Osaka Namba Yakiniku Restaurant
Our Toranitsuno Experience
If you're heading to Japan, yakiniku is undoubtedly one of those culinary experiences you absolutely can't miss. On my most recent trip, I finally managed to snag a reservation at Toranitsuno, a spot I'd heard so much about but could never get into because of its immense popularity.
Given its reputation, showing up without a reservation usually means a long wait, so booking ahead was definitely the smart move. And let me tell you, it was an excellent decision!
I'm excited to share my honest review, covering why this place is such a hit, the variety of yakiniku cuts they offer, and, of course, how delicious everything tasted.

2. Seating & Atmosphere

The restaurant offers both counter seating and traditional table seating. While not overly spacious, it comfortably accommodates about 20 diners.
Even with a reservation, the place was already bustling with people when I arrived, further cementing its reputation as a local hotspot.

The counter seats seemed popular with couples and friends, while the table areas were mostly occupied by families.
Stepping inside, the rich aroma of grilling yakiniku instantly hit me, making my stomach rumble with anticipation!
I started with a refreshing beer and took my time browsing the menu before placing my order.
3. Menu & Pricing
Among the most popular choices are the 'Tiger Omakase Assortment' for ~$4 and the 'Wagyu 8-Cut Assortment' for ~$57. Many diners also enjoy side dishes like cold noodles (naengmyeon) and rice balls.

I opted for the 'Tiger Assortment,' which included beautiful cuts of short rib, skirt steak, short plate, flank steak, and hanger steak, along with an additional order of hanger steak and two beers.
As you can see, the portions were generous and the meat looked incredibly fresh. I just knew it was going to be delicious!
4. Our Dining Experience

We immediately placed the cuts onto the charcoal grill, cooking them to our preferred doneness. Each piece of meat was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth.

What truly stood out was the superb natural flavor of the meat, even without any heavy seasoning. We devoured it all in no time!
The accompanying dipping sauce, made with green onions and chili powder, added an extra layer of savory depth, enhancing the overall experience.

Mid-meal, I craved something refreshing, so we ordered cold noodles. The noodles were perfectly chewy, with a delightful sweet and tangy broth that paired wonderfully with the rich yakiniku.

The hanger steak was another absolute highlight! By simply searing the outside and asking the staff, we were able to enjoy it tataki-style, thinly sliced and lightly seared.
The hanger steak was incredibly tender, with no tough bits, making for a truly enjoyable yakiniku feast with my friend.
5. Overall Verdict
With its fantastic location near Osaka's Namba and Nippombashi stations, Toranitsuno offers excellent accessibility. Its popularity among locals, often resulting in long queues, means making a reservation is absolutely essential for a smooth dining experience.
Indeed, the restaurant was packed during our visit, and the yakiniku lived up to its hype, melting in our mouths. The staff were friendly, and having menus available in English made ordering completely hassle-free.
If you're traveling to Osaka in 2026 with family or your significant other and are searching for a top-notch yakiniku spot, I highly recommend checking out Toranitsuno!
It was truly one of the most memorable yakiniku restaurants my friend and I have visited!
