🦐 Who should visit Oepo Port Seafood Market on Ganghwa Island?
✔︎ Travelers exploring Ganghwa Island, Incheon
✔︎ Anyone looking for authentic local food experiences
✔︎ Fans of Korean salted/fermented seafood (Jeotgal) and salted shrimp
✔︎ Foodies wanting to browse vibrant, local seafood stalls

Before I started visiting Ganghwa Island regularly,
I used to head over to Daemyeong Port in Gimpo.
But lately, since I make trips to Ganghwa so often, I find myself
buying fresh sashimi directly from Oepo Port Seafood Market.
Though I've been here multiple times, I'm excited to finally share
my honest review of this local coastal market.

The parking lot is quite large. It can get a bit crowded on weekends,
but you can usually find a spot within a couple of minutes,
making the experience stress-free right from the start.

Here is a local insider tip!
Do you see those food trucks selling grilled dried filefish (Jwipo)?
They are absolutely delicious here. You have to try them!
Even if I'm not planning to buy fish, I always stop by
for a bag of Jwipo whenever I see the truck.
A popular local way to enjoy it is pairing it with peanuts for a nutty crunch!
(Personally, I like it plain, but my parents swear by the peanut combination.)
Exploring Inside Oepo Port Seafood Market

Since I usually visit massive fish markets like Noryangjin or Mapo,
Oepo Port felt a bit cozy and intimate at first glance.
But don't let the size fool you—it has absolutely everything you need.

Because this market is famous for fermented seafood (Jeotgal),
you will find an incredible variety of salted shrimp and delicacies.
If you want to experience authentic Korean culinary staples,
browsing these colorful stalls is highly recommended.

Beyond fermented seafood, there are plenty of fresh blue crabs, conch, and clams.
It's a great place to pick up fresh ingredients.
If you are planning a weekend getaway or camping trip on Ganghwa Island,
grabbing some fresh seafood or sashimi here is the perfect plan, right?

Another great plus is that the public restrooms are very clean,
which always makes exploring local markets much more comfortable.
Where Should You Buy Your Seafood?

I usually have a go-to stall, but as I walked past 'Dongnam No. 2',
their clean and organized packaging caught my eye.
I decided to try them out today, and the quality was so good
that I wanted to share them with you.

Living up to the market's reputation, Dongnam No. 2 offers
a wide variety of high-quality fermented seafood,
making it a must-visit for foodies looking to bring home authentic flavors.

They also have incredibly fresh fish ready for sashimi,

and a fantastic selection of clams and shellfish to choose from.

You can buy pre-sliced plates, or have them slice the fish fresh on the spot.
Because this is a popular spot, the turnover rate is incredibly fast.
While we were waiting for our order, five pre-packed plates were sold! 😂
That high turnover definitely guarantees freshness.

We ordered three plates of raw fish and some fresh conch, and they packed it beautifully.
Super clean and neat, isn't it?

We enjoyed the raw fish first and then moved on to the conch.
I was so excited eating the conch that I forgot to take a photo,
but it was incredibly chewy and delicious!
The raw fish was sliced slightly on the thinner side, which seems to be
the general style across Oepo Port, rather than just this stall.
Aside from that, it was wonderfully fresh and flavorful.
Honestly, I enjoyed it even more than my previous go-to spot! haha.

✔︎ Final Thoughts on Oepo Port Seafood Market
While the early closing hours require a bit of planning,
the incredible variety of fermented seafood and the freshness of the sashimi make it worth it.
If you are wondering where to buy fresh seafood on Ganghwa Island, definitely stop by!
