On our recent New York honeymoon, my spouse and I found ourselves at a steakhouse three times in one week! It was our first meal right after landing, and we discovered an incredible value for lunch at Gallagher's Steakhouse, a spot that truly shines during midday.
In New York, where dining out is notoriously pricey, we managed a delicious steak lunch for two for around ~$105. Here's our full review of this fantastic find!

1. Gallagher's Steakhouse NYC: Location & How to Reserve
Most popular New York restaurants handle reservations through platforms like Resy or OpenTable. For Gallagher's, we used OpenTable.

Even though it was a holiday, reservations weren't overly competitive. We booked for 2:00 PM, giving us plenty of time after arriving in New York. While not impossible to get in, making a reservation is highly recommended!
📍 Gallagher’s Steakhouse NYC
228 W 52nd St, New York, NY 10019 USA
Gallagher's Steakhouse is conveniently located on 52nd Street. Given that Broadway is just a few blocks away (around 46th-47th Street), it's easily walkable.
Our hotel, The Muse New York, was super close to Times Square. We dropped off our luggage before check-in and strolled over.

With its signature red carpet and canopy, Gallagher's Steakhouse is hard to miss. Our first meal in New York was off to a grand start!
2. Gallagher's Steakhouse Lunch Hours, Waiting & Atmosphere

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by their impressive display of dry-aged meats.
Although we had a 2:00 PM reservation, we finished immigration quickly and decided to try our luck at 1:00 PM. We ended up waiting for about 40 minutes.
There isn't a dedicated waiting area; guests awkwardly stand near the central bar while others dine. It's definitely more comfortable to stick to your reservation time!

The restaurant features both traditional table seating and some bar-style seating. Gallagher's is quite popular among Korean tourists looking for a good value steak in New York; we noticed at least four or five other Korean groups during our visit.
Gallagher's lunch hours run daily from opening (11:45 AM) until 3:45 PM.
3. Gallagher's Steakhouse Menu: The Lunch Course
What makes Gallagher's a fantastic value in New York is its lunch special course, priced at just $34 per person, or about ~$38!

This is the full menu, with the "THREE COURSE LUNCH SPECIAL $34" prominently displayed in the center.

It's a straightforward three-course meal: choose one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. Simple, right?
We decided to upgrade one of our main courses to lamb chops for an additional $22 and ordered one Coke.
Let's dive into what we chose with photos below 👇
4. Our Gallagher's Steakhouse Lunch Review

Before our order arrived, we were served complimentary bread. There were three varieties: plain, sesame-crusted, and raisin bread.
Having been fasting since our airplane meal, it was perfect for settling our stomachs. However, compared to Korean bread, it was a bit on the drier side, so we didn't finish it all.

For appetizers, we chose the Soup of the Day and Manhattan Clam Chowder. We thought, "Why bother with salad when we're in America?!" and opted for the soups... but the clam chowder wasn't the creamy white kind we expected; it was tomato-based, almost like a hangover soup!
On the other hand, the Soup of the Day wasn't particularly flavorful.

For our first main, we had the Sliced Filet Mignon, which is the tenderloin's thinner end. It came pre-sliced.
Garnishes included potatoes, mushrooms, and onions, served with a red wine sauce.
It tasted exactly as you'd expect a good steak to taste! However, because it was sliced, it lacked the satisfaction of cutting into a thick piece of meat. If you prefer a more substantial steak experience, you'd need to add $22 for the 8-ounce Filet Mignon.

Our second main was the Lamb Chops. Initially, we considered sticking to the budget and not paying the extra for lamb, but in hindsight, that $22 upgrade was definitely worth it!
Honestly, it wasn't just the lamb chops themselves but also the delicious side dishes: creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. When in America for steak, you simply must have creamed spinach and mashed potatoes, right? 😉
Overall, the meat was delicious, and we were very satisfied with this choice.

Despite how tasty everything was, the richness of the beef and lamb fat eventually got to me. I ordered a Coke, and it came in this adorable little bottle, which I had to snap a photo of! 🤎

For dessert, we had ice cream and New York-style cheesecake. This is where you really see the generous American portion sizes, isn't it? 😂
We enjoyed our entire three-course meal, including dessert, for about ~$113 for two people.

Here's a breakdown of our Gallagher's NYC lunch bill, including tip:
Lunch Special (2 people): $68
Coke: $5
Lamb Chop upgrade: $22
The total, including tax, came to $103. Given it was lunch, we left an 18% tip, bringing our total to roughly $120.
Considering New York's reputation for high prices, getting a steak meal for two for around ~$113 felt pretty reasonable, don't you think?
