Taekwondowon Muju Review 2026: Affordable Family Stay & Activities
Planning a family trip to Muju in 2026? Taekwondowon offers an unbeatable value stay with spacious rooms and engaging activities perfect for all ages.

Muju is the closest ski resort to Gwangju, so I often visit Muju Resort. Naturally, I thought there wouldn't be any rooms available during the Christmas holidays, so while searching for nearby accommodation, Taekwondowon, about 30 minutes away, came to mind.

I had previously used Taekwondowon's ancillary facilities without staying overnight and thought to myself that there were so many things to experience with the kids that I should try staying there next time. It turned out to be a great opportunity, so I made a reservation.
Actually, for a room with beds, based on 4 people, even during the Christmas Eve holiday weekend, it was possible to book for ~$55 ~ ~$69 (depending on room size and bed availability), so I thought it was incredibly good value for money.
Room Rates

Moreover, it was Christmas, so I also had to go to church. If you're only thinking about the ski resort, staying at Muju Resort might be better, but if you're planning a trip to Muju along with skiing, I'd highly recommend staying at Taekwondowon.

When staying overnight, you need to visit the Doyak Center for check-in.

I arrived late at night for check-in after night skiing, and a staff member wasn't there, so I called, and they came right away.
Since it was Christmas Eve, the tree looked even prettier.

Taekwondowon offers not only accommodation but also a wide variety of ancillary facilities.

There were also various facilities within the accommodation.
True to its name as the holy land of World Taekwondo, it was well-equipped with facilities for trainees coming from various countries.
In fact, it wasn't just one building but several large buildings connected.

I thought there were various room types, and the price range offered good value for money.

The restaurant operated on a reservation-only basis.
There are also permanent demonstration performances, so if you have time, I highly recommend watching them.

After receiving the room key, we moved to another building.
It's possible to move between buildings indoors, but since we brought a car, we drove.
Accommodation Entrance

We took the elevator up.

With four beds, a family of four could comfortably stay here.
There are also rooms for larger families, making it a great place to stay during a family trip.
Inside the Room

There's a TV and a refrigerator.
The Wi-Fi works great too.
Tea was also prepared for us to enjoy.

The bedding was clean and cozy, so our second child immediately jumped onto the bed as soon as we entered.

We had late-night chicken that we bought near the resort.
The Next Morning

We took a quick look around the Taekwondowon Doyak Center area.

Seeing it on a bright day gives it a different feel.

I thought many rooms would be empty, but surprisingly, there were many events and guests staying.
High-Ranking Practitioner Priority Parking

It was my first time seeing a parking area like this, so I found it fascinating and took a picture.
Since it's Taekwondowon, they have a priority parking zone for high-ranking practitioners (9th Dan).
Dad of Two's Overall Review
Taekwondowon is a great place for a family trip with kids.
With both bed and Ondol (Korean floor heating) style rooms available, families of four or more can comfortably stay, and it was a great place to lodge with various amenities.
