But oh my gosh, why are there SO many people in Dotonbori...?
Sure, staying near Namba Station is super convenient,
but I felt like being surrounded by those massive crowds 24/7 would totally drain my energy.
Since I travel to Japan pretty often,
I wanted to skip the usual tourist traps and try living like a local
for a truly unique travel experience.
That’s how I stumbled upon SEKAI HOTEL Fuse!
Its concept? The entire neighborhood operates as one single hotel!
Plus, the rooms are spacious and incredibly comfortable.

1. A hotel made from a shopping arcade? My hands-on stay at SEKAI HOTEL
I can't quite recall exactly where or when I first heard about it,
but the moment I laid eyes on SEKAI HOTEL,
I thought, "Wow, I absolutely HAVE to go there!"
To help revitalize an aging local shopping street,
they renovated vacant spaces and turned them into hotel rooms.
Isn't that concept just incredibly charming? 🥹
If you get off at Osaka's Fuse Station,
and walk along the main shopping street,
you'll spot the hotel lobby/front desk right on the right-hand side.
*Note: It was a typhoon day, so the photos are a bit dark and gloomy! ㅠㅠ*
Remember how I said the shopping street is the hotel itself?
Because of this, the lobby and the individual rooms
are scattered all throughout the shopping arcade!
The photo above shows the hotel's front desk 👀
They kept the original vintage storefront signs from decades ago
and only modernised the 1st-floor entrance with a hip, trendy design.
The way the past and present coexist here is simply mind-blowing 🩷
The entrance to our room was just as hip as the front desk!

2. A Hidden Hotel Inside a Classic Osaka Covered Arcade
As great as the rooms are,
the true charm of SEKAI HOTEL lies outside your room.
Let me show you a few more photos of this beautiful local shopping street!
This was Room 7 where I stayed.
Since I checked in late at night, I didn't notice it at first,
but our immediate neighbor was a local butcher shop selling fresh meats!?
You honestly won't find this level of unique, local hipness anywhere else...
The moment you step outside, you're directly in the covered shopping street,
yet there's none of that chaotic tourist crowd. Just pure, peaceful relaxation 😌
You'll see local residents cycling past on their morning commutes,
and grandmas doing their grocery shopping. It's such a peaceful, cozy, everyday atmosphere ☁️
No matter where you point your camera,
you instantly get that perfect, nostalgic aesthetic photo that screams "authentic Japan"!
Even though it was raining non-stop due to the typhoon,
the glass-roofed arcade
meant we could stroll around completely dry without needing an umbrella. Major plus! 😉
With so many local shops, diners, and markets right around the hotel,
just exploring the area was so much fun.
And best of all, the local prices here are so incredibly cheap!!!
If you want to buy some fruit, you absolutely have to get it here.
Cherries that would probably cost over ~$4 back in Korea
were being sold for just 100 yen...
I regretted not buying them for the rest of the trip! 🤣🤣🤣

3. A Loft-Style Room: Highly Recommended for Families of 4 to 5 in Osaka
Let me show you inside the room where we stayed!
This is Room 7, beautifully renovated with a trendy industrial vibe.
Since it has a loft structure connected by stairs,
the space feels incredibly spacious.
One wall features vintage-style corrugated metal sheets,
while the stairs and tables are made of warm wood and brown tones,
creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. ☀️
It's fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave,
electric kettle, cups, and basic tableware.
There are so many street snacks like takoyaki to take out
in the nearby shopping street,
so it was super convenient to bring them back and enjoy them in our room!
The Kyoto hotel we stayed at the night before was so incredibly tiny
that we could barely open a single suitcase, which felt so cramped.
But Sekai Hotel Osaka is a loft, so it's super spacious!
We could spread our suitcases wide open and still had plenty of space left. 👍👍
We stayed in the Deluxe Room,
which accommodates up to 6 people—making it the perfect family accommodation in Osaka!
If you book for 6 people,
they will prepare mattresses, cups, and towels
to match the exact number of guests.
Upstairs, there are 3 mattresses,
and 2 more on the 1st floor.
The bedding was clean,
and even though it was summer with rising humidity,
everything was kept perfectly crisp and fresh.
The sink & bathroom feature a sleek black-and-white tone.
The toilet is in a separate room,
and past the sink area, you'll find the shower booth and bathtub.
Amenities like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash
were all provided.
4. Breakfast & Public Bath Coupons to Fully Enjoy the Local Shopping Street
Due to a typhoon, we had a late check-in
and went through the self-check-in process.
There, we found breakfast vouchers, public bath passes,
and a map of the neighborhood with adorable illustrations! 👀
True to its concept of "The Entire Town is a Hotel,"
for breakfast, we could choose one of three
partner cafes nestled in the shopping street.
Sadly, the public bath was closed on our checkout day, so we couldn't go. ㅠ

A Unique Osaka Trip: Exploring Sekai Hotel's Breakfast & Fuse Station Shopping Street
It was a shame we arrived late due to the typhoon this time,
but if I visit again, I’m definitely booking at least 2 nights
or arriving right at check-in time! *0*
Instead of the typical cramped hotels in Osaka,
