Rome Hotel Review: Pax Forehez Suites near Trevi Fountain

Rome is a city best explored on foot, with most of its iconic attractions clustered together. That's why choosing the right hotel location is absolutely crucial for an unforgettable trip.

Many travelers prioritize staying close to the Trevi Fountain, and I followed suit, booking a hotel conveniently located near both the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.

A quick Google search might show "Pax Hotel" and "Forehez Private Suites" as separate entities; it's unclear if the name has simply changed or if they are related.

Location

First things first, the location is absolutely prime! You can reach the Trevi Fountain in just an 8-minute walk and the Pantheon in a mere 5 minutes. Plus, you'll find some of Rome's best gelato spots and fantastic restaurants right around the corner.

I managed to book this hotel for a surprisingly affordable ~$109 per night. Just a heads-up: in Italy, you'll need to pay a city tax directly at the accommodation. For my two-night stay, the tax amounted to an additional ~$36.

Superior King Room

While the room wasn't overwhelmingly spacious, there was definitely enough space to comfortably open two large suitcases.

The bed was listed as a king, but it felt more like a queen – still, it was plush, clean, and incredibly comfortable.

A nice bonus was the TV, which allowed access to YouTube, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

You'll find towels, earplugs, and slippers readily available. If you're staying multiple nights, fresh towels are provided every morning.

The area was quiet and peaceful, so I didn't even need to use the earplugs!

The room also featured a hanger, a safe, and a refrigerator. Since I was staying for multiple nights, the fridge was stocked with a generous four complimentary bottles of sparkling and still water. The air conditioning worked wonderfully, keeping the room cool and comfortable.

There was a convenient table perfect for laptop work, along with a capsule coffee machine, an electric kettle, and even a wine opener – everything you need for a cozy evening in.

The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, almost half the size of the main room! It featured a separate sink, toilet, a European bidet, and a shower area.

All the essential amenities were provided, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, cotton swabs, cotton pads, shampoo, and conditioner.

Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel – from the room's condition and prime location to its excellent value. Definitely a great bang for your buck!

Check-in

Check-in takes place at the counter on the second floor. The ground-floor main entrance requires either a password or a room key, which is conveniently sent to your registered email the day before your arrival.

While it might seem like an extra step, I actually appreciated this for peace of mind, knowing that only guests could access the building.

One minor downside was the elevator. I had heard there was one, but upon arrival, it wasn't operational. It might have been a traditional European manual elevator that we simply couldn't figure out, or perhaps it was just out of service, as other foreign guests were also using the stairs. Most of the rooms are on the third floor, so it wasn't a huge inconvenience for us.

However, if you have mobility issues or are traveling with elderly parents, I'd highly recommend contacting the hotel beforehand to confirm the elevator is working.
