Toyoko Inn Namba: A 3-Night Review
Budget-Friendly Hotel Near Namba Station
Words & Photos by @Rani
For my recent Osaka trip, the accommodation I chose was
**Toyoko Inn Namba**, incredibly close to Namba Station.
When booking a place to stay, everyone has different priorities, right?
For this Osaka trip, the absolute most important factor for me when choosing accommodation was **location**.
My itinerary involved a lot of walking around Namba, Dotonbori, and Shinsaibashi, plus I planned to travel to Kyoto, so I ruled out any accommodation far from the station right from the start.
Toyoko Inn is a business hotel chain you'll find easily across Japan, so many of you might have heard of it if you've traveled there before!
This time, I experienced a 3-night stay myself, and to get straight to the point:
while the rooms aren't super spacious,
considering the location and price, it was a pretty fantastic place to stay.
Especially if you're like me, a...
✔️ Pedestrian explorer planning to do a lot of walking in Osaka
✔️ Someone looking for accommodation close to Namba Station
✔️ Someone seeking a hotel within walking distance of Dotonbori
✔️ Someone searching for a budget-friendly hotel with breakfast included
then this is definitely a place worth considering!

Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba
Highlights and Advantages
1. Unbeatable Proximity to Namba Station
(Less than 1 minute walk from Namba Station B6 Exit)
This was the aspect I was most satisfied with during my 3-night stay.
Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba's closeness to Namba Station made it an especially convenient location for travelers exploring on foot.
On the day I first arrived,
I took the Nankai Rapi:t express train from the airport, but Namba Station is so massive that I initially struggled to even find the exit, haha!
(If you head towards Exit 22, you'll spot Exit B6)
Knowing the exit location from the start makes it so much easier when you're navigating with luggage.
And it's not just Namba Station –
Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi are also within easy walking distance, which made it super convenient to grab dinner, shop, and then return to the hotel in the evenings.
There were also convenience stores around the hotel, which was a huge plus.
With a Seven-Eleven and Lawson nearby,
it was perfect for picking up snacks or drinks on the way back after a day of exploring.
I grabbed a pudding from the convenience store every single night, haha!
2. Excellent Value Room Rates, Including Breakfast
The second major advantage? Definitely the price.
When I actually stayed there in late September,
based on rooms including breakfast,
a 3-night stay in a single room for one person was around ~$142,
and a double room for two people was about ~$180.
Of course, prices can vary depending on your travel dates, room type,
and when you book, but with breakfast included, it came out to roughly ~$75 per night.
This makes it an excellent option for anyone prioritizing great value when searching for accommodation in Osaka Namba.
Since complimentary breakfast is included,
it was wonderful not having to worry about finding breakfast elsewhere each morning.

3. Convenient Facilities Available in the Lobby
On the first-floor lobby, you'll find...
Having a coffee machine available meant it was perfect for enjoying a cup after returning from a day of exploring.
Plus, there was a water purifier and an ice maker, which came in handy whenever we needed them.
Pajamas and basic amenities were also provided, so you could grab whatever you needed.
Another great perk was the luggage storage space, which was super useful for dropping off bags before check-in or after check-out.
Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba
Downsides
1. Compact Room Size
Given it's a Japanese business hotel, I already knew the rooms would be on the smaller side, so it didn't bother me too much. But yes, it was definitely compact.
It definitely wasn't spacious enough to comfortably lay out a large suitcase!
However, for sleeping, showering, and recharging after a full day of sightseeing, it was perfectly comfortable.
Toyoko Inn Osaka Namba Price Comparison

When booking accommodation for international trips, I usually compare several booking sites.
I check Agoda, Trip.com, and others, also looking at the final price after applying any coupons or credit card discounts.
This time, when I checked, Trip.com had better conditions than Agoda, so I booked through Trip.com.
And checking again for a weekday in November, it was around ~$74, including breakfast and taxes.
However, hotel prices constantly change depending on the date, room type, and booking time, so if your travel dates are set, I recommend checking the prices directly below.

An Honest Review of Toyoko Inn Namba

Check-in and check-out were done via a kiosk.
While staff were present, most of the process was handled by the kiosk.
The accommodation tax of 200 JPY per person was paid at check-in.
After check-in and check-out, luggage storage was also available on the first basement floor.

The room we booked was a Budget Double Room.
It had one double-sized bed, and there were adapters near the bed for charging devices.
There were also charging spots on the desk, but my travel adapter happened to break, so I asked the front desk, and they immediately lent me an adapter, which was super helpful! Haha.

The bathroom was clean, and all amenities were ready and waiting :)

The view was... a building view! Haha.

A desk, TV, refrigerator, electric kettle, hangers, hairdryer, towels, indoor slippers – basically, everything you'd need in a room was provided. However, there was no complimentary bottled water in the fridge.
For water, you could use the water dispenser or grab some from a convenience store.

I figured some of you might be curious about this aspect of traveling too,
I'm sharing this based on my actual experience.
They didn't change the bed sheets daily,
but towel replacements and trash bin emptying were done every day.
Toyoko Inn Namba Free Breakfast Review
Breakfast Hours: 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM

You could enjoy the free breakfast on the 1st and 2nd basement floors,
and when I went around 8:30 AM,
it was pretty crowded.
While it's not a hotel with an incredibly diverse breakfast menu,
it was certainly enough for a satisfying morning meal.
Japanese options like onigiri, miso soup, and yakisoba were available,
along with eggs, sausages, bread, yogurt, and salad.
Personally,
it was perfect for a quick breakfast
before heading straight out for sightseeing!
To sum up my thoughts after a 3-night stay:
This accommodation is highly recommended for travelers who prioritize location and price,
rather than those looking for a hotel with spacious rooms.
Especially for an Osaka trip, if you're spending all day sightseeing,
and mainly just sleeping, showering, and resting at the hotel,
then there's really no need to choose an expensive hotel.
Most importantly, the combination of
a location close to Namba Station + walking distance to Dotonbori +
free breakfast + reasonable price
really impressed me.
Conversely,
if spacious rooms, extensive hotel facilities,
or a 'hotel-cation' vibe are important to you,
then it might be better to look into other accommodations.
For my Osaka trip, I had a packed schedule from morning to night,
so this practical hotel actually suited me perfectly.
