I can confidently say that my number one pick was Ine Funaya.
Let me share why I chose it as my top destination and why you should consider visiting Ine Funaya on your next Osaka trip.

I always make sure to explore the charming towns nearby.

The prices for these three small-town tours are similar, ranging from ~$35 to ~$42,
but the time commitment, atmosphere, and crowd levels differed significantly.
✔Kobe & Nara was great for families with children, offering a simpler, more straightforward travel experience.
✔Ine Funaya was perfect for healing, relaxation, and enjoying beautiful scenery. It also had many delicious restaurants,
making it my personal number one choice.
*The schedule allowed for plenty of time, making me want to return with my parents.
✔Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera, as a representative tourist spot,
was a good introduction if you're looking for your first Osaka day trip.
However, be prepared for crowds, as it can get very busy.
2. Itinerary & Duration

The bus tour I chose was with Rakoo Tour.
My reasons for choosing them were primarily these:
Why I Chose Rakoo Tour Among Many Agencies |
1. Smooth and organized guidance from the tour leader. |
2. Shared lists of excellent restaurants and cafes (delicious finds!). |
3. The guide took amazing photos (got some incredible shots!). |
You can expect the itinerary and travel time to be approximately 10 hours.
Since we were heading to the northern part of Kyoto, which is a bit of a distance,
the travel time was a bit long, but it allowed us to relax and enjoy the journey comfortably.
There were many passengers from older generations, which made me think I definitely want to bring my parents here someday.
3. Destination Reviews

October-November 2026 offers pleasant weather, making it the perfect season to visit Ine Funaya.
As of October 1st, 2026, the weather was clear and cool, ideal for exploring, as you can see.

After boarding the bus, we made a quick stop at the Nishiki Rest Stop for restrooms and snacks.
Our first main destination was Amanohashidate.

Our guide mentioned that Amanohashidate was even better than the traditional boathouse village, and once I saw it, I understood 1000%.

To reach Viewland, you can take either a monorail or a chairlift. We paid the ~$6 admission fee to go up.
*Admission fee of ~$6 is separate.
Once at the top, we could admire the landscape of 8,000 pine trees arranged in a map-like pattern.
They say if you view it upside down, it resembles a dragon ascending to the sky, so everyone was striking that pose for photos, and I joined in!

Afterward, we checked out the sky bicycle and merry-go-round.
Viewland has rides that kids can enjoy, so we saw many locals visiting for picnics and field trips.

After enjoying Viewland and grabbing some pudding, we rode the chairlift back down,
taking in the beautiful panoramic views of Amanohashidate.
(Monorail is also an option for those who prefer it)

Thanks to the generous time allocation, we rented bicycles after descending and explored the pine forest path.

While a 2-hour rental is common, my friend and I felt 1 hour would be enough, so we rented for 1 hour at a cost of ~$3.

Before our bike ride, we picked up a crab rice bowl bento box from a restaurant our guide recommended.
We enjoyed our lunch picnic-style while cycling and sightseeing.

There are two ways to explore the pine forest path and the small town: by bicycle or by boat.
A friend who had visited before highly recommended cycling, and I found it much more relaxing than a boat tour,
allowing us to explore every nook and cranny.

The scenery and weather were unbelievably beautiful, and it was truly a healing experience,
ranking it as my favorite among all the small towns I've visited.

My friend and I rode our bikes, enjoying the cool breeze and exploring the area.
Taking a side path, we even discovered a beautiful beach!
Being able to enjoy such diverse charms in one small town was a huge appeal.

Next, we moved to Ine Funaya, the traditional boathouse village.
The boathouse village is small and can be explored quickly.

There are also many cafes serving delicious coffee, so we enjoyed a relaxing drink while admiring the scenery!
Additionally, our guide expertly captured perfect photos of us with the boathouse village as a backdrop,
making this day trip an even more cherished memory.
If you're looking for an Osaka day trip bus tour, I highly recommend visiting Ine Funaya & Amanohashidate this autumn, it's the perfect time!
