Discovering Da Nang's Healthy Eats

During my recent workation, this spot became my absolute go-to for lunch. While Rainbowl Poke is known for its delicious tuna and salmon poke bowls, I'm personally not a huge fan of raw seafood. So, I predominantly indulged in their incredible smoothie bowls – and they did not disappoint!

The ambiance here has a distinctly local Vietnamese feel, but perhaps because the menu caters so well to Western tastes, I noticed a lot of international visitors enjoying their meals.

I ordered the smoothie bowl shown in the picture and settled into a seat. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, but since there isn't any air conditioning, most patrons prefer the outdoor tables. Besides, a smoothie bowl just tastes better when you're enjoying it in the warm, tropical breeze – a cold draft simply doesn't do it justice!

The food arrives quickly, which is absolutely perfect for a refreshing lunch in the humid Southeast Asian climate. It's incredibly cooling, and the toppings are quite generous. Given the nature of the menu, it’s an ideal choice for brunch or lunch. I wouldn't really consider it a dinner option.

I also ordered a yogurt ice cream. It's not a full meal, but if you're just passing by and need to cool down from the heat, this treat is wonderfully refreshing! The sweet fruit combined with the creamy, cool yogurt is pure bliss – a truly unbeatable combination.

Honestly, I first discovered this place because of its perfect 5.0 rating on Google Maps (it's currently a stellar 4.9). As a massive smoothie bowl enthusiast, I simply couldn't resist checking it out. Back then, my expectations were sky-high, perhaps a little too high, and it didn't quite blow me away as I had anticipated. However, now I truly believe it's an excellent spot. My standards were just ridiculously elevated at the time! For me, the ultimate smoothie bowls were always synonymous with Ubud, Bali, where every random place I stumbled into seemed to be a culinary gem. After another trip to Bali recently, I realized just how truly amazing those places were, which helped me recalibrate my expectations. So, it's not that Rainbowl Poke is anything less than great; it's genuinely outstanding for a smoothie bowl spot outside of Bali. It still maintains a very high Google Maps rating with numerous positive reviews.

The location is a bit off the main tourist areas. During my workation, I was staying nearby and could walk there, but most tourists will likely need to catch a Grab (ride-sharing app) to reach it. Personally, I think it's quite lovely to stay in this neighborhood if your itinerary allows for a more relaxed pace, but typically, travelers have limited time. It's not a long trip, though – perhaps a quick 10-15 minute ride from the popular beach areas.

Oh, and for those who aren't into poke, they also offer sushi tacos and salads. I even tried their veggie bowl once, but honestly, it wasn't quite my style, haha! They also have detox juices, which I found to be quite good – a definite healthy boost.

I considered ordering a smoothie, but they told me the base and flavor were the same as the smoothie bowl, so I decided to stick with the bowl. Why not get the delicious toppings too, right? Rainbowl Poke in Da Nang is a simple yet satisfying spot, perfect for a light and healthy lunch. It became my default whenever I couldn't decide what to eat!
