Hong Kong Airport Plaza Premium Lounge
Late-Night / Early-Morning Visit Review

When heading back home after wrapping up a trip to Hong Kong,
many travelers end up booking late-night or early-morning flights
because of the super tempting budget airfares.
Since many restaurants in downtown Hong Kong close
surprisingly early in the evening, you might find yourself heading
back to the airport much earlier than expected.
If you're looking for a comfortable spot to grab a bite
and relax before your flight, a airport lounge is a great option.
Today, I’m sharing my review of the 24-hour Plaza Premium Lounge
at Hong Kong International Airport!
Plaza Premium Lounge Info

Plaza Premium Lounge |
Location: Near Gate 1, Hong Kong Airport Hours: 24 Hours How to Access: Lounge membership card or entry pass purchase |
The lounge I used is located in the departures hall
near Gate 1 at Hong Kong Airport.

This picture is a map of the international departures area at Hong Kong Airport.
As you can see, the airport is quite massive and complex,
and there are more than 10 different lounges available.
Among these, there are three Plaza Premium Lounges,
located near Gates 1, 35, and 60.
Once you pass through departure immigration, you enter on Level 7.
From there, the lounge near Gate 1 on Level 6 (one floor down)
was the closest, so that's the one I decided to visit.
You can access the lounge with a PP card or 'The Lounge' app,
but you can also purchase an entry pass separately
beforehand to use it.
(Just for reference, I used my lounge membership card.)

Lounge Amenities & Facilities

The lounge interior was incredibly spacious
and divided into two main zones.
The first zone, right near the entrance, is a relaxation area
mostly filled with rows of comfortable single-seater sofas.
The private single booths with tables looked very cozy,
but they were highly popular, so it was hard to find an empty one.

In between these sofa seats, there are USB and
USB-C charging ports available,
making it super convenient to juice up your phone while resting.

If you head further inside, you'll find proper dining tables for 2 to 4 people.
While the chairs might be slightly less plush than the sofas,
having a table makes sitting down for a meal much easier.
I visited after 10 PM,
but it was still packed with travelers, so there wasn't much of a choice—
I ended up taking a sofa seat near the entrance.

Other amenities inside the lounge included high chairs and
phone chargers (available for a fee).
Just a heads-up: the paid chargers are quite slow
and a bit tricky to use, so I highly recommend
bringing your own portable charger along.
Lounge Food & Drinks
Now, let's dive into the most exciting part of any lounge—
the food and drinks!

The dining area features the main buffet station near the entrance,
while the drinks and bread station are located further inside.
The bread selection was fairly simple, mostly toast and butter.

Just behind that, you'll find the coffee machine and a soda fountain,
stocked with four classic favorites: Coca-Cola, Coke Zero,
Sprite, and Fanta.

The bar area was also located right nearby.
You can pour your own red or white wine,
but for draft beer or spirits,
you'll need to ask the staff to pour them for you.
The tequila, gin, and whiskey selection consisted of entry-level brands,
and Carlsberg was the beer on tap.

The main buffet line was set up in a single row,
and the overall selection was on the simpler side.
With about eight different dishes—including two types of soup, spring rolls,
curried chicken, pasta, and stir-fried vegetables—
some options looked quite appetizing,
while others were a bit hit-or-miss.

Next to that, there was a live Hong Kong-style fishball noodle station,
and a fresh salad bar sat right at the very end.
The salad section was basic, featuring fresh greens like lettuce and cucumber
that you could pair with your choice of dressing.

I grabbed a variety of dishes to try.
The fishball noodles hit the spot with their warm, comforting broth,
and the curry braised chicken paired perfectly with rice.
Plus, the ice-cold Carlsberg draft beer was incredibly refreshing—
it was a match made in heaven with the spring rolls and nacho chips!
The rest of the food was pretty average or just okay.
The Perfect Place to Rest During a Late-Night Layover

If you're catching a late-night or early-morning flight like me,
and don't have anything left on your itinerary in downtown Hong Kong,
I highly recommend heading to the airport early to hang out in the lounge.
Most of the seating here consists of cozy sofas, making it super comfortable.
Sipping on that delicious draft beer and munching on nachos
while reflecting on my Hong Kong adventures was the perfect way to wrap up the trip.
Since I had plenty of time, I ended up staying for over two hours.
It was infinitely more comfortable and satisfying than
sitting on those stiff, cold airport metal chairs!
Just a quick tip: lounge access isn't exactly cheap,
so I'd highly recommend taking advantage of any credit card lounge benefits if you can!
