Osaka Namba Restaurants
Our personal, no-ad recommendations!

Why did we come to Osaka?
To conquer the food scene, of course!
In today's post, we're sharing some fantastic, lesser-known spots that are just as delicious as the famous ones.
Get ready to discover the best Osaka Namba restaurants!
Osaka Namba Restaurants
1. New Sushi Center Harukaya Ura Namba Branch

📍 New Sushi Center Harukaya Ura Namba Branch
14-1 Nanbasennichimae, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0075 Japan
We stumbled upon this gem while walking from the Rapit train station to our hotel.
If you're looking for a great value sushi spot, this is it!
There were hardly any tourists, mostly Japanese locals waiting in line.
The restaurant is small, but it has outdoor seating and a second floor, so we got in surprisingly quickly.
(We waited about 20 minutes.)

The weather was perfect, and we really wanted an outdoor table – and luckily, one opened up!
The chairs were a little uncomfortable, but we were too happy to care!
They have an English menu, and ordering via QR code was super convenient.

Among the sushi varieties, the standouts were the egg, crab paste, and tuna!
The sea urchin (uni) was just okay.
And seriously, this place is also a tempura paradise!
The mozzarella tempura and crab cream croquettes were absolutely divine...
Make sure everyone gets their own crab cream croquette!
For two of us, with sushi, tempura, and beer, the bill came out to around ~$45. What a steal!
2. Nama Horumon Itadaki Namba

📍 Nama Horumon Itadaki Namba
13-7 Nanbasennichimae, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0075 Japan
On our last night, feeling a bit sad for the trip to end, we searched for a restaurant near our hotel and found this one.
Turns out, it's a popular Namba spot where reservations are a must for dinner!
The food was delicious, but what made it even better was the friendly and charming staff who spoke English.
We left with happy bellies and even happier memories.

Everything on the menu was tasty, though the beef tripe was just average for us.
If I had to recommend must-try dishes, it would be the beef tongue, fatty cuts, kalbi (short ribs), and the assorted horumon platter!

I'm not usually a huge fan of beef tongue, but the beef tongue here was truly incredible.
Make sure to add extra green onions and pile them on!
And definitely try the fatty cuts.
They're juicy, savory, and literally melt in your mouth...
For two people, we ordered five types of meat and four drinks, and it came out to about ~$35.
3. Ichiran Ramen

📍 Ichiran Dotonbori Annex
1-chōme-4-16 Dōtonbori, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0071 Japan
Ichiran Ramen is a cult favorite that almost everyone loves.
The biggest perk is that it's open 24 hours, so you can grab a bowl anytime, day or night.
Just a heads up, if you go after 10 PM, there's a late-night surcharge, so it ends up being a bit pricier.

We added a few toppings and ordered beer, and for two of us, it was about ~$32. Pretty standard for a personalized ramen experience!
I personally love adding green onions, wood ear mushrooms, and an egg.
For the spice level, I usually go for about 4-5.
If you add too much spicy sauce, it can sometimes overpower the ramen's unique flavor.
I really enjoy Ichiran Ramen's signature 'solo dining booths' – it's such a unique experience.
We polished off our bowls with a beer and left completely satisfied!
4. Furatto

📍 ふらっ~と。居酒家 難波店
1-chōme-9-8 Nanbanaka, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0011 Japan
Furatto, an izakaya near Namba Station, felt like a friendly neighborhood hangout.
They have an English menu, and the owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly towards international visitors.

There's a seating charge of ~$3, and for appetizers, they served quail eggs and konnyaku stew.
We had already eaten dinner, so we just ordered potato salad and five pieces of oden (fish cake stew) for our second round.
I already love oden, but Japan's version is truly next level.
The daikon radish and tofu were incredibly delicious!
Especially the daikon...
Why can't we get this flavor back home?

And the potato salad was, hands down, the best I've ever had!
It was around ~$3, but the quality was absolutely insane.
Mashed potatoes packed with bacon, crab meat, and so many other delicious ingredients.
This dish alone is enough to enjoy a few beers.
Next time I go for dinner, I'd love to try their hot pot dishes or sashimi
(the owner apparently catches the fish himself!)
Osaka is truly a city of incredible food, and a culinary tour is an absolute must during your trip!
