Recommended Beijing Restaurants List
Beijing is brimming with fantastic eateries. But finding these gems on Gaode Maps can be tricky, especially when searching in English, right?
That's why today, I'm going to recommend 6 must-try Beijing restaurants, and even share a Gaode Map list of these 6, along with many other amazing Beijing dining spots!
1. Grandma's Home (外婆家) APM Mall Branch
Our first Beijing restaurant recommendation is Grandma's Home (Wai Po Jia).
Its name literally means "grandmother's home," and I think the restaurant truly aims to showcase authentic Chinese home cooking, just like grandma used to make.

The Grandma's Home (Wai Po Jia) I visited is on the 6th floor of APM Mall in Wangfujing.
It's a really popular spot, so be prepared for a wait.
If there's a queue, I recommend grabbing a waiting ticket and then doing some light browsing in APM Mall or perhaps picking up a drink like HeyTea.
(Most restaurants in China allow you to bring in outside food and drinks, like beverages.)

Grandma's Home (Wai Po Jia) offers many Chinese dishes that appeal to a wide range of tastes.
Among them, I'd definitely recommend the Mapo Tofu, stir-fried bok choy, fried rice, vermicelli with stir-fried shrimp, and Hongshao Rou (braised pork belly)!

Especially the vermicelli with stir-fried shrimp and Hongshao Rou, which are true "rice thieves" – so delicious you'll want extra rice!
I also suggest pairing your meal with a refreshing glass of unpasteurized beer.
2. Golden Spoon (金掌勺) Wangfujing Branch

The second Beijing restaurant on our list is Golden Spoon (Jin Zhang Shao).
Golden Spoon specializes in Northeastern Chinese cuisine, including popular dishes like Guobaorou (sweet and sour pork), which are widely loved!
While most people order Guobaorou at Golden Spoon, I had it elsewhere, so instead, I ordered Kaoliang Mian (grilled cold noodles), stir-fried pork with bell peppers, and stir-fried shredded potatoes!

Kaoliang Mian is a grilled cold noodle dish, where special Chinese sauces are brushed onto cold noodles, topped with various ingredients, and then grilled.
It's one of my personal favorite Chinese snacks, so I had to try it at Golden Spoon, and it was delicious!

Thanks to the "rice thief" stir-fried shredded potatoes and stir-fried pork with bell peppers, I ended up ordering extra bowls of rice twice!
These are generally crowd-pleasing dishes, so I highly recommend them!
3. Quanjude Roast Duck (全聚德) Qianmen Street Branch
Our third Beijing restaurant recommendation is Quanjude (Quánjùdé), famous for its Peking duck.

This place is a Michelin-recognized restaurant, so my expectations were high.
And true to its reputation, the wait was incredibly long!
If you plan to visit the Qianmen Street branch, I recommend putting your name down for a table as soon as you arrive at Qianmen Street, and then enjoying a stroll around the area!

The three of us ordered a whole Peking duck, and
we even got to watch the chef carve it right in front of us,
making it a restaurant that was a feast for the eyes too.

The Peking duck at Quanjude had absolutely no gamey taste
and was incredibly tender.
For the Peking duck skin, if you dip it in sugar initially,
it melts in your mouth, and if you have a glass of beer with it,
it's truly a match made in heaven!

Peking duck is absolutely delicious when you wrap the meat and various vegetables
in a thin pancake and dip it in sauce.
If you feel it's getting a bit rich, try pairing it with a refreshing cucumber salad as a side dish –
you'll experience a much cleaner taste!

Finally, for the remaining parts of the Peking duck,
you can choose to have them as soup or simply the bones as-is.
After some thought, I figured that picking the meat off the bones would be fun,
so I asked for them just as they were.
There was more meat on the bones than I expected,
so the three of us were able to eat our fill with one whole duck!
The price for three people was about 400 yuan, which was
quite cost-effective for Peking duck, so
if you're looking for a great Peking duck restaurant, I highly recommend Quanjude!
4. Bashu Wangpo Dashia (巴蜀王婆大虾)

Our fourth Beijing foodie spot is Bashu Wangpo Dashia.
Bashu Wangpo Dashia is famous for its shrimp hotpot,
a dish you absolutely must try at least once if you visit Beijing.

When you order the shrimp hotpot, they first bring out a stir-fried dish packed with huge shrimp, mushrooms, corn, and
all sorts of vegetables.
The stir-fried shrimp itself was incredibly savory, making it the perfect
companion for a cold beer.

The real highlight of the shrimp hotpot is that you get to enjoy two incredible dishes
from just one pot!
Once you finish the stir-fried shrimp, they immediately pour
broth into the same pot, allowing you to enjoy hotpot – truly killing two birds with one stone!
Also, if you add noodles to your hotpot, just like at Haidilao,
the staff will expertly pull long strands of noodles and add them for you.
The noodles are wonderfully chewy and delicious, so make sure to try them!
5. Silu Chuanqi (丝路传奇) Wangjing Branch

Our fifth Beijing foodie gem is Silu Chuanqi, located in Wangjing.
This place is set up like a food court, where you order your desired dishes
from individual stalls.

For noodle dishes, I recommend the Beef Noodle Soup and the Kung Fu Simple Stir-fried Noodles.
The Beef Noodle Soup had a rich broth that paired perfectly with the noodles,
while the stir-fried noodles were slightly spicy with a strong umami flavor –
a taste that Koreans would absolutely love.

While Silu Chuanqi's noodle dishes are delicious, the true
star here is their skewers.
The lamb skewers were incredibly tasty, but personally,
I found the vegetable skewers to be truly outstanding!
Silu Chuanqi is located near Wangjing Station,
so if you're taking a day tour departing
from Wangjing Station, it's definitely worth a visit!
6. Taishan Yangkkotchi (Taishan Roast Skewers 泰山烤串)

Our final Beijing restaurant recommendation is located near Wangjing Station:
It's Taishan Yangkkotchi!
This fantastic spot was recommended by our wonderful guide who took us on the Great Wall tour.
The restaurant itself is spacious and stays open until late at night,
which made it perfect for visiting after our tour.

At Taishan Yangkkotchi, you can savor not just lamb skewers, but also a variety of other meat skewers like beef.
Personally, I found the lamb skewers to be the most delicious.

Beyond meat skewers, dipping vegetable skewers like chives, eggplant,
onion, pumpkin, and mushroom in cumin (*zìrán*) is absolutely heavenly.
What's more, there's a convenient self-service corner in the middle of the restaurant where you can pick up side dishes, fruits, and more,
which was a great bonus!
