It's a bustling hub, much like a vibrant food market you might find in any major city, packed with delicious street food, fresh fruits, and incredible seafood stalls. Naturally, it's a huge draw for tourists and locals alike.

During my recent trip to Osaka, while exploring Kuromon Market, I heard about a 24-hour supermarket hidden right inside. As someone who loves a good grocery store adventure, I knew I had to check it out immediately!

Nakagawa Supermarket is a 24-hour grocery store located right in the heart of Kuromon Market.

I always make it a point to explore local supermarkets whenever I'm in Japan, and this trip was no exception. It was a definite must-do on my itinerary.

Being just about a 5-minute walk from my accommodation and open 24/7, it was incredibly convenient for those late-night snack runs or grabbing essentials anytime.

Since it's nestled within Kuromon Market, it's perfect for combining with your market exploration. You can easily pop in while you're already browsing the surrounding stalls.

With countless seafood, fruit, and food vendors nearby, it felt natural to combine my supermarket visit with a broader shopping experience at Kuromon Market, rather than making a separate trip just for the store.

With fruits and groceries displayed right out front and a large sign, it was easy to spot.

In the fruit section, vibrant strawberries were the first thing that caught my eye.

Overall, the fruit prices seemed reasonable, and they offered smaller portions, which is perfect for tourists who just want to grab a quick snack.

I'm not sure why, but whenever I visit a Japanese supermarket, I always find myself taking a picture of the green onion section!

They also had a selection of ready-to-eat fried foods.

Even though it was evening and many items were already sold out, there were still plenty of options like karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and various tempura, perfect for a late-night snack. The prices were even better than at convenience stores.

The deli section also featured okonomiyaki and yakitori.

Since our accommodation was close by, we grabbed one of each and enjoyed them with some drinks as a late-night treat – they were quite tasty! :)

The beverage aisle offered a wide variety of choices.

From teas and coffees to juices, sodas, and bottled water, it was a great place to stock up on drinks for the hotel room, or grab a small bottle of water or tea to carry around while exploring.

No supermarket trip is complete without checking out the alcohol section!

While there was a decent selection, the prices weren't significantly different from convenience stores. So, it didn't offer a huge incentive to come here specifically for alcohol, which was a bit disappointing.

They also had a small section for Japanese shochu.

However, the variety wasn't extensive, so if you're a serious connoisseur looking for specific alcoholic beverages, I'd recommend heading to a dedicated liquor store instead.

We were mainly focused on grocery shopping, so this was the section I was most excited about.

They had various dressings and sauces, including the popular Kewpie mayonnaise, but the grocery section wasn't as large as I had hoped.

Every time I come to Japan, I usually just grab cup noodles, but this time I decided to buy some packaged ramen as well.

There was a pretty good selection of cup noodles too.

While not an overwhelming variety, they stocked most of the popular Japanese brands and flavors.

I can never pass up the ice cream section when I'm in Japan! While the selection wasn't huge, they had a decent range of popular ice cream varieties.

I visited Nakagawa Supermarket after hearing reviews that it offered good quality at reasonable prices within Kuromon Market.

However, I felt it wasn't quite ideal for extensive souvenir shopping or stocking up on a wide variety of items, especially when compared to larger stores like Fukuoka's Lop-Eat or Life Supermarkets.

The 24-hour operation was definitely a major plus, and the prices for prepared foods like bento boxes and sushi were quite good, making it a solid choice for grabbing a quick meal to enjoy back at your accommodation.

If you're staying near Kuromon Market or need a place to shop late at night, Nakagawa Supermarket is a good option. However, if you're looking for a larger, more spacious, and perhaps more comfortable shopping experience, I'd recommend checking out the nearby AEON Food Style instead.
