Daegu Downtown Hotel: Rivertain Hotel
Exploring Dongseong-ro on Foot

Hello, travel lovers!
I'm travel influencer Nabongsoon.
My brother's family and I recently aligned our schedules
and set off on a wonderful family trip to Daegu.
For our second day, we enjoyed a luxury staycation at a 5-star hotel,
but for the first night of our trip, we stayed at the Rivertain Hotel
located right in downtown Dongseong-ro.
Since we had a larger group, we booked two rooms for our stay.
The location was fantastic—easy to park the car
and perfectly situated for exploring downtown Daegu on foot.
With clean, comfortable room conditions and a high-quality,
hearty breakfast buffet, it was the perfect way
to kick off our Daegu adventure.
Let me share all the details about Daegu's Dongseong-ro Rivertain Hotel,
including its location, room conditions, and nearby spots to explore!
1. Location of Rivertain Hotel, Daegu

Rivertain Hotel is located just a 5-minute walk
from Jungangno Station on Daegu Subway Line 1.
Positioned right in the heart of Dongseong-ro,
it was the absolute perfect spot for a car-free traveler like me
who arrived early on day one to wander around the city.

The bustling Dongseong-ro shopping street and food alleys are incredibly close.
Major local landmarks like Gyeongsang-gamyeong Park, Gukchaebosang Memorial Park,
and the Modern Culture Alley are all within walking distance.
It's so easy to plan your itinerary when you can hit all the food spots
and sightseeing destinations on foot!

The clean and highly cost-effective Rivertain Hotel—perfect
for family trips to Dongseong-ro, Daegu—can be booked
at a discount through Agoda.
As it's a popular hotel, it can book up quickly.
Luckily, Agoda also suggests other great budget-friendly options nearby,
allowing you to carefully compare prices
before booking.

I booked the Rivertain Standard Double room (including breakfast)
for around ~$102 during the peak weekend season.
However, on weekdays this season, you can book it for around ~$51
without breakfast, making it an incredibly budget-friendly Daegu accommodation.
My brother’s family also booked
an additional Triple Room to accommodate everyone.
Although I started my day exploring on foot,
the hotel has a parking lot on the 1st floor,
making it very convenient for my brother’s family to park and start their trip
even after arriving late at night.
2. Rivertain Room Conditions

The front desk on the 1st floor provided luggage storage,
and the staff kindly guided us through the room details after we checked in.

There was a small sofa area to relax in the lobby.
We had nothing to worry about since there are convenience stores and a Daiso nearby,
but there’s also a vending machine on-site where you
can buy drinks and snacks.

The Standard Double room is 28m² in size,
boasting a clean, sleek, and modern interior design
that left a strong impression.
Since the hotel is right in the city center,
you can hear the city sounds when the windows are open.
However, by turning on the cool AC and closing the double-pane windows tight,
we slept like babies without any annoying noise.
The bed was incredibly clean and cozy, too.

The bathroom featured a separate sink, bathtub, and toilet area,
making it incredibly convenient and comfortable to use.

The bathtub was also quite spacious, perfect for a relaxing soak
to wash away all the day's travel fatigue.
The refillable dispensers were fully stocked
with plenty of shampoo and body wash.

One of the best perks of the popular Rivertin Hotel in Daegu
is that every room comes equipped with a Styler (steam closet)!
I even used the drying function after doing some quick hand washing.
After walking around and braving Daegu's famous summer heat (lovingly called 'Daefrica'!),
popping my skirt in there made it feel fresh and crisp in no time—
it was absolute bliss!

The mini fridge was stocked with bottled water,
and there was an electric kettle alongside
complimentary instant coffee and tea.
Extra bottled water, razors, and toothbrushes can be purchased
for about ~$1 each at the 1st-floor front desk.

Overall, for such a budget-friendly Daegu hotel,
the room was remarkably spacious, and I loved winding down
in the evening watching TV in bed.
The tea table was also a lovely spot to sip a warm cup of coffee,

and there was a dedicated desk,
which was perfect for setting up my laptop and catching up on some work.
3. Clean, Fresh, and Generous Breakfast Buffet

Breakfast is served at the restaurant on the 2nd floor.
☕⏰
Breakfast Hours
Weekdays: 07:00 - 09:30
Weekends & Public Holidays: 07:30 - 10:00
The standard rate is ~$13 for adults
and ~$10 for children (from 48 months up to elementary school age).
They often run guest discounts and seasonal promotions,
so be sure to take advantage of those!

The restaurant has a modern, clean design.
Since this is such a value-for-money hotel, I didn't expect much
and just planned to grab a piece of fruit.
But wow! The selection was so impressive that
I ended up completely overeating first thing in the morning.

There was a great selection of pastries, cereals, juices,
soups, porridge, sausages, and scrambled eggs.
On top of that, they had an amazing Korean spread featuring
gimbap, kimchi, seasoned vegetables, and sweet-and-savory pork bulgogi.
They even had a live station where they cook fried eggs fresh on demand,
plus plenty of fresh fruit to round it off.

Plus, from 07:00 to 12:30 on weekdays
and 07:30 to 12:30 on weekends/holidays,
you can order a classic ramen (~$3) or a spicy seafood Jjamppong ramen (~$4).
It’s the perfect way to turn your Daegu trip
into a cozy, delicious staycation!
If you order food delivery in the evening,
you can easily head down to the 1st floor to pick it up yourself.
Also, keep in mind there’s 'River Coffee' cafe on the 2nd floor,
along with a cozy reading nook where you can browse and borrow books.
4. Wrapping Up Our Family Trip at This Daegu Dongseong-ro Hotel

To be honest, since it's such an affordable hotel in downtown Daegu,
I booked a one-night stay without expecting too much beyond a basic breakfast.
But with its amazing location, clean and comfortable rooms,
and a surprisingly rich breakfast buffet,
it turned out to be the perfect base—especially for travelers
exploring the city on foot!

Especially if you are traveling with kids, rather than a motel-style accommodation,
you'll likely want a cleaner and quieter hotel in Dongseong-ro, Daegu.
The breakfast here is incredibly hearty and well-made,
so even my niece thoroughly enjoyed it!
Offering the perfect balance of budget-friendliness and top-tier quality,
I highly recommend planning a wonderful stay
