You can't visit Osaka without diving into some incredible okonomiyaki. Our Osaka trip was all about Universal Studios and a serious food adventure, and after much research, Ajikuraya topped our list.
We heard buzz about Ajikuraya from popular shows, with hosts raving about its deliciousness, and we had to see what the hype was about.

2. Ajikuraya Reservations & Interior Vibe

Unsure about our schedule, we decided to risk it and go without a reservation.
Even arriving past dinner rush, around 8:30 PM, we still had a significant wait. While there wasn't a line outside, the restaurant was completely packed. It took a while for tables to be cleared and new guests to be seated, which was a little frustrating. We definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit!
Booking is super convenient directly through Google Maps.

The restaurant felt larger than we expected. There were a couple of long tatami seating areas, a bar counter right by the kitchen, and plenty of four-person tables – about 9 or 10 of them.
The place was spotless, and the staff were incredibly friendly.
Even late in the evening, we saw quite a few Japanese locals, which is always a good sign! It's not just a tourist trap, but a genuine local favorite.
3. What to Order at Ajikuraya: Our Menu Picks

The menu is accessible via a QR code at your table. While it offers an English option, the translation can be a bit awkward. Our tip? Don't be afraid to point at what other diners are having or use image search if you're unsure!
Anyway, we managed to place our order. Oh, and Japanese draft beer? It's on another level entirely!
We enjoyed our refreshing draft beer, and soon after, our first dish arrived.
This grilled offal dish was absolutely incredible! The seasoning was perfectly savory with a hint of spice – definitely a winner with our beers. It had a kick that might be considered spicy for some Japanese palates, but for us, it was the ideal salty, flavorful companion to a cold brew.
We initially wanted to try the grilled intestines that another famous foodie raved about, but it was sold out. This offal dish was a fantastic substitute and highly recommended!
Just a heads-up: if you're very sensitive to salt or usually opt for low-sodium meals, this might be a bit rich for you. But for us and my husband, it was perfection!

After ordering another Chuhai, our okonomiyaki arrived.
I'm usually quite sensitive to the smell of eggs, so I tend to be picky. But Japanese eggs are consistently amazing – no strange odors at all!
The okonomiyaki was, of course, delicious. However, after the unexpected delight of the grilled offal, the okonomiyaki felt a bit more like a 'known quantity.' It's definitely a dish where the sauce plays a starring role!

You'll find bonito flakes (katsuobushi) on the table, so you can sprinkle as much as you like.
Because the menu translation was so clunky, we accidentally ordered the wrong yakisoba, and it wasn't great – hence no photo! Our advice? If you're struggling with the menu, take a peek at what other customers are eating and point, or use a translation app with image recognition!
With its late operating hours, Ajikuraya is a fantastic spot to wind down your day in Osaka.
While it's not in the absolute busiest part of town, its proximity to the subway makes it easily accessible, and the simple reservation process is a huge plus.
Osaka has countless okonomiyaki joints, but if you're looking for a clean, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely delicious food, Ajikuraya comes highly recommended!
