Out of all the highlights from my recent trip to Chuncheon,
the absolute best memory has to be
the Samaksan Lake Cable Car.
Not only is it the longest cable car ride in South Korea,
but it’s also much more than just a quick round-trip.
It takes you all the way up to a stunning mountain peak observatory,
making it an incredibly fulfilling day out! 👍
From comparing cabin types and scoring the best discount hacks,
to sharing how to skip the massive ticket booth lines,
I've put together everything you need to know before you go!

* Booking online is a no-brainer!
Unused tickets are 100% refundable, so book yours in advance to secure your spot.

I made sure to book my tickets online in advance,
and thank goodness I did! 😂
When I arrived, the queue at the ticket office was insanely long.
It was a Saturday at 2:00 PM—absolute peak hour.
If you try to buy tickets on-site during weekends,
you can easily expect to wait over 30 minutes just to buy them,
and you’ll end up paying full price. There’s really no benefit to waiting! 😂

** One crucial thing to keep in mind!
Official website reservations
cannot be bought and used on the same day.
However, using platforms like MyRealTrip allows you to
use the ticket just 2 hours after purchase.
So if you are booking on the same day, use the link below instead!

The longer you wait to buy, the later your boarding time will be...
Since unused tickets are 100% refundable, it's best to grab them now
and adjust your plans based on the weather on the day of your trip!

The Standard Cabin is your classic cable car.
You enjoy the panoramic scenery through the windows,
and it's the more budget-friendly option. :)
The only downside is that because it's more popular,
the boarding lines are usually twice as long as the Crystal Cabin line. 😂
The Crystal Cabin features a fully transparent glass floor!
You can look directly down at Uiam Lake beneath your feet,
giving you a thrilling, immersive experience all the way up.

While the surrounding mountain views are spectacular in both,
choose the Crystal Cabin if you want the extra thrill of seeing the lake below.
Go with the Standard Cabin if you prefer to keep it budget-friendly!

Though the massive weekend crowd was intimidating at first, 🤣
booking online beforehand saved the day.
I didn't have to wait in the long purchase queue—
I just scanned my voucher and got my tickets instantly!

The moment the cabin launches, the view opens up beautifully!
Uiam Lake is incredibly vast,
and looking down from the cable car height
makes you feel like you are floating right above the water.
Staring at the sparkling waters of Uiam Lake
and the dramatic ridges of Samaksan Mountain,
you'll find yourself completely mesmerized by the sheer scale of the landscape. 😂

Once you disembark at the top station,
follow the wooden deck path up for about 15 minutes
to reach the famous Skywalk Observatory!

The panoramic view of downtown Chuncheon
and Uiam Lake sweeping before your eyes
makes every single step of the short walk completely worth it.
It's an exciting adventure for kids,
a romantic date spot for couples,
and a peaceful, majestic viewpoint for parents.
This is truly a top-tier attraction for all ages. 👍

If you do only one thing in Chuncheon,
make sure it's the Samaksan Lake Cable Car!
The views here are something you absolutely have to experience in person. 🥹
Since you're going anyway, booking online is much cheaper than buying at the gate.
Plus, with a 100% refund policy for unused tickets, there's zero risk!
Secure your discount tickets before your trip
and enjoy a hassle-free day in Chuncheon!
➡️ Book Chuncheon Samaksan Cable Car Same-Day Tickets
Same-day purchase and use are not available on the official website. However, if you use a ticketing platform, you can use your ticket on the same day starting 2 hours after payment.
The standard cabin is cheaper, but the waiting line is more than twice as long as that for the crystal cabin. The crystal cabin features a glass floor, allowing you to enjoy the view of Uiamho Lake beneath your feet during the ride.
Cable car passengers can use the parking lot for free for 4 hours. Ticketing closes 1 hour before the end of operations, so please check the seasonal operating hours before your visit.
After getting off at the top station, it takes about a 15-minute walk up the wooden deck path to reach the Skywalk Observatory. From there, you can enjoy a panoramic view of downtown Chuncheon and Uiamho Lake.
