Potalaka Naksan Beach Wellness Yangyang: Family Hotel Review
Our first family trip with our 5-month-old led us to Potalaka Naksan Beach Wellness in Yangyang. This tranquil, baby-friendly hotel near Naksansa was the perfect escape. Discover more!
Hello, I'm Yuncooing! |
Our little one just turned 5 months old,
and this was our first trip together to Sokcho and Yangyang in Gangwon-do!
Since we were traveling with a 5-month-old baby on this trip,
the accommodation was super important to us.
That's why we chose a quiet hotel, Yangyang Hotel Potaraka Naksan Beach Wellness,
for our stay.

Hotel check-in is at 3 PM,
so if you arrive around 3 PM on a weekend,
you might find yourself in a queue
with cars heading to Naksansa Temple.
Luckily, if you tell the staff you're a hotel guest,
they'll guide you straight up to the hotel without any wait!

So, without any waiting, we went up
and parked in the hotel's parking lot.

The lobby was spotless,
and with plenty of seating for waiting,
we could relax comfortably.

If you want to check in right at 3 PM,
it seems like a good idea to arrive a bit early and wait!
Next to the front desk, there was information about sunrise times,
so for those who came to witness the sunrise,
you can check the times and wake up accordingly the next day.
The schedule for the wellness programs, which is one of the main reasons people visit
Yangyang Hotel Potaraka Naksan Beach Wellness,
can also be found next to the front desk.
Ocean View Premium Twin
3 PM Check-in, 11 AM Check-out

Since we were visiting with a 5-month-old baby, we initially wanted a suite with a separate living area,
but it was already fully booked for our travel date,
so we opted for the open-plan Ocean View Premium Twin room instead.

The bathtub, shower (including a rain shower head!), and toilet are
all separately partitioned.
Other basic necessities like body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and hand wash are all provided,
but you'll need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.
If you forget them, you can always grab some at the convenience store on B1. 😉
Plenty of towels are provided too,
so even with a baby, you'll have more than enough!

The Ocean View Premium Twin room features
two beds: one double bed and one single bed.

In front of the beds, you'll find a minibar and a TV.
All the water, drinks, and snacks in the minibar are complimentary!
An ice bucket and wine glasses are also provided in the room.
Stevia coffee, protein drinks,
protein bars, electrolyte drinks, and plant-derived Bio-PET mineral water

There are bathrobes and slippers,
and even a luggage rack!

Oh, and a quick note!
At Potaraka Naksan Beach Wellness Hotel in Yangyang,
the only baby item available for rent is a baby bed rail.
If you request it during check-in,
a staff member will visit after 4 PM
to install the guard on both sides of the bed, just like this.

There's an outlet conveniently located between the beds,
so if you bring a long phone charging cable,
you can comfortably use your phone while lounging in bed!

A family photo taken at the accommodation :)
Step out of the Yangyang hotel,
and you're directly connected to Naksansa Temple (just a 1-minute walk away)!
We even got to explore Naksansa Temple with our baby,
making this hotel's location absolutely perfect.
Potaraka Naksan Beach Wellness Amenities

There's a cafe located in the 1st-floor lobby,
though I didn't use it, so I'm not sure about the prices.

The Calm Tea Lounge, located on B1 (Basement 1),
operates as a lounge bar from 8 PM to 10 PM,
and tea and a tea room are provided free of charge.

You'll also find a CU convenience store, an ATM, and even gachapon machines (capsule toy dispensers).

Also located on B1 (Basement 1) is
the Potaraka Seawater Sauna!
It operates from 6 AM to 9 PM,
with the last entry at 8 PM.
Inside the sauna, you'll find not only body wash, shampoo, and conditioner,
but also essence, cream, and even hair essence readily available.
The brand is Calmomentry.

A coin laundry room

and a fitness center are all located on B1 (Basement 1).

The ice machine and microwave
were located next to the stairs on the 3rd floor,
but I'm not sure if they are also on the 2nd floor.
Having a separate microwave is fantastic,
making it a great spot for families with babies who need to prepare baby food.

Here's the rooftop!
With Naksan Beach offering stunning views,
and comfy beanbag sofas,
if it had just been my husband and me,
we probably would have settled in here, sipped on some beers, chatted the night away,
and then leisurely headed back to our room.
Wellness Gathering Package
At Yangyang Hotel Potalaka Naksan Beach Wellness,
you can indulge in a variety of wellness programs throughout your stay.
For the wellness programs,
once your hotel reservation is confirmed via text message,
they'll send you a timetable along with an application link,
allowing you to easily book your preferred sessions.
If you check in on a weekend,
you get to select one yoga studio program,
and one program from either TCCC Tea Meditation or the Potalaka Tea Ceremony experience,
enjoying a total of two enriching programs.
During weekdays, guests are welcome to freely enjoy all wellness programs,
including the invigorating Sunrise Yoga!

I opted for the 5:30 AM Sunrise Yoga
and attended it alone, bright and early in the morning.
Do note that Sunrise Yoga can fill up quickly on weekends,
so it’s highly recommended to sign up right away once you receive the text message from the hotel!
I actually managed to snag the last spot for Sunrise Yoga thanks to a cancellation,
so I booked it immediately and had a wonderful session the next day.
For your yoga attire, simply wear comfortable clothes like a short-sleeved top with shorts or long pants –
just come as you are and enjoy the session!

The yoga offerings include
Sunrise Yoga, Healing Yoga, Singing Bowl Therapy,
Aromatherapy, Foam Roller Therapy, and many more ways to find your flow!

TCCC Tea Meditation offers a serene experience with
Green Tea, Matcha, Black Tea, White Tea, Oolong Tea, Pu-erh Tea Meditation, and other calming varieties.

The Potalaka Tea Ceremony experience
is held on the first basement floor
and allows you to immerse yourself in exquisite teas such as Anxi Tieguanyin and Rose Black Tea.
Beyond these, there's also the Temple Retreat Moonlight Wave Meditation program,
offering a unique day-long temple stay experience.
Please note this is a paid program,
so be sure to check the website for more details! :)
Breakfast
7:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM

Get ready for the amazing breakfast buffet at Yangyang Hotel Potalaka Naksan Beach Wellness in Gangwon-do!

With an incredible array of dishes, from delicious Korean cuisine to delightful desserts and fresh fruit,
you'll have so much fun choosing your perfect meal!

Our little one is still milk-fed and hasn't started solids, so
we just held him while we enjoyed our meal.
But for those traveling with older children, rest assured that high chairs and baby tableware are readily available –
something great to keep in mind!
The food is not only beautifully presented and delicious,
but with breakfast served leisurely until 12 PM,
you can truly enjoy your meal at a relaxed pace.
Our amazing hotel vacation in Yangyang with a 5-month-old baby was a blast!
If you're traveling with a little one, I highly recommend prioritizing a room with separate living and sleeping areas for extra convenience. :)
Even if you can't get one, a studio-type room works perfectly well too!
