Osaka Soraniwa Onsen

Hello, this is Yullo!
On the last day of our Osaka trip, my mom looked incredibly exhausted after walking for miles every day.
So, I completely changed our travel plans.
Right after checking out of our accommodation, we headed straight to Soraniwa Onsen.
In hindsight, it turned out to be the most satisfying part of our entire Osaka trip for my mom.

Traveling with Parents?
If you're traveling with your parents, the last day can often be the most challenging.
In Japan, it's common to walk several miles a day, leaving your legs aching.
Dragging luggage around doesn't help, and with hours to spare before your flight, you might be unsure where to go.
This trip made me realize that on the most tiring final day, it's less about sightseeing and more about how comfortably you can wrap up your journey.
Why We Chose This Over a Traditional Ryokan
Initially, I thought we'd need to stay overnight at a ryokan to truly experience a Japanese hot spring.
However, after checking prices, I found them to be quite a significant expense.
Soraniwa Onsen, on the other hand, allowed us to enjoy the authentic Japanese onsen atmosphere for about ~$21, without needing to stay overnight.
The ability to enjoy hot springs, relax, dine, and spend the final day of our trip at a leisurely pace was what appealed to me most.
Choosing Soraniwa Onsen instead of a ryokan left us with no regrets at all.

Spend an Entire Day Here
I expected it to be just a hot spring facility, but the complex was much larger than I anticipated.
Beyond indoor and outdoor baths, you can enjoy a yukata experience and even a foot bath in the outdoor garden.

Indoors, there were game machines, restaurants, cafes, and other well-equipped relaxation areas, making the time fly by.
We relaxed comfortably before heading to the airport.
My mom absolutely loved it, which confirmed that changing our final itinerary was a great decision.
Who We Especially Recommend This For
We recommend Soraniwa Onsen for: |
1. Those planning an Osaka trip with parents. |
2. Families traveling with children. |
3. Travelers with a long layover after hotel check-out before their flight. |
4. Anyone who doesn't want to keep moving around with luggage. |
5. Those who want to end their trip on a relaxed note. |
If any of these resonate with you,
you might find it beneficial to adjust your last day's itinerary, just like I did.
Final Thoughts
Soraniwa Onsen is a highly popular hot spring in Osaka, even locals queue up for its opening.
The time spent relaxing with family and winding down our trip turned out to be the most memorable part.
I highly recommend it to anyone traveling with parents or children, or those simply looking to soothe their travel fatigue in a hot spring.
