Sushi Sakaba SASHISU Umeda Review 2026: Osaka's Best Value Sushi

Whether you're a local or a global explorer, Sushi Sakaba SASHISU is an absolute sensation, celebrated for its incredible value and mouthwatering sushi!

It even gained more fame after being featured on popular shows, which means one thing: be prepared for a wait. But trust us, it's worth it!

Location

Finding this gem can be a bit tricky because it's located in an underground shopping mall, which often messes with Google Maps. Your best bet is to head directly to **Whity Umeda B1F NORTH MALL**.

If you spot any of these three signs, you're practically there!

Waiting Experience

I arrived around **12:00 PM on a weekend**, and even with about 10 groups ahead of me, the turnover was surprisingly fast. I was seated after only **about 40 minutes**!

Inside the Restaurant

The restaurant offers a mix of table and counter seating, and while it's not overly spacious, the nature of sushi dining means people tend to eat quickly and move on.

Each seat is thoughtfully equipped with chopsticks, wet wipes, plates, pickled ginger, and wasabi, so you have everything you need right at your fingertips.

The Menu

Ordering is a breeze, even for English speakers, as they provide a menu in English. Since the tables are quite small, I'd recommend ordering a few items at a time rather than everything at once.

As soon as we sat down, we kicked things off with a refreshing draft beer and an orange juice!

Sushi Review

This is their most famous dish: the **Tuna Belly Maki**. It's incredibly tender, rich, and perfectly fatty – a dream for any tuna lover! ❤️ The value for money here is truly outstanding!

Next up, we ordered **Shrimp Yukhoe, Salmon 3-Kind Platter, Flounder, and Beef Sushi**. The service was lightning fast – everything arrived in under 5 minutes!

Many recommended the **Shrimp Yukhoe**, so I gave it a try. While it wasn't fishy and had a nice richness, it wasn't quite my favorite. I found myself wishing I'd just ordered another sushi instead!

The **Salmon Sushi** was on par with the quality you'd find at good sushi spots back home, offering excellent value.

The **Beef Sushi** had a lovely hint of smoky flavor, and the **Flounder** was neither fishy nor tough – both solid choices!

The **Sea Bream** and **Tuna 3-Kind Platter** were also delicious, but honestly, I'd recommend getting another Tuna Belly Maki instead of the Tuna 3-Kind. It was just that good!

Finally, we had the **Salmon Belly Maki** and **Salmon Roe Maki**. Since these were ordered at the very end, I felt a bit overwhelmed by the richness.

Our total bill for all this deliciousness came out to 6,545 JPY, which is about ~$42. While individual pieces offer fantastic value, we clearly got a bit carried away with our ordering, making the total add up!

As a popular chain restaurant and a highly-regarded spot, I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Umeda!
