After an exhilarating day splashing around at Siheung Wave Park, we found ourselves facing a common traveler's dilemma: hungry and late! We had stayed until closing, and as we looked for dinner, it seemed every restaurant nearby had already shut its doors for the night.

Our initial plan was to grab some comforting Gukbap or Sundaeguk, but even that spot had closed its doors just as we arrived. Talk about a close call!

Thankfully, my husband, ever the diligent researcher, sprang into action with some furious online searching. His mission: find a place still open and serving delicious Korean food. And that's how we stumbled upon Obongjip Baegeot Branch, a true late-night savior!

I vaguely remember snapping some photos of the interior, but honestly, we were so famished and focused on feeding the kids (and ourselves!) that I wasn't really thinking about writing a full restaurant review at the time. Sometimes, you just have to dive into the experience!

With our accommodations calling and the kids' stomachs rumbling, we opted for the 'Obong Special.' It seemed like the perfect choice to satisfy everyone, especially since I knew the kids would love the Bossam (boiled pork slices).

First up, a warm bowl of Miyeokguk (seaweed soup) was perfect for warming up the kids after their swim. Then, it was time to dig in!

Again, at the time, I wasn't planning a detailed food review, but looking back, I just had to share how great this place was!

This was my first time trying Obongjip's Bossam, and I was genuinely impressed. The meat was sliced perfectly thin, which made it super easy for the kids to enjoy.

The cut of pork had just the right amount of fat, making each slice incredibly tender and flavorful. And best of all, absolutely no gamey smell – just pure deliciousness!

Jaengban Makguksu (Buckwheat Noodles Platter)

Oh, these noodles! They're exactly the kind I adore – perfectly chewy with a delightful bounce.

Trying to capture a photo while simultaneously mixing these slippery, delicious noodles was a challenge, but I think I managed to do it justice!

The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and tangy – truly mouthwatering!

Jikwa Nakji (Spicy Stir-fried Octopus)

By the time the Jikwa Nakji arrived, we were all so tired and ravenously hungry that taking pictures was the last thing on our minds.

I stepped away for a moment with the kids, and when I returned, my quick-thinking husband had already cut the octopus into perfect bite-sized pieces. He knows how to get things done when hunger strikes!

The kids were utterly exhausted by this point, eager to head back to our room, so we made quick work of our meal.

The Obong Special turned out to be quite generous for our family, so we ended up packing some of the delicious Bossam to enjoy later.

I'd heard good things about Obongjip before, and I figured it would at least be decent. But I'm happy to report that, true to its reputation, it certainly didn't disappoint!

According to my husband, a self-proclaimed Obongjip superfan, he still thinks the Songdo Timespace branch is even better. Guess we'll have to check that one out next time!
