Andong is where my children's maternal grandparents live, a place my family always visits during holidays and vacation seasons.
This vacation, a wonderful opportunity arose for us to stay a night at Andong Stanford Hotel, so my family and I enjoyed a 'hocance' (hotel vacation).

Hotel Exterior

Andong Stanford Hotel is the first 4-star hotel in northern Gyeongsangbuk-do (Gyeongbuk). Opened in 2024, all its facilities were spotless, perfectly embodying the charm of Andong where tradition and modernity blend harmoniously.
Hotel Location & Accessibility

The tiled-roof building you see in the distance, nestled at the foot of the mountain, is the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office.
Stanford Hotel Andong is located in Gyeongbuk Provincial Office New Town, offering excellent accessibility.
It's ideally located for use as an Andong business hotel.
It's approximately a 10-minute drive from Hahoe Folk Village, making it close to Andong's main tourist attractions and convenient for travel to sites like Wolyeonggyo Bridge.
Parking

With both underground and above-ground parking available, you won't have to worry about parking.

There was also a coin laundry room near the underground parking elevator entrance.
Lobby & 1st Floor Facilities

To the left of the 1st floor lobby is the check-in counter, and right next to it, three computers are available for convenient use should you urgently need one.

There's a 7-Eleven convenience store on the 1st floor, making it super convenient to purchase various items and snacks without having to leave the hotel.
SOHO Coffee & Bakery

Next to the convenience store, you'll find the 'SOHO Coffee & Bakery' cafe.
You can enjoy a variety of breads and coffees here, and I was also able to use the welcome drink coupon I received from the hotel.

What's unique is that they also sell local specialties from Andong here, which was quite fun to browse.
They also have a Happy Hour event, so if you time your visit right, you can enjoy coffee and bread at a great price.

The check-in was super smooth and friendly!

Right by the elevator, we found a really helpful guide to the hotel's facilities.
Basement 1: Coin Laundry, Parking
1st Floor: Reception, Restaurant, Bakery, Convenience Store, Grand Ballroom
On the 2nd Floor, you'll find Seminar Rooms, a Bar, Sauna, and a Fitness Center.
Room Types and View Options

Stepping out of the elevator on the 5th floor, I noticed the left side offers views towards the Gyeongbuk Provincial Office.

There are actually seven different room types to choose from!
I opted for the Family Twin room during my stay.
It's also great to know they have separate accessible rooms available for guests with disabilities.

The Family Twin room, featuring both a double and a single bed, is perfect for two guests, but can comfortably accommodate up to three. If you have elementary school children, it might be a bit snug, but it's even possible for four!
The room itself was absolutely spotless, impeccably organized without a single speck of dust. And the fresh, fluffy bedding? Just looking at it made me feel instantly refreshed!
Truly, this room felt like the ideal choice for a family visiting Andong.

When it comes to room views, you generally have two fantastic options.
You can choose between rooms offering a breathtaking Mountain View of Geommu Mountain, or rooms with a serene Lake View overlooking the peaceful Homin Reservoir. Just note that the price varies depending on the view you select.
Room Interior Facilities and Amenities

Your room comes with a mini-bar, where bottled water is complimentary – a nice touch! Beer and soft drinks are also available for purchase.
Tea bags are also thoughtfully provided, inviting you to relax with a warm cup using the electric kettle. And if hunger strikes, room service is just a phone call away – simply browse the menu in your in-room guide.
There's also a table available, perfect for placing your luggage or using as a powder room.
Bathroom

The bathroom offers ample space, making it great for a powder room setup.

With reusable amenities and, best of all, a bathtub, it was perfect for bathing kids.

A hairdryer, tooth-brushing cups, body lotion, and soap are all provided.
Detailed Breakfast Buffet Menu

Breakfast is served on the 1st floor at Cafe Stanford from 7 AM to 10 AM, buffet style. If you head down around 7:30 AM, you can enjoy a relaxed breakfast.
Since there was so much to cover, I wrote a separate post about it.
I enjoyed a well-balanced breakfast, featuring Korean and Western dishes, bakery items, and drinks.

Soho Cafe

At Soho Cafe, which serves as a hub for Andong's local specialties, a bakery, and a cafe all in one place, I could choose between beer or coffee for a welcome drink.

As I was checking out, I took an iced Americano to go.
Considering it's a hotel coffee shop, I found the prices for drinks and pastries to be quite reasonable.
Fitness Center

The fitness center, located on the second floor, is right next to the sauna.
It's available from 7 AM to 9 PM, and it's well-equipped with both cardio and weight training machines.

Guests can use it for free.
There's no limit to how many times you can visit.

There was even a separate space dedicated to yoga!

You can enjoy your run on the treadmill while gazing at the beautiful Homin Reservoir, which really doubles the fun of your workout!
Sauna Facilities

The sauna is also open from 7 AM to 9 PM.
The fee is ~$8 for adults and ~$4 for children.
For hotel guests, it's ~$6 for adults and ~$3 for children.

No specific locker numbers are assigned, so you can simply use any available one.

What I loved most was that the massage chairs were completely free to use, with no time limit!

While photography is usually not allowed in saunas, it was completely empty when I visited around 10 AM, so I was able to take some photos.

After your bath, you'll find everything you need, including hairdryers, lotions, toners, cotton swabs, and body lotion.

A water purifier and shower towels were also provided.

Inside, there were three pools: a hot bath, a warm bath, and a cold plunge, along with a cypress sauna.
Manhattan Grill & Bar
Operating Hours: 8:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Closed every Monday and Tuesday)

It's a place where you can enjoy both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails.

Booking Tip!
If you're dreaming of a lake view, it's a good idea to inquire when you book. And for an even more satisfying stay, consider choosing a package that includes breakfast!
Event Highlights

There were various events happening within the hotel.

The price was so great that I even bought two bottles myself!
True to its status as the first 4-star hotel in northern Gyeongbuk, Andong Stanford Hotel truly shined with its immaculate facilities, delicious breakfast, and wonderfully friendly service.
As a new hotel, both the rooms and ancillary facilities were meticulously maintained.
It's perfect for family trips, romantic getaways, or even business travel. If you're planning a trip to Andong, I believe this is hands down the best hotel choice you can make!
