Where to Stay in Phu Quoc, Vietnam: Novotel Resort Recommendation

Phu Quoc can be broadly divided into three main regions: the North, the Central area, and the South. Most travelers choose to base themselves in the Central area. From there, they might spend a day heading up North to visit VinWonders or Grand World, and another day heading down South to check out Sunset Town or ride the famous cable car.

Even within the Central area, the hotels can be split based on their location relative to the airport: the northern side near King Kong Mart, and the southern side near Sonasea. Today, I’m sharing my review of the Novotel Phu Quoc Resort, located in the southern Sonasea area.

Resorts in Central Phu Quoc

In the Sonasea area, the two most popular properties are the Novotel Phu Quoc Resort and the Best Western Premier Sonasea. Both are prime examples of excellent central accommodations. Since I’ve already covered the Best Western in a previous post, we'll skip that for today and focus entirely on the Novotel!

Novotel Phu Quoc Superior Room

The room I stayed in was a Superior Room. Since I had plans right after arrival, I quickly checked in at the lobby and ran out, which is why these room photos were taken later that night.

The bathroom was stocked with all the essential amenities, and there was a cozy, compact balcony table outside—perfect for a quick morning coffee or evening wind-down.

As a staple of central Phu Quoc hotel recommendations, the room was overall very clean, comfortable, and solid—exactly what you’d expect from a trusted brand.

I took quite a few photos, but I thought a video would show the spread much better! From bakeries to a wide variety of hot dishes, they have a live egg-cooking station and even a selection of Korean kimchi.

My absolute favorite part was the fruit station. With around 10 different varieties on offer, it was a blast trying them all! Back home, I rarely eat breakfast, so when I'm abroad, I usually stick to light options like fruit and cereal. Getting to taste so many different fresh tropical fruits was a huge plus. If you love breakfast, especially fresh fruit, this place is highly recommended!

Finally, we can’t forget the pools—a highlight of any resort stay! There’s a main pool right in front of the building for easy access, and if you walk just a bit closer to the beach, you'll find another gorgeous infinity pool where you can swim while gazing out at the ocean.

Keep walking past that second pool, and you’ll hit the beach. It’s a lovely sandy shore, but to be completely honest, strolling along the sand was just a bit too hot in that midday heat! I snapped these pool photos in the morning, and it was wonderfully uncrowded and peaceful—the perfect vibe for a refreshing dip.

Novotel Phu Quoc Resort follows the standard check-in and check-out times typical of most Vietnamese resorts, and they also greet you with a refreshing welcome tea upon arrival.
