Sunworld Hotel Wangfujing Review

Are you planning a trip to Beijing and struggling
to figure out where to base yourself?
I recently faced the exact same dilemma
while organizing a family trip to China's sprawling capital.
Choosing the right location was my biggest headache!
Beijing is a massive city, and getting between
the major sights requires a lot of transit time.
After hours of research, my options narrowed down to one prime neighborhood:
Wangfujing (王府井).
As you can see on most maps, Wangfujing is perfectly situated
just east of the Forbidden City, Shichahai, and Nanluoguxiang.
It's also home to massive shopping complexes like APM Mall,
making it incredibly convenient for travelers who want dining and shopping at their doorstep.

Among the dozens of hotels lining the Wangfujing area, I ultimately chose
Sunworld Hotel Wangfujing.
Here were my non-negotiable criteria before booking:
✅ Proximity to APM Mall, major sights, and supermarkets
✅ Reliable luggage storage options
✅ Easy taxi access right at the hotel entrance
✅ Exceptional value for money
First off, being close to APM Mall makes your trip infinitely easier!
Inside APM, you'll find hugely popular spots like Heytea, Chagee,
Starbucks, Grandma's Home (Wai Po Jia), and Long Time No See BBQ.
It's a culinary hub you'll likely visit multiple times.
Since we had a late evening flight back home,
being able to store our bags after check-out was crucial.
Sunworld Hotel offers complimentary luggage storage
both before check-in and after check-out.

Taxis and ride-shares (like Didi) are incredibly affordable in China,
meaning you'll likely use them to get around most of the time.
That makes having a proper drop-off point at the hotel vital.
Sunworld features a spacious driveway where cars can pull right up
to the front doors—a huge relief after a long day of walking!
Finally, we managed to snag a room for under ~$77 per night for two people!
It's an absolutely unbeatable price for this level of comfort.
If you're looking to stretch your travel budget, this is the place.

Let's dive into the detailed Sunworld Hotel stay review.

📌 Sunworld Hotel Wangfujing 天伦松鹤大饭店 Sunworld Hotel 📍 Check-in: 2:00 PM 📍 Check-out: 12:00 PM Location: 88 Dengshikou Ave, 东单 Dongcheng, Beijing |

As a solid 4-star property, Sunworld Hotel
boasts a clean, well-maintained exterior and a surprisingly grand lobby.
Most importantly, we visited during the sweltering 90°F summer heat, and the AC was blasting.
A huge plus for international travelers: the front desk staff speaks English!

We arrived before the 2:00 PM check-in time and asked about an early check-in,
but unfortunately, no cleaned rooms were available yet.
Instead, we seamlessly dropped off our luggage.
The bellhop securely locked our bags together in the storage area,
which gave us great peace of mind. The attention to detail was fantastic!

When we returned after 2:00 PM to finalize check-in,
we noticed a station in the lobby where you can grab complimentary toothbrushes and toothpaste.
✅ Note: Other single-use items like disposable razors
aren't left out, but you can request them to be sent up to your room.
Just give the front desk a quick call if you need them!

The hotel has about three elevators in our wing,
so we never really had to wait long to get to our floor.
The hallways were spotless and completely free of any musty odors!

We booked the Junior Single Room,
and were assigned to Room 738 on the 7th floor.

Despite the "Single" in the name, the Junior Single Room was surprisingly spacious.
There was plenty of floor space to fully open two large suitcases
without having to awkwardly step over them for our entire stay.
Another huge perk: you can leave the AC running while you're out,
so returning to the room after a sweaty day of exploring
feels like stepping into an absolute oasis!

The room came equipped with a comfortable double bed, a desk, a chair, and a small table.
They also provide an electric kettle and one complimentary bottle of water per person, per day.
Since we stayed for two nights, we received four bottles total!
For reference, the outlets easily accept standard 220V plugs, but packing a universal adapter is always a smart move.

The closet housed two bathrobes, a small drying rack, and two pairs of disposable slippers.
I'm never a fan of walking barefoot on hotel carpets,
so having fresh slippers ready to go was a big win!

The bathroom was pleasantly roomy.
The shower area is separated by a glass partition and a curtain to keep the rest of the floor dry.

Amenities included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand towels, face towels, and two large bath towels.
Bar soap and a hair dryer were also provided.
A lot of budget-friendly hotels skip the hair conditioner, so I had packed my own,
but it was great not having to dig it out of my suitcase!
One minor heads-up: the showerhead is fixed to the wall,
so adjusting the angle can be a bit tricky.

Lastly, the view from our window was just the building across the street.
Since we didn't book this hotel for a scenic vista, it wasn't a letdown at all!
During our 3-day, 2-night Beijing trip,
Sunworld Hotel checked every single box on my must-have list.
Despite being under ~$77 a night, the room was spotless and spacious.
The staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring our stay was
completely hassle-free from start to finish.
Having APM Mall just steps away meant we never went hungry,
and the easy taxi access made sightseeing a breeze!
If I ever find myself back in Beijing,
I wouldn't hesitate to book Sunworld Hotel again. Highly recommended!
