Robata Sushi Hana Fukushima: Osaka's Must-Try Local Izakaya
Seeking an authentic Osaka dining experience? Head to Robata Sushi Hana Fukushima, a local favorite near Umeda offering incredible value and genuine Japanese flavors.

Osaka Umeda: Recommended Value-for-Money Izakaya
Robata Sushi Hana Ura Fukushima
When you're exploring Osaka, Umeda is a place you'll definitely find yourself visiting at least once.
Among its many charms, I want to recommend an izakaya that boasts both a fantastic location and incredible value for money.
Location

Robata Sushi Hana Ura Fukushima is conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from Fukushima Station, which is the station right after Osaka's Umeda Station.
Unlike the bustling Umeda Station area, it's nestled in a quiet neighborhood and is a popular spot frequented by locals.

Interior Atmosphere

The interior features a clean, woody tone, with a long U-shaped counter arranged around the kitchen.

It's an open kitchen, which was great because you can see the entire cooking process.
It's fun to watch and wonder what delicious dish will come next!

The second floor is similar but has a slightly calmer atmosphere and also offers table seating.

You can hang your coats on the wall and store your bags and other belongings there too.
Menu

The menu is quite diverse, ranging from sashimi and sushi
to grilled seafood dishes. If you love seafood,
you'll have a tough time deciding what to order because there are so many tempting options!

Ordering is super easy via QR code.
You can also view a menu in Korean.
I decided to order the course menu called 'Adult's Play with Fire'!
Course Review

You can't have an izakaya experience without beer and lemon sour!
Japanese draft beer is on another level – it's so good, you might just get addicted! 🌟

First up was the appetizer: yam juice.

I don't usually enjoy yam, so I was a bit worried,
but it turned out to be surprisingly clean and delicious!
The sticky texture was quite unique.

You even get to choose your own chopstick rest,
and these small touches really make the experience memorable!
I picked the pig and the character in a kimono!

Next up, the second appetizer: a fresh salad.
This vibrant vegetable salad is perfect for refreshing your palate between courses.

For the first main course, we had seasonal fruit with cured ham and cheese.
When I visited, it was strawberries and oranges,
and they paired surprisingly well with the cheese and ham!
It was a fantastic sweet-and-savory start to the meal.

Next was one-day dried firefly squid,
along with shiitake mushrooms and asparagus.
They pour broth into the shiitake mushrooms and grill them,
and after grilling for a while, when the broth has soaked in, the umami is out of this world!

Then came the assorted 5-piece sashimi platter.
Fresh sashimi, including tuna, salmon, and cuttlefish,
was served in thick, delicious slices.
Absolutely no fishy smell! If you're ordering à la carte instead of the course menu,
you absolutely *must* try the sashimi.

Next was Toro Iwashi (Fatty Sardine).
It looked exactly like something out of a Japanese manga or anime!
This grilled fish had no trace of fishiness,
and the flesh was incredibly tender.
Since I'm a big fan of fish, this was personally
my absolute favorite pick!

The sushi featured similar types of fish as the sashimi,
but uniquely, the rice, called 'Kuroshari,' was black!
It wasn't just about the visual appeal; the black rice was chewier and had a stronger flavor
compared to regular white shari.

Two large prawns are served,
and look how big they are, right?
The prawns themselves have a delicate flavor, and with a squeeze of lemon
and a dip in salt, they're wonderfully savory and nutty – just perfect!

For the final dessert, matcha ice monaka and
green tea are served.
These days, there's a matcha craze sweeping Japan, I've noticed.
The flavor was incredibly rich, making it the perfect way to finish the meal!
A truly authentic izakaya, packed with locals –
Robata Sushihana Urafukushima Branch!
With a great atmosphere and excellent value for money,
it's very popular, so I highly recommend making a reservation before you go!
