β
Did you know you can enjoy an incredible hot spring experience right in the heart of Osaka?
Even before it went viral, Solaniwa Onsen has been my absolute go-to spot every time I visit the city.
β
As a three-time Solaniwa Onsen veteran,
I'm sharing my completely honest review, along with ticket prices, how to use the facilities, and the best ways to score a discount!
Let's dive in π€
β
By the way, general admission does NOT require a reservation!
I actually just walk in every time I visit. :)

Indoor Solaniwa Onsen in Osaka

β
The exact location is at Bentencho Station (on the Osaka Loop Line).
My favorite travel hack is stopping by here to soothe my aching muscles
on the way back to my hotel after a long day at Universal Studios Japan!
β
It's incredibly convenient: just 3 subway stops (about 15 minutes) from USJ,
and roughly a 20-minute ride to the Umeda area.
β
β

Hours of Operation: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM (Last entry at 10:00 PM)

β
Solaniwa Onsen is essentially a massive indoor hot spring theme park.
A question I get asked a lot is: "Can I wear a swimsuit?"
The short answer is no.
β
To put it simply, it operates like a traditional Japanese public bathhouse,
but the overall facility feels like a giant modern wellness spa.
Inside, you can enjoy various cultural experiences like wearing a traditional Yukata and trying out doctor fish therapy!
β
β

β
There's also a restaurant inside, so if you happen to visit during meal times,
you're totally covered! The dining area is quite spacious,
making it a comfortable spot to grab a bite.
(They primarily serve Japanese cuisine.)
β
I noticed quite a few people enjoying their meals there,
and online reviews suggest the food is actually pretty good!

My Honest Experience

β
Wow... even though I was only at USJ for a few hours,
my body was absolutely exhausted. Maybe I'm just getting older...
β
If you take Exit 2A at Bentencho Station and follow the signs,
you'll see an entrance that looks like this. This is the main sign for Solaniwa Onsen.
β
β

β
On my very first visit to Solaniwa Onsen,
I only bought a general admission ticket.
(Pro tip: Paying online in advance is definitely cheaper!)
But this time, I booked the Kansai Joy Pass beforehand.
β
β

β
With this pass,
you get access to Solaniwa Onsen, the Osaka Metro, the Harukas 300 Observatory, and more.
If you plan on hitting up multiple attractions, I highly recommend it.
Plus, being able to use the Kansai Joy Pass for the subway
was incredibly useful!

The Kansai Joy Pass even includes a free Haruka train ticket,
making it one of the most cost-effective Osaka passes available right now.

β
Simply show your voucher QR code to the staff to enter.
As soon as you walk in, you get to pick out your own Yukata!
They offer a huge variety of sizes and beautiful patterns, so you have plenty of options. :)
β
β

β
Here's my personal recommendation: after changing into your Yukata,
walk through the hallway leading out of the locker room. Right next to the Yukata selection area,
you'll find a stunning photo zone.
β
I highly suggest taking your photos here before you hit the baths.
Why? Because your makeup will definitely be gone after you wash up! Haha.
β
β

β
Take the elevator up, and you'll arrive at the hot springs.
If I had to point out one minor downside to Solaniwa Onsen, it's that you end up carrying three different locker keys...
At some point, your wrist is just covered in them! '-' lol
β
In the final locker room, you must undress completely before entering the hot spring baths.
β
β

β
There are 9 different hot spring baths in total.
While they aren't gigantically huge, they are the perfect size to relax in.
The real charm of Solaniwa Onsen is being able to hop around and experience all the different themed areas.
The hot spring water itself is fantastic, but adding these fun themes makes it
a place where healing meets entertainment. Highly recommended!
β
Who knew it was this easy to enjoy a premium hot spring right in the middle of Osaka city?!
β
β
β

β
Personally, I absolutely love the outdoor space...
β
Even if you're traveling with someone of the opposite sex and had to separate for the main baths,
you can reunite and enjoy this area together!
The outdoor section isn't just a pretty garden;
the fact that you can enjoy a footbath together really left a lasting impression on me.
β
β

β
Moreover, there are photo zones scattered everywhere, making it a fantastic spot for pictures.
I haven't visited during the daytime, but when the lights turn on in the evening,
it looks absolutely magical!
β
Just a quick tip: don't forget to grab a small towel for the footbath before heading out there.
β
β

β
Beyond the baths, this indoor Osaka hot spring also features an arcade, a massage parlor,
massage chairs, and doctor fish therapy.
I've been incredibly satisfied with every visit, which is exactly why I keep coming back! Haha.
β
Even better, admission tickets are currently 20% off,
making it a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a high-quality experience on a budget.
I'm not exactly sure how long this discount will last, though.

β
Also, every time I go, I make sure to grab a strawberry milk
from the vending machine inside...
It is surprisingly delicious!
It comes in a cute glass bottle, and chugging it after a hot bath feels like pure heaven.
(Payment is handled using the wristband key you receive at entry. You pay for everything at once when you check out,
along with the 150 JPY bathing tax! :))
β
β

β
β
They provide pretty much everything you need, but if you use specific products like eye makeup remover
or a special foam cleanser, it's a good idea to bring those along.
β
Other than that, just pack a change of underwear and you're good to go!
β
β

β
This is an absolute must-visit spot for any trip to Osaka, Japan.
It's the perfect place to unwind and soothe your body,
and you don't even need to travel far to an expensive ryokanβyou can enjoy it right in the middle of the city.
β
Buying just the admission ticket is great, but if you're planning to ride the Haruka train or visit observatories, definitely consider the Kansai Joy Pass like I did!
