Onitsuka Tiger Osaka Shinsaibashi: Mexico 66 Haul & Savings (2026)
Scored three pairs of Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 at Osaka's Shinsaibashi store! Our daughters got Silver kids' (160mm, 210mm) and I snagged SD Birch Silver (230mm). Saved big compared to US prices!
Quick answer
- Onitsuka Tiger Shinsaibashi is at Shinsaibashi Asset Building, 1-4-22 Shinsaibashisuji, Chuo Ward, Osaka.
- The store is open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
- We paid 31,000 JPY, roughly ~$197 USD, for three pairs of shoes.
- Compared to US official retail prices, we saved approximately ~$125 USD.
- Onitsuka Tiger shoes generally run true to size; consider foot width and instep height.
One of the items I absolutely wanted to buy during this Osaka trip
was definitely a pair of Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers.
I'd heard that they're cheaper to buy in Japan than in Korea,
and with the yen being so low right now,
I decided this was the perfect time to grab a pair.

But as I was browsing at the Shinsaibashi store,
I couldn't help but notice the kids' shoes too!
In the end, I bought two pairs for my 4-year-old and 9-year-old daughters,
plus a pair for myself — three pairs in total!
And when I compared them to the prices on the official Korean website,
the difference was much bigger than I expected!

Shinsaibashi is a popular spot for shopping during an Osaka trip, right?
We also wandered around Shinsaibashi
and checked out several stores.
Among them, Onitsuka Tiger was a place
I definitely wanted to visit on this trip.
Originally, I went to buy just one pair of sneakers for myself,
but once I started looking at the kids' shoes too,
I just couldn't resist! Haha.
Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 Silver,
Why I chose them for my daughters?
While I was looking at kids' shoes in the store,
the Mexico 66 Silver immediately caught my eye.
They have a shimmering silver base
with bright lines,
and they look even prettier in person than in photos!

Honestly, I wondered if silver sneakers would be too flashy.
But I thought they'd actually be a great focal point on kids,
and they'd look perfect with jeans or leggings.
And best of all, how adorable would it be for sisters to wear matching shoes!

So, I ended up choosing the silver color for both!
The kids' shoes have elastic laces
and Velcro straps,
making them super easy to put on and take off.
Especially for my younger daughter (4 years old), who sometimes
still needs my help putting on her shoes, this feature was a big plus.
Onitsuka Tiger Kids Sizes:
Should You Buy True to Size?
When buying shoes in Japan,
what I worried about most was definitely the size.
It's hard to exchange them once you're back in Korea,
and kids' feet grow so fast, which adds to the concern, right?

So, I've compiled the model numbers and sizes
we purchased.
Category | Model Number | Purchased Size |
Younger Daughter (4 yrs old) | 1184A074 | 160mm |
Older Daughter (9 yrs old) | 1184A049 | 210mm |
Mom | 1183A592 | 230mm |
All three of us bought our usual, true-to-size footwear.
Since kids' feet grow so quickly,
I did consider buying a size up,
but this time I intentionally didn't choose a larger size.

While it's good for kids' sneakers to last a long time,
it's even more important for them to be comfortable for walking.
For reference, both kids' shoes are the Mexico 66 Kids Silver color,
but their detailed model numbers are different.
The younger daughter's is 1184A074
and the older daughter's is 1184A049.
If you look at the photos, there are slight differences
not just in shoe size but also in design.

If you're wondering about Onitsuka Tiger kids' sizes,
refer to their usual shoe size,
but also consider their foot width and instep height.
Mom's Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD
Birch Silver!
After picking out shoes for the kids,
it was my turn to choose my own sneakers, right?
Unlike the kids, I was drawn to a slightly calmer color
rather than a full silver look.
So, what I chose was
the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 SD Birch Silver.

Model Name: MEXICO 66 SD
Product Number: 1183A592
Color: BIRCH/SILVER (Birch Silver)
Purchased Size: 230mm
You might be curious about what Birch Silver looks like.
It's not a pure stark white,
but rather an ivory shade with a hint of creaminess.
With silver lines as a stylish accent,
it's far from bland, and it's truly beautiful in person!

Since I often wear jeans,
I thought they'd be versatile and go well with many outfits.
And what I bought wasn't the regular Mexico 66,
but the Mexico 66 SD model.
SD stands for Super Deluxe,
which means it's a premium line featuring
high-quality leather and OrthoLite insoles.

I usually wear sneakers in size 230mm,
and I purchased these in 230mm as well, without sizing up.

Kids in Silver, Mom in Birch Silver!
While they're not exactly identical designs,
the silver accents give them a matching feel,
and I absolutely love this combination.
Onitsuka Tiger Japan Price:
How Much Did Three Pairs Cost?
Alright, let's talk about the price – probably the most curious part of this shopping trip!
We purchased our Onitsuka Tiger shoes on
October 2, 2026.

On that day, we bought three pairs at the Shinsaibashi store
and paid a total of 31,000 JPY.
At the time, the exchange rate was about 851.5 KRW per 100 JPY!
Converted to Korean Won, that was approximately ~$197.

This amount included both pairs of kids' sneakers
and my Mexico 66 SD.
It was a period when the Japanese Yen had dropped significantly,
making it great for shopping in Japan, and calculating the actual payment
amount made me even more satisfied.
Of course, exchange rates vary depending on when you convert currency,
and there may be differences in the actual applied amount.

Onitsuka Tiger: Korean Prices vs. Japanese Prices –
What's the Difference?
After returning to Korea, I was curious, so I looked up
the prices on Onitsuka Tiger's official Korean website.

Comparing them based on the model numbers and colors I purchased,
the difference was quite significant.
Purchased Item | Korean Official Mall Price |
Kids Silver 1184A074 | ~$75 |
Kids Silver 1184A049 | ~$82 |
SD Birch Silver 1183A592 | ~$165 |
Total | ~$322 |
The total displayed price on the Korean official mall was ~$322!

But since I purchased them in Japan for 31,000 yen,
at the exchange rate at the time, that was about ~$197.
I wanted to compare the price difference.
Price Comparison | Amount |
Korean Official Mall Total | ~$322 |
Actual Payment in Japan | 31,000 yen |
KRW Equivalent (approx.) | ~$197 |
Price Difference | ~$124 |
Savings Rate | approx. 39% |
An incredible price difference of about ~$124!

Initially, I only planned to buy one pair of shoes for myself,
but ultimately, I felt it was a great decision to purchase shoes for my daughters as well.

Of course, this comparison is based on the prices listed on the Korean official mall,
so the perceived price difference might vary depending on domestic discounts or the actual exchange rate applied.

Still, saving this much by buying three pairs just had me feeling thrilled! Haha.
Three Pairs of Onitsuka Tiger from Osaka: Even Cuter When Lined Up!
Back in Korea, I took out all three pairs of shoes
and lined them up to take some photos.
My 4-year-old's second pair: 160mm
My 9-year-old's first pair: 210mm
Mom's: 230mm
Two pairs of small silver sneakers,
plus my own Birch Silver sneakers!
Lined up like this, they look absolutely adorable.

Initially, I was just going to buy one pair of sneakers for myself,
but somehow I ended up with three pairs, including my daughters' shoes! Haha.
The kids have matching silver colors,
and I chose an ivory and silver combination.
Even though they're not exactly identical, they really feel like family shoes.
Most importantly, the Japanese Yen exchange rate was favorable this time,
and when compared to the Korean official mall prices,
the significant difference made it an even more satisfying shopping experience.

If you're planning to shop for Onitsuka Tiger during your Osaka trip,
be sure to stop by the Shinsaibashi store.
Especially if you're considering the MEXICO 66 Silver kids' sizes
or the MEXICO 66 SD Birch Silver,
you might want to refer to the model names we purchased.

For our next family outing, I'll definitely have us wear these three matching pairs
and capture a memorable photo! :)
