It feels like ages ago I explored Phu Quoc, but better late than never to share my finds! I always dream of writing these posts right after a trip, but life, you know? Anyway, let's dive into one of my first stays on the island.
First up is the budget-friendly hotel where I kicked off my Phu Quoc adventure. It's nestled right in the bustling central district, close to the popular King Kong Mart. For a last-minute booking, it turned out surprisingly well, though there were a couple of quirks. Let's break it down.
📍 ROSETTA HOTEL - PHÚ QUỐC
127/2 Đường Trần Hưng Đạo, Khu Phố 7, Phú Quốc, An Giang 920000, Vietnam
The first major advantage is its location. As a central Phu Quoc hotel, it offers fantastic access to the city center – easily walkable. While ride-sharing apps like Grab are super convenient and readily available in other Vietnamese cities, Phu Quoc is a different story. Grab bikes are somewhat available only in the central area, and elsewhere, you might wait a long time or not find one at all. Plus, fares can add up. So, being able to stroll to the city's highlights is a huge plus.
The second upside, naturally, is the price, especially since I booked it as an affordable Phu Quoc accommodation. While rates can fluctuate with the season and demand, you can often find rooms for around ~$14 a night.
The main drawback is its very local focus. The hotel primarily caters to local guests, which, surprisingly, meant the lobby desk staff didn't speak English. Communication required using a translation app. Interestingly, they did have some basic information sheets in Korean, which they showed me. The real challenge would be if you needed to make a specific request or have a detailed conversation. Luckily, I didn't have such needs, so after the initial surprise, it wasn't a big issue. Oh, and there's no phone in the room to connect to the lobby either, which is certainly a unique touch!
If you're looking for a good value stay in Phu Quoc for just 1-2 nights, this hotel is surprisingly solid. However, if you're thinking, "Why come all the way to Phu Quoc to scrimp on accommodation?" then you might want to consider other options. After all, accommodation in Phu Quoc isn't typically all that expensive to begin with.

The room condition was quite good. It received plenty of sunlight, and while there wasn't a spectacular view, the window was large. The room size was also quite spacious.

I actually made good use of this desk during my trip, as I had some work to do. Many budget local hotels sometimes lack a proper desk, so I was fortunate to have one here.

Here's a look at the bathroom and toilet. There's no bathtub, just a shower, and the amenities are conveniently placed above the sink.
Truth be told, this trip was quite spontaneous, and I booked this place last minute! I specifically chose an affordable option among the Phu Quoc city hotels for my first night. Check-in is from 2:00 PM, and check-out is at 12:00 PM. You can find more details below.
The lobby desk at ROSETTA HOTEL - PHÚ QUỐC does not have English-speaking staff, so you'll need to use a translation app to communicate. Fortunately, basic information is available in Korean notices, which you can utilize.
Accommodation fees at ROSETTA HOTEL - PHÚ QUỐC can vary depending on the season and demand, but it's possible to stay for around ~$14. Located in the central part of Phu Quoc, it offers excellent accessibility, allowing you to walk to the city center where King Kong Mart and other amenities are located.
