When you're exploring the world with kids, managing travel time and energy becomes the main game – you're always keeping an eye on their mood and stamina, and rightly so!

Phu Quoc, in particular, is brimming with fantastic resort-style accommodations.

But sometimes, resorts can be a little further from the main sights, meaning you might find yourself constantly calling for a Grab or a buggy.

Upon landing, for our first night, I deliberately picked Casamia Hotel – it’s super close to the Hon Thom Island Cable Car station, less than a 10-minute walk!

My reasoning? I had planned a full day of fun at Sunworld Park on Hon Thom Island for the next day, followed by an evening stroll through Sunset Town when we got back.

So, what was the verdict?

We woke up leisurely, enjoyed breakfast, took a pleasant stroll to the cable car station, and then completely immersed ourselves in the fun at Hon Thom Sunworld Park.

And in the afternoon, this accommodation proved to be in the absolute perfect spot to truly soak in the vibes of Sunset Town.

The verdict?

It was an absolute triumph!

1. Reasons I Chose Casamia Hotel

When it came to picking our accommodation, the absolute key factor for me was the distance to the Hon Thom Island Cable Car station and Sunset Town.

We arrived at the airport late in the evening, took our pre-arranged pickup, and checked into Casamia.

After a fantastic night's sleep, we had our next day’s itinerary mapped out: a full exploration of Hon Thom Island.

From Casamia Hotel to the cable car station: a 7-minute walk!

To Sunset Town: an 11-minute walk!

· No need to wait around for a Grab in the morning.

· No extra expenses for Grabs or buggies.

2. Casa Pía Hotel Room & Breakfast Review

The room I stayed in was a main building sea-view twin bed room.

I had no idea when I arrived at night.

But when I opened my eyes in the morning,

the cable car view with the distant sea was

absolutely fantastic!!

The annex building is cheaper than the main building's sea-view rooms;

if you're looking for great value, the annex is a good option too.

Breakfast wasn't a buffet; instead, you ordered individual items from a menu –

you could simply pick whatever you wanted to eat!

A cup of coffee or a beverage is included.

If you're traveling with kids and family,

with so many diverse menu options, you could easily have lunch and dinner here too!

After a hearty meal, let's head over to Hòn Thơm Island!

3. Cable Car + Mango Buffet Combo Ticket

Hold on a sec!!

Don't buy cable car and mango buffet tickets separately.

If you prepare a combo ticket in advance, you can enter directly with a QR code,

so there's no need to queue at the on-site ticket office.

The buffet ticket only requires an additional ~$11 per adult

on top of the cable car admission ticket.

It's much more advantageous to purchase a combined ticket that includes

both the Hòn Thơm Island cable car and the mango buffet.

4. Hon Thom Island: Your Perfect One-Day Itinerary

A place you can enjoy all day long!

The most important thing is the order of activities!!

Because after playing in the water,

you can't enter the buffet in a wet swimsuit.

So, I planned the course this way.

Morning | Cable Car Ride to the Island → Amusement Park

Walk from the hotel to the cable car boarding station.

🔸 Cable Car Operating Hours

· Morning: 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

· Afternoon: 1:30 PM - 5:00 PM

The scenery crossing over the sea is absolutely breathtaking,

making both kids and adults exclaim in awe.

The entire island is Sun World Park. If you go straight in from the entrance,

you'll pass Mango Restaurant, see the water park,

and then the amusement rides are just a 3-minute walk further.

It was great that the waiting times were shorter than I expected.

I visited on a Saturday morning during a weekend in October.

However, there was only a wait for the roller coaster.

Even considering it was a weekend, it was totally worth the wait.

If you bought a Wow Pass, you wouldn't have to wait,

but even without purchasing it,

it was totally doable to enjoy everything.

The sun gets very hot, so the seats can get quite scorching.

If you're wearing short shorts, you might want to be a little careful.

Lunch | Mango Buffet

11:00 AM - 2:30 PM

After all that fun on the rides, I was starting to get hungry.

So, I escaped the heat into the cool, air-conditioned Mango Buffet

to enjoy a meal and some relaxation all at once.

Around noon, it gets really crowded.

Aim for an "open run" (right when it opens) or around 1 PM.

If you avoid the absolute peak time,

you'll be able to enjoy a more relaxed meal.

While there are other restaurants on the island,

being able to enjoy a variety of foods,

plus fruits, desserts, and drinks,

all in one place, felt like a much better deal.

❗Heads Up!

​

While all food items at the Mango Buffet are unlimited,

watermelon juice and beer are limited to one glass per person.

You can only get the watermelon juice and beer by showing a QR code,

and here's the catch:

If you get one watermelon juice,

you won't be able to get a beer afterwards.

I scanned the QR code for a watermelon juice and enjoyed one glass,

then bought a beer separately.

After a hearty lunch, it's time for some water fun!!

This was also where the kids spent the most time.

Sunbeds were free to use,

but renting a bungalow came with a fee.

(However, the price was quite reasonable, so renting one might be a good idea!)

1 hour = 150,000 VND (approximately ~$6)

Water play gear / Change of clothes / Towels / Bottled water

We packed these essentials for the kids' water play.

5. Honest Review: What Could Be Better & How We Handled It

Although we had a blast all day,

it wasn't actually a place everyone was completely satisfied with.

6. We recommend this for people who:

✔️Are planning a family trip with children or parents

✔️Are looking for accommodation with convenient access without needing Grab or buggy cars

✔️Want to fully enjoy Hon Thom Island for an entire day

The accommodation is only a 10-minute walk to the Hon Thom Island cable car, and it's easy to navigate even for first-time Phu Quoc visitors, so there's no stress with transportation.

If you prepare with a combo ticket in advance, for around ~$37, you get not only round-trip cable car rides but also unlimited access to attractions + lunch buffet + water park for a fulfilling day.
