On the first day of our trip, we took a morning flight from Incheon Airport
and arrived at Kansai Airport in Osaka.
We flew with Peach Aviation. Online check-in isn't available, and they only opened the check-in counter 2 hours and 30 minutes before departure,
which made arriving 3 hours early feel pointless.
What's more, the airport was very crowded that day,
and it took a long time to get through immigration,
so we barely made our flight on time.
If you're flying with Peach Aviation, I strongly recommend arriving 3 hours early
and lining up at the check-in counter in advance.

If you fly with Peach Aviation, you'll arrive at Kansai Airport Terminal 2,
and to get to the city center, you'll need to take a shuttle bus
to Terminal 1.
The clear directions were very helpful.

There are three ways to get to the city center: Rapi:t, Airport Express Subway,
and Bus.
The most recommended option is, of course, the Rapi:t!
Not only does it take less time,
but it also has assigned seats and spacious luggage storage,
and the interior is incredibly comfortable and pleasant.
Time | Cost | |
Rapi:t | 40 min | ~$10 |
Airport Express | 50 min | ~$7 |
Bus | 50 min | ~$10 |
If you buy a Rapi:t ticket on-site, it's about ~$11,
but it's even cheaper if you book in advance.
Among various travel websites, Klook offers it for ~$10,
which is about ~$1 cheaper than other sites!!

As soon as we arrived at Namba Station, we headed straight for Ichiran Ramen.
I had it before during a trip to Fukuoka and loved it so much that
I wanted to try it again.
Although it's a very famous place and often has long queues,
there are many Ichiran branches in Dotonbori, Osaka,
and since they operate 24 hours a day, when we went at an off-peak time,
we were seated right away!

And from Ichiran Dotonbori Annex,
we headed to our hotel, an 8-minute walk away!
Looking for a value-for-money hotel in Osaka,
the room was quite small, but the facilities were incredibly clean, and
the bathroom was **separated into a shower + bathtub/toilet**, so
after visiting Universal Studios on the second day, I took a **half-bath** and
all my fatigue melted away, which was very satisfying.

After checking in, we walked back out to Dotonbori,
and as we browsed various souvenir shops, Dotonbori's unique three-dimensional signboards,
Uniqlo, Adidas, and more, it quickly grew dark.

We had dinner at Maruju Sushi,
a local sushi spot I'd looked up on Google beforehand.
With a Google Maps rating of 4.6 and its name not appearing in Korean,
it seemed like a hidden gem less known to Koreans.
Fortunately, there was no waiting, so we were seated right away,
but the difference in deliciousness between the sushi types was really significant.
The uni (sea urchin), tuna, and raw shrimp were delicious,
but the mackerel I'd had in Korea was better.

Even though the Dotonbori River isn't particularly stunning,
since we were in a city with a river, I really wanted to take a **river cruise**, so
I bought tickets in advance and booked our preferred time slot.
Normally, people use the Osaka Amazing Pass for this,
but since we planned to spend the entire second day at Universal Studios,
buying the Amazing Pass would have been more expensive for us, so
we **purchased separate river cruise tickets**.
If you're not particularly interested in theme parks,
it's more advantageous to buy a 1-day or 2-day Amazing Pass and
explore various tourist attractions during your 2-night, 3-day trip.
**Klook offers the 1-day Osaka Amazing Pass** for about ~$1 less than KKDAY or MyRealTrip,
while **MyRealTrip offers Dotonbori River Cruise tickets** for
about ~$2 less than other sites.

After having takoyaki as a snack, we did some souvenir shopping at
**Don Quijote** right next door,
and thus wrapped up a truly fulfilling first day of our 2-night, 3-day Osaka trip.

Day 2
Universal Studios

Yakiniku Hifumi

On the second day, we woke up at dawn
and did an **open run at Universal Studios Japan**.
For your reference, Universal Studios Japan
**usually opens earlier** than the official opening time stated on the app.
If you can wake up early, I recommend getting there
at least an hour before the official opening time.

I wanted to go to Super Nintendo World, but since I decided on the trip somewhat last minute,
tickets that included a guaranteed entry slot for Nintendo World were already sold out.
In such cases, there are 2 ways to enter Nintendo World:
The first is to do an open run like I did.
The second is to purchase an Express Pass that includes an attraction located in Nintendo World.
If the Express Pass **includes a Nintendo World attraction**,
you **can enter without a separate guaranteed entry or timed-entry ticket**.

After an exciting day at the amusement park, we had dinner near our accommodation at
Yakiniku Hifumi, where we indulged in some delicious meat.
On our way back from Universal Studios,
we scoured the map for a yakiniku restaurant close to our lodging,
and stumbled upon a highly-rated spot.
The main branch we initially planned to visit had a 4.8-star rating,
but with very limited seating and fully booked reservations, dining there was impossible.
So, we headed to the second branch, which had a 4.3-star rating, making us a little worried.
Contrary to our concerns, the interior was spacious, with group seating available further inside,
and the food was absolutely delicious, making it the perfect end to our day!

Kani Doraku

The last day of our Osaka trip arrived far too quickly!
Even though it was a short trip, we felt we absolutely had to see a landmark,
so we set off bright and early for Osaka Castle,
which was a bit of a distance from our accommodation.
If you have the Osaka Amazing Pass, you can really make the most of it at Osaka Castle alone.
By enjoying admission to the Main Tower (Tenshukaku), Nishinomaru Garden, and the Gozabune boat ride,
and taking just one subway ride,
you can easily recover the cost of a 1-day Osaka Amazing Pass.
However, we only had a short time to explore in the morning,
as we needed to head back to Dotonbori for lunch,
so we just enjoyed walking through the park and seeing the surrounding area.

While many people were entering the Tenshukaku (Main Tower),
we heard that the view from inside wasn't particularly stunning,
so we opted for the Osaka Castle-view cafe right next door instead.
It was quite chaotic with many people below,
but arriving right when the cafe opened, it was peaceful and quiet.
With the beautiful scenery and perfect weather, it was an ideal spot to relax and unwind.

Our short but sweet 2-night, 3-day Osaka trip concluded with
a crab course meal at Kani Doraku.
As someone who loves seafood, especially crustaceans,
this was a dish that simply couldn't disappoint my palate.
We usually enjoy snow crab steamed, but here, we had it prepared in various ways,
allowing us to savor different flavors depending on the cooking method.
However, it was a bit on the pricier side,
so next time, I'd love to hunt for some hidden local gems instead.
