The Nankai Rapi:t is a dedicated airport limited express train operated by Nankai Electric Railway.
" Nankai Rapi:t = Osaka Rapi:t "
Here is a quick comparison between the Rapi:t and the regular Airport Express train:
Feature | Rapi:t | Airport Express |
Travel Time | 38 mins | 55 mins |
Fare | 1,450 JPY (~$10) | 980 JPY (~$7) |

Advance Booking | Yes | No |
✔️ If you are traveling with large suitcases, the Rapi:t is highly recommended.
✔️ It takes less time, and because all seats are reserved,
you can sit back and relax all the way to the city!
= Less travel fatigue!
2. Can I Buy Same-Day Tickets On-Site?

The short answer is ➞ Yes, you can!
Once you arrive at Kansai Airport, you can purchase tickets
on the spot at the Nankai Railway ticket counter or book same-day tickets online via Klook.
However, buying them in advance means you won't have to wait in long lines at the ticket counter.
I strongly suggest grabbing your same-day tickets
through Klook before you even clear customs!

✅ Location: Kansai Airport Terminal 1, 2nd Floor

✅ Payment: Cash / IC Cards / Credit Cards accepted
✅ Wait times: Can get quite long during peak arrival hours
3. How to Book Rapi:t Tickets Online

While on-site purchases are fine, I personally
always recommend booking in advance.
Here is why:
1) Advance tickets are often cheaper.
2) You get a QR code to skip the ticket counter line and go straight to the gates.
3) It's super easy to select your seats & change your boarding time.

I book ahead every time I fly into Osaka.
Skipping that massive line at the ticket counter is worth its weight in gold after a long flight.

5. Osaka Rapi:t Ride Review & Tips

I used the Trip.com promo code
to score my tickets below the regular price.
The best part? In the past, you had to exchange online bookings for physical tickets. Now, you can just scan your QR code
directly at the ticket gates.
( Zero waiting in line ❌ )

Keep in mind, if you book a day in advance, you can change your train time up to 2 times.
My flight was slightly delayed, so I easily updated
my train time right from the baggage claim.
✅ Changing your time is super intuitive
using the link provided in your voucher.

Every time I ride, I'm impressed by how
spacious and clean the interior is.
Since all seats are reserved, there's no mad dash for a spot.
You just find your seat and relax.
It's only a 38-minute ride, but the legroom is fantastic,
and the seats recline quite far back.
( They even have footrests! )

Here is a pro-tip: When selecting your seat online,
try to grab the very last row.
This allows you to slide your suitcase right behind your seat.

There are designated luggage racks near the doors,
but keeping it right behind you is just so much easier!
Note: There is no onboard Wi-Fi,
so make sure your eSIM or physical SIM is activated beforehand.

One minor downside is
there are no convenience stores right on the platform to grab a bento box or sandwich.
However, there are vending machines right in front of the gates,
so have some coins or your IC transit card ready for a quick drink! :)

Q. How and when can I change my train time?
You can change your train time up to 2 times after booking.

the convenience of booking online is unbeatable.
Reserve your seat, change times easily, and skip the lines!
