because you can often enter for free with various passes!

Today, I'm thrilled to share my review of visiting the Kuchu Teien Observatory
using the Kansai Joy Pass, and I'll even show you the stunning daytime scenery of Osaka!

How to Get to the Umeda Sky Building Kuchu Teien Observatory
Next up, I'll guide you through how to get to the Umeda Sky Building Kuchu Teien Observatory.

Once you arrive at Umeda Station, make your way towards Exit 5, just like you see in the picture.

You'll then spot an escalator with signs for Uniqlo, GU, and more –
take this escalator up.

You'll then see the gleaming Sky Building, just like in the photo –
simply follow the building, and you'll be there!
How to Enter the Umeda Sky Building Kuchu Teien Observatory

Entering the Kuchu Teien Observatory is super easy!
Once you arrive at the entrance, you'll spot a transparent
connecting bridge, just like in the photo.
That's the pathway to catch the elevator up to the Kuchu Teien Observatory.
I visited in the morning and experienced absolutely no wait,
but be aware that queues can get incredibly long as the 3 PM admission deadline for the Osaka Amazing Pass approaches!

Head through the entrance and take the escalator upwards
to the 3rd floor.

For your reference, while the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory is open until 10:30 PM,
please note that entry with the Kansai Joy Pass is only valid until 5:00 PM (17:00).

After taking the elevator up to the 35th floor,
you'll then take an escalator up to the 39th floor, where the observatory is located,
and you'll find the ticket counter and entrance there.

If you're using a Kansai Joy Pass like I did,
you can exchange your ticket here.
Just show your QR code, as shown in the picture,
and the staff will take care of exchanging it for your entry ticket.

Simply show your exchanged ticket and you can enter the Floating Garden Observatory.
Just a heads-up: re-entry to the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory
is not permitted, so please keep that in mind!
My Experience Visiting the Observatory During the Daytime
Next up, I'll share my experience visiting the observatory during the daytime.

During the early daytime, there weren't many people at the observatory,
so I could really take my time and enjoy the views at my leisure.

Near the entrance, there's a square window that's perfect
for taking commemorative photos, giving them a lovely 'framed' look.

Interestingly, they were also selling 'love locks' that you can attach,
just like at Namsan Tower in Korea!
If you're visiting with a partner, it could be a lovely romantic gesture to leave one behind.

But more than anything, I think the main view of the Floating Garden Observatory
is the one you get from the café inside.
Not only do you get a stunning city view, but you also see the river,
and it looks like a wonderful spot to relax with some light snacks or drinks.
Personally, I felt that this specific view makes visiting the Floating Garden Observatory
during the daytime an absolute must.

If you go up one more floor from here, you can also visit the outdoor observatory on the rooftop.

Once you're up here, you get a full view of the Umeda Sky Building's incredible architectural structure.
You'll realize that the escalator we took from the 35th floor was actually suspended
in mid-air between the two observatory sections!
Seeing it from this perspective was quite dizzying, in the best way possible!

From the outdoor observatory, with no windows in front of you,
you can gaze at the city skyline with your own eyes.
The sprawling cityscape, stretching from the clear blue sky
all the way to the horizon, felt incredibly refreshing and liberating.

The love locks you bought earlier at the indoor observatory
have a dedicated spot where you can attach them on the outdoor observatory.
Some local visitors were personally attaching theirs,
truly embracing the romantic vibe of the observatory.
A Must-Visit Observatory with the Joy Pass

Today, I shared my recent experience at the Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden Observatory.
Since it's a place you can visit affordably with a pass like the Kansai Joy Pass,
the cost-effectiveness for an observatory was truly excellent,
and the expansive, beautiful views left me completely satisfied.

Especially, visiting a bit earlier in the day
meant there weren't many visitors, making for a relaxed experience,
and it was perfect for leisurely enjoying the view.
After 1:30 PM, when visitors with the Osaka Amazing Pass tend to flock in,
you might face a waiting time of over 20 minutes just to enter,
so I highly recommend visiting earlier if possible!
