How to Book Tickets for Notre-Dame de Paris
Interior Access, Bell Tower, and Paris Museum Pass Guide
Immortalized by Victor Hugo's classic tale, the Hunchback of Notre-Dame,
the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is an absolute must-visit.
After the devastating 2019 fire, access to the iconic bell towers was closed for a long time,
but they have finally reopened to the public, allowing travelers to climb up once again!
Today, I will walk you through how to book Notre-Dame Cathedral tickets, secure tower reservations,
and offer some crucial tips for exploring the interior so your first visit goes perfectly smooth.

Cathedral Interior Reservations

First and foremost, admission to the main interior of Notre-Dame is free.
While booking in advance is not strictly mandatory, it is highly recommended
because, as you can see, the standby lines get incredibly long.
I booked my slot in advance and walked right in
without waiting in the main queue at all.

🔺Official Ticket Reservation Website🔺

General admission reservations open exactly 48 hours in advance
on the official website.
Note that depending on your home country, the booking system might geoblock external IPs.
If you encounter issues, you may need to use a VPN set to France
or simply book it right after you land in Paris.

I booked mine once I arrived in Paris. Since the booking window opens
exactly two days prior, finding an open slot was quite straightforward.
Be sure to save the PDF ticket or screenshot the QR code
to show the staff at the entrance.

🔺Official Tower Booking Website🔺
Unlike the cathedral floor, climbing the towers requires a paid ticket.
Reservations open about 3 months in advance,
and on-site ticket sales are not available. You must book online!
You do not need a VPN to access this tower booking portal from abroad.

Please keep in mind that the tower booking system is separate from the main cathedral site.
Make sure to use the dedicated tower link provided above.

Individual tickets for adults cost 16 Euros (approx. $17).
However, I used my Paris Museum Pass to book for free!

If you plan on visiting other major spots like the Louvre and Musée d'Orsay,
purchasing a Paris Museum Pass is by far the most economical choice.
Currently, WAUG offers some of the best rates for the Museum Pass.
By booking through the link above, you can secure an extra ~$6 discount coupon,
making it super easy to grab your e-ticket instantly!

I didn't realize that tower bookings opened months in advance
and checked just two days before. Unfortunately, almost all time slots
were already completely sold out...
Please learn from my mistake and book yours early!

You do not need to create a complex account; simply input your email
and select the Museum Pass option to book for $0.
Once finished, your PDF confirmation will be sent straight to your inbox.

Keep this ticket handy on your phone to show the staff
right before you ascend the towers.
Entering the Cathedral

The queue on the left is for standby visitors without reservations,
while the line on the right is reserved for ticket holders.

The ticket line might look long, but it is actually just people waiting for the next timeslot.
If you arrive exactly at your scheduled time, you can scan your code
and walk inside almost instantly.
Of course, lines can still build up during the peak summer travel season.
Inside Notre-Dame de Paris

Once inside, the floor plan actually feels a bit more compact
than the massive exterior structure suggests.
Even though the crowds are large, most visitors move through in about 15 minutes
before heading out or moving to the towers, making the interior walk surprisingly comfortable.

The towering stained-glass windows, the legendary Rose Window, and the grand pipe organ
are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing them in person is a serene, majestic experience
that will leave you in complete awe.

As for the towers, even if you manage to secure a booking, keep in mind that
you will need to climb 424 steep stone steps. Ensure you have the stamina
and comfortable footwear before committing to the climb!

Ever since the post-fire grand reopening, securing tower tickets has become highly competitive.
Make sure to lock in your reservations early to avoid missing out on this historic landmark! :)
