One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of Japanese cuisine is
delicious Wagyu and Sukiyaki.
Especially in Osaka, with Kobe, famous for its beef, located nearby,
Sukiyaki made with high-quality Kobe beef is an incredibly renowned regional specialty.
Today, I'll introduce you to Ushimaru, a fantastic Sukiyaki restaurant

📍 Sukiyaki Kobe Beef Ushimaru Shinsaibashi
Japan 〒542-0083 Osaka, Chuo Ward, Higashishinsaibashi, 2-chōme−8−26 FUKU BLD.心斎橋 2F B号
Kobe Beef Ushimaru is a restaurant conveniently located just a 5-minute walk from Dotonbori or Shinsaibashi Station,
making it highly accessible for travelers.
What's more, it's open until midnight every day,
making it a perfect spot for a late-night Sukiyaki dinner.
During my visit, there was a Korean-speaking staff member, so ordering or
understanding explanations were incredibly easy. Plus, with a variety of other dishes available
alongside Sukiyaki, I felt it offered great value for money.
I stumbled upon it because I was craving Sukiyaki after doing some shopping at Don Quijote and looking for shoes
along the bustling streets connecting Dotonbori to Shinsaibashi.
Since Ushimaru is located on the second floor,
it might be a little tricky to find.
So, let me first guide you on how to get there.

As you follow the location on Google Maps,
you'll find the Fuku Building, just like in the photos.
On the first floor, there's a FamilyMart convenience store, and
if you head to the left of the convenience store, you'll find the stairs leading up.

Whether you take the elevator or the stairs,
you'll see two restaurant entrances side-by-side; Ushimaru's entrance is the one on the right.

As soon as I stepped inside Ushimaru, I was struck by how spacious and immaculately clean it felt.
Given that Sukiyaki is a relatively upscale dish, the interior also exuded a luxurious Japanese-style ambiance.
Near the entrance, there were about four counter seats and three tables for four people.

Also, refillable sauces, vegetables, eggs,
and even desserts were set up on one side.
Since it's all-you-can-eat, it looked fantastic to be able to freely grab and enjoy as much as you like without feeling awkward!

There were also additional seats available further inside the restaurant.

On the right, there were open, communal tables,
and on the left, private seating for 4 to 6 people.
We had a reservation for a late dinner past 9 PM,
and they guided us to a private table.
Next, let me introduce Ushimaru's Sukiyaki menu.

over 50 different side dishes, including sushi, fried items, and desserts.
Plus, the 100-minute all-you-can-drink option (including alcohol)
for just 1000 yen offers incredible value, so you can drink to your heart's content with your sukiyaki!
Since I had come all the way to Osaka, I decided to order the Kobe Beef Sukiyaki with
the all-you-can-drink option. Let me share my truly satisfying experience.

First, the initial sukiyaki pot was prepared with Wagyu beef,
and they also set out eggs, rice, and extra broth.
The staff poured the sukiyaki broth for us directly,
and it already looked so appetizing just by watching.
For your reference, it was served as Kanto-style sukiyaki,
where ingredients and broth are cooked together in the pot.

After that, additional orders for meat, drinks, or side dishes
could be made via QR code.
The ordering menu also supported Korean translation,
and being able to order non-face-to-face was really convenient.

For the first order, various cuts that could be ordered
came out together in small portions by type.
From Kobe beef to Wagyu, pork neck, and pork belly,
we could enjoy a variety of meats with sukiyaki.

Looking into the sukiyaki pot, below the meat,
various vegetables like water celery, onions, tofu, konjac, carrots, and mushrooms
were simmering together.
Eating these vegetables, simmered in a sweet soy-sauce-based broth,
with the meat is truly delicious.

Before we really started digging into the sukiyaki,
We started by ordering our drinks.
We ordered a peach liqueur sodawari (soda cocktail) and draft beer,
and they were generously served in large glasses, which was a nice touch.
And the beer was incredibly smooth and refreshing!

Next, we whisked the egg to dip our sukiyaki meat into.
It wasn't fishy at all, and the rich yolk flavor was absolutely superb.
Since the eggs are also freely refillable,
feel free to dip your meat generously!

After preparing everything, we started cooking various cuts of meat,
from Wagyu to samgyeopsal (pork belly), in the pot.

The meat, simmered in the sweet and savory sauce,
and then dipped into the mild egg, had its flavors beautifully balanced,
and it was incredibly delicious – a perfect pairing!
What's more, the meat was so tender and utterly delightful.

However, the absolute highlight among all the meats in the course was definitely
the high-quality Kobe Beef.
From its vibrant color to its stunning marbling,
it had a visual appeal that promised an incredibly delicious sukiyaki experience.

Each slice of this meat is said to be about 40-50g.
Because it's thinly sliced, you just pick up a piece,
dip it briefly into the pot, and it cooks almost instantly.

Kobe Beef is characterized by its beautiful marbling,
which naturally makes it richer.
This richness pairs perfectly with the mild egg dip,
and with every bite, a burst of succulent juices floods your palate,
making it an exceptional match for a bowl of rice!

The Kobe Beef suited our taste so incredibly well that
we ended up ordering four more slices.
Normally, enjoying sukiyaki with this quality of Kobe Beef as an à la carte item elsewhere would be quite pricey,
but the fact that we could just order additional Kobe Beef was absolutely wonderful.

Luxuriously, we piled the Kobe Beef into the pot all at once,
and feasting on it to our hearts' content was pure bliss.
I think the two of us easily devoured over 10 slices of Kobe Beef that day!
Next, let me introduce you to the various side dishes we enjoyed
alongside our sukiyaki.

There were several types of sushi available too, so we tried the cheese egg sushi and
the seared salmon sushi.
The rice grains were perfectly fluffy, and the toppings were delicious,
so the sushi quality was even better than we expected.
The egg sushi, in particular, was sweet and moist,
and it was absolutely perfect for my palate.

Moving on, the quality of their tempura selection was also incredible!
You can order unlimited shrimp and vegetable tempura too.

They come out freshly fried, so they're incredibly hot,
with a thin, crispy batter and a texture that's simply superb.
Dip them in the special salt, and the umami flavor really comes alive,
and they pair so well with beer that I ended up refilling twice!

Beyond tempura, they also offer various fried items (known as 'fry' in Japan),
and I decided to order the scallop katsu.
While tempura boasts a light and crisp texture,
these katsu-style fries are thickly breaded with panko.
That extra thickness meant an even more satisfying crunch,
and the scallops were wonderfully chewy and delicious.

During the 100-minute all-you-can-eat time slot, when 15 minutes remain,
the staff kindly inform you it's the last call.
For our final round, we ordered more Shangdighafu beer and peach liqueur,
along with some additional food items and dessert.

The extra food item we ordered was takoyaki,
which came served separately from its sauce.
The takoyaki had a slightly crispy exterior,
while the inside was soft and a little gooey,
and being freshly cooked made them even more delicious.
These were also a fantastic match for beer!

Finishing off with green tea ice cream for dessert,
we truly ended our meal feeling incredibly full and satisfied!

Today, I've had the pleasure of introducing you to a fantastic sukiyaki spot near Osaka's Dotonbori,
Kobe Beef Ushimaru Shinsaibashi.
You can enjoy high-quality Kobe beef sukiyaki with unlimited refills,
and also indulge in excellent tempura, katsu-style fried dishes, and even sushi,
all in one sitting, making for a truly satisfying experience.
(Plus, there were so many other dishes available, like Kaisen-don!)

What's more, the all-you-can-drink option, including alcoholic beverages, was an incredibly affordable 1,000 yen,
allowing us to enjoy unlimited beer with our meal.
They filled our large mugs generously with beer and other drinks,
making it a truly happy time of eating and drinking to our heart's content.
If you're visiting Osaka and craving sukiyaki made with premium Kobe beef,
I highly recommend this place.
It's conveniently located near Dotonbori and the Shinsaibashi shopping arcade,
