!
If your goal isn't to ride every single attraction,
but rather to soak in the fantastic Universal atmosphere,
then I highly recommend the 3 PM evening admission ticket!

The ticket that grants you entry from 3 PM is called the

While the entry time is shorter than a standard ticket,
it helps reduce the cost,

so it's definitely best to purchase them in advance!

Why Choose an Evening Admission Ticket for Universal Studios?
August in Osaka is incredibly hot –
you'll feel exhausted just walking for a short while during the day.
At USJ, you spend a lot of time moving outdoors, not just indoors,
and there are many spots with little to no shade
while waiting for parades.
While it's still warm if you enter at 3 PM,
you'll definitely reduce the physical strain
compared to arriving in the morning!
For starters, the sun sets later and the operating hours are extended,
meaning you can pack in plenty of fun right up until closing!
As the sun gradually lowers, the lighting for photos becomes absolutely stunning
from the afternoon into the evening. And once it gets dark,
the park lights up, creating a completely different, magical atmosphere!
Especially during summer in August, you'll find a fantastic array of water-based shows
and nighttime events, offering even more ways to dive into the fun! +_+
Universal Studios Timed Entry Passes
If you enter at 3 PM,
resist the urge to snap photos right away! Your first priority should be checking the app.
The very first thing to check is whether you need a timed entry pass for Super Nintendo World.
On crowded days, Super Nintendo World
isn't freely accessible without one.
Good news! It seems Super Nintendo World is currently accessible
without a timed entry pass!
Still, it's always wise to double-check on the app as soon as you enter, just to be safe.
August USJ Parade Schedule
The 2026 Summer Parade kicks off
at 4:15 PM!
The show lasts for about 40 minutes,
so we highly recommend moving to your chosen parade viewing spot
by 4 PM at the very latest.
If you're aiming for the very front row,
you'll need to stake out your spot a bit earlier.
However, the parade route is quite long, so you actually get a great view from almost anywhere!
That said, if you have a choice,
it's generally more convenient to position yourself
closer to the parade's starting point rather than in the middle of the route.
After the parade concludes,
you can quickly make your way to your next destination.
Plus, you'll finish watching earlier than those in the later sections,
giving you a head start on getting to the attractions!
With an afternoon ticket, your time is limited, so it's tough to try and explore every single zone.
It's best to decide which shows you really want to see first,
then check the wait times for your must-ride attractions and go for them.
A quick tip: since the weather right now is incredibly hot,
wait times are much shorter than during the day!
In August, starting around 6:30 PM,
the summer night events begin!

Hello! Neon Summer Greeting,
to Summer Night Bubble Fantasy,
you can truly soak in the summer vibe!
At 8:55 PM,
there's even the Summer Glow Moment Fireworks,
so make sure you catch it :)
Since showtimes can sometimes overlap,
it's a good idea to prioritize before you enter.
This will save you time on the spot.
Additionally, don't miss out on limited-time attractions like Club Zed or Jujutsu Kaisen!
How many rides can you do with an afternoon ticket?
It varies depending on how crowded the park is on your visit day, but
if you want to catch both the parades and the night shows,
it'll be tough to ride all the popular attractions.
Focus on attractions with shorter wait times,
and you might be able to enjoy one or two rides.
Using the rest of your time to watch parades and shows is a great option.
However, if you *do* decide to skip the parades,
because everyone else will be flocking to them,
the ride wait times will be even shorter,
so you could potentially ride a lot more!
If you dream of riding Mario Kart, The Flying Dinosaur,
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and even Donkey Kong,
and you want to experience them all,
then I recommend a standard day pass.
An afternoon ticket is less about conquering all the rides and
more about soaking in the park's atmosphere.
By the way, when you leave,
don't forget to claim your tax refund :)

For Universal Studios Japan in Osaka in August,
I found that staying all day was just too exhausting.

I personally found the summer weather in Osaka
so hot that it was incredibly tiring.
Exploring Osaka city in the morning, doing some shopping,
then visiting USJ in the afternoon
was the perfect itinerary for me!
Quick tip: simple water and snacks are allowed,
so grab some iced water from a convenience store before you go! :)
