Okonomiyaki Sakaba O
Even after waiting in line for an hour and a half during our Osaka trip,
every single minute was absolutely worth it.
Okonomiyaki Sakaba O
If there is one dish you absolutely must try when visiting Japan, it is okonomiyaki.
The authentic version here blew away any adaptation I've had back home.
I'm still dreaming about it weeks later...

Please note that reservations are not accepted—it is strictly walk-in only.
Opening Hours:
Daily: 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM
5:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The Wait Time Experience

We arrived on a weekday around 8:00 PM,
and we were incredibly lucky to be the absolute last group allowed in line.
We waited for about 1.5 hours before finally stepping inside.
Anyone who showed up after us was unfortunately turned away,
leaving many disappointed travelers behind.

To guarantee a spot, I highly recommend visiting during lunch hours
or arriving no later than 7:30 PM for dinner.
There is no digital sign-up sheet or queue app,
so you must physically wait in line the entire time.
On the bright side, as you get closer to the front,
the staff will come out to take your order in advance.
The team is highly English-friendly, making the process smooth and easy.
Cozy Izakaya Vibes

The interior is primarily composed of bar counter seating
with a warm, wooden aesthetic that feels incredibly inviting.
It is quite compact and cozy, so space is tight when moving around.
The crowd is a lively mix of locals,
as well as international travelers looking for an authentic spot.

Each table features its own built-in iron griddle (teppan)
to keep your food sizzling and hot throughout your meal.
Since it is located in a cozy basement space, the delicious grill aroma does linger.
Thankfully, they provide hollow stools where you can safely store your coats and bags.
The staff is bursting with energy and cheer,
creating a lively, bustling atmosphere that is incredibly fun to experience.
The Menu

The menu is extensive, but here are the highlights and crowd-pleasers.
The absolute must-orders are the classic Pork Okonomiyaki,
the Beef Okonomiyaki, and a side of their savory Yakisoba.
Prices per dish range from 950 to 1,500 JPY (approx. $6 to $10 USD),
which is highly reasonable for a prime spot in central Osaka.

We ordered:
Pork Okonomiyaki
Beef Okonomiyaki
Pork Yakisoba
Our total bill came out to around 7,000 JPY (approx. $45 USD).
They conveniently accept credit cards here!
*Please note: Ordering at least one drink per person is mandatory!
Okonomiyaki Review

The okonomiyaki is expertly prepared on the main grill
before being transferred directly to your tabletop griddle.
While it takes some time to cook perfectly,
since they pre-take your order in line, the food arrives in just 15 minutes once you sit down.

If you have only ever tried flour-heavy, dense versions of okonomiyaki outside of Japan,
this will completely redefine the dish for you.
It is incredibly light, loaded with fresh cabbage, fluffy egg, and generous meat,
all topped with a flawless balance of savory okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayo.

Crispy on the outside, and incredibly airy on the inside,
the flavors are perfectly balanced without being overly salty or heavy.
Hands down, the best okonomiyaki I’ve ever had.
Yakisoba Review

The Pork Yakisoba also exceeded all expectations.
The noodles had a fantastic, springy bite (perfectly al dente),
and the sauce was savory, rich, and beautifully balanced without being overpowering.

The portions here are surprisingly generous.
If you are visiting as a duo, ordering one okonomiyaki and one yakisoba
to share is the absolute perfect sweet spot.
If you are looking for an authentic, mouthwatering Osaka food experience,
Okonomiyaki Sakaba O is absolutely worth the wait.
With amazing food, electric vibes, and a great local-meets-global atmosphere,
this spot is a must-add to your 2026 Osaka itinerary!
