It's my third time visiting Osaka Solaniwa Onsen!

After having a blast at Universal Studios,

it's the perfect place to unwind and relax in the evening.

In this post, I'll cover everything from Solaniwa Onsen's location

to what to pack, prices, and how to make a reservation.

Let's dive in!

Location

Solaniwa Onsen is conveniently located right in front of Bentencho Station.

It's about 13 minutes from Universal Studios,

and roughly 20 minutes by subway from Namba Station.

While it's a bit removed from central Osaka,

if you're planning a visit to Universal Studios,

I highly recommend combining the two for a seamless day out!

Operating Hours: Daily, 11 AM - 11 PM

Last Entry: 10 PM

Reservations

Tickets sold on the official website are ~$16,

but booking in advance through Klook is significantly cheaper.

Currently, there's a 20% off Cherry Blossom promotion going on,

so you can purchase tickets for ~$12.

If your itinerary includes Universal Studios,

it's financially much more beneficial to purchase the Kansai Joy Pass

(~$73 savings).

If you're not visiting Universal, then purchasing individual admission tickets

is definitely the better option.

What to Pack

When visiting Solaniwa Onsen, you barely need to bring anything

except for extra underwear!

Towels are provided before you enter the open-air baths and outdoor footbaths,

and you'll find everything from shampoo, conditioner, body wash,

hair dryers, combs, cleansing foam, cleansing oil, and even lotion.

They've truly thought of everything!

You can choose your yukata as soon as you enter,

and they have a wide range of sizes available for both children and adults.

You can wear your yukata over your underwear.

There are separate changing rooms provided

before you use the main bath facilities.

My Experience

Upon entry, you'll store your shoes in a shoe locker,

and you'll carry two keys: one for your shoes and one for the changing room.

You'll use your shoe locker key to pay for amenities

like massage chairs and vending machines, so keep it safe!

From the changing room, head straight to find the elevator that leads to the outdoor garden.

If the weather is chilly, it's a good idea to bring a light jacket with you.

This is the rooftop garden! It's beautifully decorated everywhere,

giving it that perfect Instagram vibe and making it incredibly pretty.

There are foot bath areas scattered throughout,

and soaking my feet in the warm water definitely helped relieve the fatigue

after a long day at Universal Studios.

The outdoor garden itself is quite spacious with plenty to see,

making it perfect for a leisurely stroll and some fantastic photos.

There are also photo zones, but the ambiance isn't really anything special during the day...!

Honestly, the outdoor garden and photo zones

seem much prettier at night, thanks to the lighting.

Ganbanyoku (Rock Bath)

If you add about ~$9 to the basic package,

you can access the area to enjoy Ganbanyoku.

Instead of a yukata, you'll need to wear a jjimjilbang-style outfit (sauna wear),

so make sure to purchase the package that includes Ganbanyoku when you make your reservation.

Grand Public Bath

The path to the Grand Public Bath is straight ahead, opposite the changing rooms.

You'll find quite a few photo zones along the way here too!

There are also many fun activities like Gacha shops, arcades, and even fishing,

so I think kids would absolutely love it here.

Compared to restaurants at rest stops or airports,

the prices at the restaurant here seem pretty reasonable.

The grand bath features a garden bath overlooking an outdoor garden,

along with a silk bath, open-air bath, carbonated bath, and more, divided into 9 different types.

There are also saunas and a body scrub shop.

After your bath, treating yourself to a massage chair and even some vending machine milk?

Pure bliss...!

When you leave, simply tap your key at the kiosk

and pay for your bathing tax and any additional services, and you're all set!
