The Osaka Festival of Lights has been running since 2013,
and it's one of Osaka's signature winter festivals held every year.
This year marks its 14th edition.
It's a period when various parts of the city are adorned with lights to attract more visitors to winter Osaka.

Among them, the flagship event is the Midosuji Illumination!
They say this year's theme is LINK.
With the 90th anniversary of Midosuji's opening coming up next May,
the lighting is designed with the history of Osaka from the 1940s to the present
as its concept.
TMI: In Osaka in November, the sun sets around 5 PM.
If you head out around sunset, you can witness the lights turning on as the sun goes down,
and then enjoy the brilliant illuminations after dark – a two-for-one viewing experience!

3. 26.11.03: My Firsthand Experience

On the day I was staying at Candeo Hotels Osaka The Tower,
I went out around midnight to go to a convenience store and stumbled upon it by chance!
Honestly... I hadn't actually checked the dates beforehand...
So, I was lucky to see it, and since it was the first day of the illumination,
there weren't many people, making it perfect for taking photos!
The problem was I had just come out after a sauna to grab a late-night snack,
so my condition... wasn't exactly photo-ready ㅠ.ㅠ
(Still, I took about 100 photos;;)

I walked for about 30 minutes around Yodoyabashi Station,
saw the beautifully decorated facade of Osaka City Hall,
and even took some couple shots at the photo zone street next to City Hall.

After my walk, when I returned to my room, I noticed that from the room itself,
the illumination street was visible?!
You can also see Osaka City Hall and Yodoyabashi Street from the 17th-floor lobby and 31st-floor Sky Spa!
At Candeo The Tower Hotel, the lobby is on the 17th floor,
and rooms are assigned on higher floors, so the night view is absolutely insane (p)!
I highly recommend enjoying the illumination while having a spa,
and taking photos through the full-length windows in the lobby!
