Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car in Hong Kong
Written & Photographed by Yullo
Hi everyone, it is Yullo!
When planning my trip to Hong Kong, one of the experiences I was most excited about was the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car.
As one of Hong Kong's premier attractions, it offers a breathtaking, bird's-eye view of Lantau Island's stunning natural beauty.
Like many travelers, I spent a lot of time debating whether to book the Crystal Cabin or the Standard Cabin.
To spoil the ending: the Standard Cabin was absolutely fantastic and more than exceeded my expectations.
Here is my complete guide, from booking tips to my personal experience on board.

Ngong Ping 360 Cabin Types
There are three different cabin options you can choose from:
Standard Cabin, Crystal Cabin, and the Crystal Plus Cabin.
Cabin Type | Glass Windows | Glass Floor |
Standard | Yes | No |
Crystal | Yes | Yes |
Crystal Plus (360 View) | Yes | Yes |
Ngong Ping 360 Ticket Price Comparison (Round Trip)
While you can purchase tickets at the gate, the lines can get incredibly long, especially during peak tourist seasons.
I highly recommend booking your tickets online in advance.
With an e-ticket, you can simply scan the QR code and skip the ticket booth lines, making your itinerary run much smoother.
Platform | Price (Standard Round Trip) | Link |
Klook | ~$28 | |
MyRealTrip | ~$30 | |
Trip.com | ~$31 |
Based on my research, Klook offers the best rates for the round-trip Standard Cabin ticket.

Why I Chose the Standard Cabin
The Crystal Cabin features a glass-bottom floor, which offers a unique, thrilling perspective, but it comes at a higher price point.
Since my main goal was simply to enjoy the panoramic mountain and ocean views comfortably, I opted for the Standard Cabin.
During the ride, I never felt like I was missing out by not having a glass floor.
Saving those extra dollars allowed us to budget more for amazing local food and other experiences in Hong Kong!

Standard Cabin Ride Experience
The cable car route spans 3.5 miles, connecting Tung Chung with Ngong Ping Village, and the entire journey takes about 25 minutes.
As soon as we launched, the South China Sea and Hong Kong International Airport unfolded right before our eyes. The scale of the view was breathtaking.
As we climbed higher, the lush green peaks of Lantau Island came into view, offering endless photo opportunities.
Even without the glass floor, the massive panoramic windows provided an unobstructed, wide-angle view of the landscape.

If you are traveling with family or parents, this is an absolute must-do itinerary item!
My mother loved every minute of the scenic ride.
Final Thoughts
The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car was easily one of the highlights of my Hong Kong trip.
If you want to take unique, gravity-defying photos, go for the Crystal Cabin.
But if you simply want to immerse yourself in the gorgeous natural scenery, the Standard Cabin is more than perfect.
By booking our tickets in advance, we skipped the long ticket lines and enjoyed a stress-free start to our adventure.
