During my honeymoon in Italy, from Rome,

we set aside a day to explore Southern Italy.

From Pompeii to the Amalfi Coast Road,

and all the way to Positano, it was an itinerary packed into a single day.

Even after the trip ended,

it was one of the tours that particularly stuck with me.

At the time, I was with Guide Park Jaebeol,

and his explanations were so engaging,

and the long bus rides never felt boring,

so I was extremely satisfied.

Southern Italy Tour Itinerary: Positano and More, All in One Day

The meeting starts at 6:10 AM

at Hotel Canada,

near Rome Termini Station.

The return time to the same location

after the tour concludes is

around 8:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

It's a full-day tour, lasting about 14 hours.

The overall itinerary looks like this:

Rome Meeting → Mid-way Rest Stop and Italian Breakfast

→ Pompeii Archaeological Park → Group Lunch

→ Sorrento Viewpoint → Amalfi Coast Road

→ Positano Free Time → Return to Rome

It proceeds in this order.

Especially in Positano, you'll have

about 2 hours of free time

to explore the village or

spend your time taking incredible photos.

From April to October, depending on local conditions,

you might even get to use a speedboat,

though they say it can be canceled

on days with strong waves.

As for me, I opted out of the speedboat,

enjoyed some light splashing around by the coast,

and explored the charming shopping streets, picking up some lovely souvenirs!

During my honeymoon,

I could only spare about a day for Southern Italy,

so the guided tour was a perfect fit for us.

If Southern Italy is a must-see but

you don't have the luxury of an overnight stay in Positano,

a day tour definitely shines!

It was incredibly convenient not having to figure out all the transportation options myself

— just hopping on the bus was a breeze.

And getting those insightful explanations

in Pompeii was a huge plus too!

On the flip side, if your main travel goal is to

soak up a relaxed, full day in Positano,

then an independent trip or an itinerary

including an overnight stay (or more!) might be a better fit than a day tour.

Real Review: Amalfi & Positano Honeymoon

I took a Southern Italy tour for my honeymoon,

and even now, Positano remains vividly in my memory.

The Pompeii ruins were fantastic,

and the scenery along the Amalfi Coast road that we saw

while passing by bus was beautiful,

but personally, Positano was my absolute favorite.

It's a place I had seen countless times in photos,

but seeing it in person was even more breathtaking,

so much so that my husband and I promised to come back again,

perhaps for a trip dedicated solely to Positano!

And at the time, our guide, Park Jae-beol,

made the tour so much fun and engaging that

the long travel time

between Rome and Southern Italy was surprisingly not boring at all.

However, since the itinerary covers several places in one day,

it's difficult to spend a long time at each destination.

So, for those who want to see multiple Southern Italy destinations

in one day, it's a huge advantage,

but for those who want to explore Positano itself at a leisurely pace,

this itinerary might feel a bit rushed.

However, if it's your first time traveling to Rome,

I highly recommend a day tour for Southern Italy!

Especially if you want to see Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast road,

and Positano all in one day from Rome,

but finding all the transportation options yourself feels overwhelming,

then a Southern Italy tour is quite a convenient option.
