October in Osaka offers delightful weather for exploring. Daytime high temperatures typically range from 73-75°F, while evenings can cool down to 55-61°F.
There's a noticeable temperature swing between day and night, so while you might be comfortable in a short-sleeved top or a light shirt during the day, it's wise to pack a cardigan or a light jacket for the cooler mornings and evenings.
The chance of rain is around 31%, meaning you might encounter about 9 to 11 rainy days throughout the month. However, as October progresses, the weather becomes even crisper, and the vibrant autumn foliage begins to emerge, making it a truly wonderful time to visit.

Namba, Nipponbashi, Tsutenkaku Areas
For me, the hotel room's condition isn't the top priority since we'll mostly be out exploring. My focus was on finding places with excellent locations and great value, especially for a family of four.

Traveling with kids, I was really focused on finding a convenient spot. Ideally, I wanted to be within a 10-minute walk of Namba Station and Dotonbori.
While not directly at Namba Station, it's connected to Nipponbashi Station via an underground passage, which means a cooler and more comfortable walk, especially on warmer days!
Reviews frequently praise their coin laundry facilities and friendly staff. However, the rooms are on the smaller side, which might feel a bit cramped for a family of four.

Eslead Hotel Namba South II
This hotel is a short 4-5 minute walk from Ebisu-cho and Tsutenkaku Tower. It features an apartment-style layout, offering spacious rooms complete with a kitchen, a large refrigerator, and a stovetop. This makes it an excellent choice for those who prefer to cook their own meals or are planning a longer stay.
Many guests rave about the convenience of having a washing machine right in their room, coupled with a fantastic drying system in the bathroom.
However, while it's right in front of Ebisu-cho Station, reaching Namba Station often requires a transfer at Shin-Imamiya Station or a 15-minute walk, which is something to consider if you plan on frequenting the Namba area.

Osaka Hinode Hotel Nipponbashi
This is a fantastic spa hotel featuring a deep-water hot spring, perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. Many families love this hotel for its excellent value, especially with the complimentary drink and alcohol service available from 3 PM to 8 PM daily.
They even offer free ramen between 9 PM and 10 PM, which is a huge bonus!
The main drawback is its distance from Namba Station, about a 15-minute walk. Given our busy itinerary, we likely wouldn't be back at the hotel early enough to fully enjoy all the evening perks, which felt a bit like a missed opportunity.

Osaka Budget-Friendly Hotels for Families of Four
Osaka Travel Preparation
After booking your flights and accommodation, the next crucial step is registering with Visit Japan Web.
By pre-entering your passport information, flight details, and hotel address in English, you can significantly speed up the immigration process upon arrival.
For staying connected, I highly recommend preparing an eSIM in advance. It's super convenient – you just install it using a QR code at the airport, and you're good to go! I'm still weighing eSIM vs. international roaming, but eSIM often offers better value.
Regarding currency exchange, I plan to use a travel card (like a Wise or Revolut card) to exchange Yen when the rates are favorable and then withdraw cash from local ATMs in Japan as needed.
Based on October's weather, here’s what to pack:
A light jacket or cardigan, a portable umbrella (just in case!), comfortable walking shoes (you'll be doing a lot of walking!), and sunscreen, as the sun can still be quite strong. Don't forget your travel insurance, any necessary medications, and a universal adapter for your electronics.
