If you're heading to Phu Quoc with kids, the swimming pool often becomes the top priority when choosing accommodation.
And we were no different!
Since we planned to spend more time splashing around at the resort rather than having a super packed sightseeing schedule,
we decided to go for a room with easy pool access this time.
The room we booked was the Superior King with Pool Access
Superior King Room with Direct Pool Access
It included breakfast, a king bed, and we added an extra bed for our stay.

We actually deliberated between a standard room and a pool access room, but having experienced it firsthand with two kids,
I'd definitely choose the pool access room again.
You'll totally understand why once you see all the water fun we had in just one day!
Where is Mövenpick Resort Phu Quoc located?
Mövenpick Resort Phu Quoc is a 5-star resort located on Ong Lang Beach, on the west side of Phu Quoc.
Since it requires travel from the airport to the resort and isn't situated in the heart of the city,
it perfectly suited our itinerary, which focused more on relaxing and enjoying the water at the resort rather than sightseeing.

Plot D 12 Abc, Cam Lâm, Khánh Hòa 057615 Vietnam
Taking kids to Phu Quoc, we found it much more comfortable to mix the itinerary, with one day for sightseeing and the next for relaxation.
That's why we also paid close attention to how many activities the accommodation itself offered when booking.
A Morning Surprise: Opening the Curtains!

We arrived at night, you see~
After arriving, we quickly unpacked, got the kids bathed, and promptly fell asleep in a blur of activity.

And then, the next morning. I drew open the balcony curtains and there was a swimming pool right in front of us!!

Even though we had seen photos and booked based on them, seeing it in person felt completely different!
Our room was a 35㎡
Superior King Room with Direct Pool Access, and
it was literally designed so you could step directly into the pool from your room's terrace~!
Just open the door, take a few steps, and you're ready to splash around!!

As soon as the kids saw the pool in the morning, they were already clamoring to go out and play.
And it wasn't just a bare pool either; the surrounding landscaping was absolutely beautifully done~
With rooms nestled among lush green trees and a long stretch of water extending in front,
from the moment I opened the curtains that morning, I knew right then and there that we had truly arrived in paradise.
Morning Splash: Starting with the Main Pool!
Still, we didn't head straight for the pool right outside our room that morning. Instead, we packed our swimsuits and went out to the main pool.
The kids wanted to go to the pool as soon as they woke up, so we quickly got ready after breakfast.
Getting them into their swimsuits, applying sunscreen, putting on hats, and gathering all their water toys,
it actually took quite a while just to get out of the room!

Still, the walk from our room to the main pool wasn't difficult at all.
The kids ran ahead, while I followed behind with towels and water,
and because it was morning, the whole resort was tranquil, creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere~

Mövenpick's main pool is huge, making it perfect for kids to play in~!
There were plenty of sun loungers dotted around the pool,
so it was easy to find a spot to sit and relax while the kids enjoyed their water playtime.

Before the kids jumped in, we made sure to check the water depth first.
When I went in, the water came up to about an adult's waist,
so my eldest and I spent ages playing, swimming back and forth in the main pool.

The main pool was even more beautiful with the ocean visible right in front of it.
The kids were splashing around while I relaxed, gazing out at the sea,
and with the pool and ocean visible all at once, it truly felt like a perfect resort getaway!

What I loved most was that there's a separate area just for younger children!!

When you take young children, like my second child, into a big pool,
parents usually have to hold them constantly, which can be exhausting.
But there's a spacious kids' pool right next to it, and the depth was perfect for my second child to stand in with their feet touching the bottom,
so they played much more comfortably here.

Of course, you still need to keep a close eye on young children regardless of the depth,
but from a child's perspective, being able to walk around and play on their own is a game-changer.
They actually preferred this pool over the main one!
My second child, especially, spent a good amount of time playing independently, repeatedly sitting down and standing up in the water.
Surprisingly, my second child's favorite was the hammock!
And there are hammocks around the pool area too.
You wouldn't believe it, but my second child absolutely loved them! They'd come out from playing in the water, swing in the hammock, then go back into the water, and then back to the hammock again.

You know how sometimes when you go to a resort with kids, they end up spending more time on simple things like this than on expensive facilities? It was exactly like that!

In between, we sat on the beach beds and munched on the snacks we'd brought along.
If they got hungry from all the splashing, we'd wrap them in a towel, give them snacks right away, and then they'd dive back in.

It was so convenient spending the whole morning around the pool area without needing to move far.

Taking a Break from the Water for Chocolate Hour!
After playing all morning, we headed into the resort just in time for Chocolate Hour.
When you think of Movenpick, you simply can't miss their Chocolate Hour, can you?
According to the current official information, Chocolate Hour takes place at Waverly Lounge
daily from 3 PM to 4 PM for resort guests.

We also came in from playing in the water to enjoy it,
but I'll go into more detail about that, along with breakfast and the dinner we had at the resort, in the next post!
With kids, even a simple snack time like this becomes a part of the day's itinerary!
Naptime Done, Now Straight to the Beach!

After indulging in chocolate, it was time for the kids to have a nap.
And that's where another perk of staying at a resort truly shone!

After a wonderful swim in the morning, we came back to our room to clean up and relax.
Once the kids had recharged, it was time to head to the beach!

Mövenpick Resort is directly connected to Ong Lang Beach,
so there was no need to drive anywhere to find the sea.
Step out of the resort, and you're right on the beach!
When traveling with kids, saving even one trip makes a huge difference.
Mövenpick Beach: How was it for playing with the kids?
First off, the sand was wonderfully soft.
It was perfect for kids to play in and even comfortable to walk on barefoot.

The water wasn't quite as clear as the southern part of Kem Beach, which I'd visited before in Phu Quoc.

Compared to the sea near New World Phu Quoc, where we stayed previously, the water color and clarity in the southern area left a stronger impression.

But even so, it was still plenty good.
We played in the sand, went into the water, dug in the sand again... and before we knew it, it was sunset.
Since the resort is on the west side of Phu Quoc, it was perfect for playing by the sea and staying right there until the sun went down.

We didn't even need to go searching for another spot to watch the sunset; it naturally unfolded while the kids were playing.

After all that fun at the beach, more water play?!
We thought it was time to head back to the room, but on the way, we stumbled upon a water gun event.
Yes. We played again.
After playing so much in the pool today and spending hours at the beach, I wondered where all that energy came from!

After more exciting playtime with water guns, we finally made it back to our room.
I honestly thought we were done for the day, you know?!
The true value of the pool access room shone through at this moment.
The first thing the kids looked at upon arriving in the room? The pool right in front of the balcony.
In the end, they went in again, haha!

This is the biggest reason why I'd recommend a pool access room if you're visiting Mövenpick Phu Quoc with kids.

To go to the main pool, you need to pack swimsuits, carry various items, and walk there, but
here, you just open the balcony door and there's the pool!
The depth in front of our room was about waist-high for my child,
and it was incredibly convenient to be able to watch them right from the room when they wanted to play for 'just a little longer'.
Of course, since it's a pool directly connected to the room,
if you're staying with young children, you'll need to pay extra attention to balcony door locks and water safety.

But if you take care of those aspects, this room layout is incredibly convenient for families who love water play!

Just how many times did we go into a pool today?
When I think back, just on this one day alone, we visited:
the main pool and kids' pool in the morning, Mövenpick's beachfront in the afternoon,
and even the pool access right in front of our room in the evening!
We even had a water gun fight in between, so we truly lived in the water all day!

And that's why, staying at the Movenpick, we didn't feel like we missed out by not going out to sightsee.
The kids got to play all day, and parents didn't have to bother moving them around everywhere.
For a family trip to Phu Quoc, spending even just one day like this, solely at the resort, turned out to be more than enough!
So, is a pool access room worth the extra money to book?
If your kids love playing in the water, I highly recommend a pool access room!
Even after playing at the main pool or the beach and returning to your room, you can just open the balcony door and jump right in for another swim,
which really boosts the kids' satisfaction!
Especially if you're traveling with young children, the best part was not having to pack swimsuits, towels, snacks, and so on, and move them around every time.
If you're heading to Phu Quoc with kids who love water play, compare the price difference between a standard room and a pool access room and decide!
The room we stayed in was a Superior King Room with Direct Pool Access.
When you book, make sure the room name includes Direct Pool Access!
With the main pool, the beach, and the pool right outside our room, it was a fantastic place for water fun all day long,
so if you want to relax comfortably with your kids, I'd definitely choose it again~!
