When you think of Japan, one of the first foods that comes to mind is ramen, right?
If you're heading to Osaka,
you're probably planning to enjoy a bowl of ramen for at least one meal.
Today, I'm excited to introduce you to a ramen spot near Namba that I absolutely loved,
with a fantastic local vibe!

Sanpomen Namba Nihonbashi 三豊麺 なんば日本橋店 Operating Hours: Daily 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM Location: 2 Chome-1-23 Nanbanaka, Naniwa Ward, Osaka |
The ramen spot I visited is called Sanpomen.
It's located right at the entrance to Denden Town and is just a 3-minute walk from Nankai Namba Station. This makes it a perfect spot for your first meal upon arriving in Osaka, or a quick bite before heading to the airport.
I hear it was even open before the pandemic, so it's definitely a long-standing ramen favorite that people consistently love!

The exterior has a charming, aged look with a wooden door, giving it a wonderfully authentic local feel.
Since the menu is displayed outside, you can easily browse it before deciding to step in, which is always a plus!

You'll place your order yourself at the ticket vending machine located to the left of the entrance.
Just a quick tip: the restaurant can get busy, so make sure to check for available seats before getting your ticket!

First, insert your money into the machine, then select your desired menu item, and a ticket like the one on the right will be dispensed.
Hand this ticket to a staff member, and your order is complete!

Sanpomen's menu is quite unique.
Their Tonkotsu ramen comes in ▶️White, Black, and Red varieties,
and their Gyokai Tsukemen also has ▶️Original, Black, and Red options.
Aside from the colors, the main difference lies in the toppings, so you can simply choose whichever you prefer!
Also, take note that the very top of the menu features set meals. You can add rice for 150 yen, extra ramen noodles for 150 yen, and extra tsukemen noodles for 120 yen!

We were guided to seats at the counter on the first floor.
While it might look a bit small inside, there's also a separate area on the second floor that can accommodate up to 12 people.
It has the vibe of a long-standing, traditional ramen shop, which instantly made me feel like the taste would be absolutely guaranteed!

Once an order was placed, a staff member would immediately start boiling the noodles.
They even used a timer for each type of ramen and tsukemen, ensuring the noodles were cooked for the exact right amount of time before being pulled out – talk about precision!

Each table is equipped with condiments like chili oil, vinegar, and sesame seeds,
so you can customize your dish to your liking.
Plus, you'll find chopsticks, water cups, and toothpicks readily available for you to use yourself!
What caught my eye was the "Joy Box" —
a gachapon machine right on our table!
It was my first time seeing such a miniature capsule toy dispenser,
and I found myself wondering, 'Who would play this?'

Since we visited for our last meal before heading to the airport,
we started by ordering a beer.
They only had bottled beer, and honestly, it wasn't as cold as I would've liked.
Still, getting to use these cool, branded glasses
really added to the vibe and made the experience more enjoyable!

Our food arrived in less than 10 minutes – talk about quick service!
📍First up, the Tsukemen with an added egg was ~$7.
It came with a generous bowl of noodles
and a smaller, separate bowl of dipping soup.

The soup was a rich, concentrated seafood-based broth,
and the noodles were wonderfully thick and chewy, with a perfect bounce.
Topped with a perfectly cooked egg,
the dish also looked incredibly appealing!

Personally, I love to really drench my noodles in the soup before taking a bite.
This rich, concentrated soup, bursting with umami from the fish,
paired exceptionally well with the noodles.
As expected from a restaurant renowned for its Tsukemen,
the noodles were perfectly springy and delightfully chewy!

📍Our next dish was the Special Tonkotsu Ramen, also ~$7
It came topped with classic ingredients like menma, tender pork, and an egg,
but the real highlight? That incredibly rich-looking broth!

Because the broth was so rich and the noodles were thin,
they really soaked up all that amazing flavor with every lift.
My first bite was a delightful combination with the chashu pork!

The broth was even richer and more robust than I expected
from a Tonkotsu ramen.
Its deep flavor reminded me of Korea's hearty *Dwaeji Gukbap* (pork soup with rice),
and I honestly wanted to order a bowl of rice to mix in!
But don't worry, it wasn't overly greasy in an uncomfortable way,
so if you're a Tonkotsu lover, you're definitely in for a treat!

From the moment you step in, Sanpōmen exudes that authentic local ramen shop atmosphere,
the kind you know Japanese locals frequent.
They specialize in two incredible dishes:
Tonkotsu Ramen and Gyokai Tsukemen,
and honestly, both were absolutely delicious!
✅ Conveniently located near Nankai Namba Station,
this is the perfect spot for a casual yet satisfying bowl of ramen,
whether it's your first meal in the city or a memorable last one before you depart.
If you're a ramen lover, you absolutely have to pay them a visit!
