If you're planning a trip to Chiang Mai and love exploring markets,
there's one spot you absolutely have to check out.
It's the Nana Jungle Market!

1. What is Nana Jungle Market?
Nana Jungle Market is a local market in Chiang Mai
that only opens on Saturday mornings.
It's not a huge tourist-oriented market, but rather a charming, smaller weekend market
where you can truly soak in the local atmosphere,
browse unique goods, and discover delicious food.
While it's not massive,
the exclusivity of only being open on Saturday mornings adds to its special charm,
which is why I made sure to include it in my own Chiang Mai itinerary!
Chiang Mai Nana Jungle Market
Saturdays, 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM
📍 Nana Jungle Market
220 Jed Yod-Chang Kian Soi 5, Tambon Chang Phueak, Mueang, Chiang Mai 50300, Thailand

True to its name, Nana Jungle Market offers a relaxed, natural vibe,
nestled amidst lush greenery.
You'll find a delightful array of food, drinks,
unique crafts, and everyday items, making it a joy to explore.
It's not a place where you'd spend an entire day,
but I highly recommend adding it as a light and enjoyable stop
on your Saturday morning itinerary!

2. The Cacao Vendor at the Entrance
One of my most memorable encounters at Nana Jungle Market
was with the cacao vendor near the entrance!
At first, I thought he was just selling cacao drinks,
but I was fascinated to see actual, raw cacao pods on display.

Voila! These are real cacao pods, he told me!
Working in baking, I'm constantly around cocoa powder,
but it was only on this Chiang Mai trip that I saw what cacao actually looks like.
They were surprisingly large and truly impressive!

The vendor was always smiling as he prepared the drinks.
I got to watch him melt down cacao chocolate right before my eyes!

I asked him what his most popular drink was
and ordered the "Boom Boom Chocolate"!
The cacao vendor was absolutely delightful!
I'd love to go back again!

My Boom Boom Chocolate was a rich cacao drink
topped with whipped cream and pistachios.
Unlike typical light chocolate drinks,
this one was incredibly intense and satisfying!
Just one cup was quite filling,
it felt like a meal in itself!
Even if you're not a huge chocolate fan,
I think it's an experience worth trying at least once!

3. The Joy of Browsing
Beyond the delicious food, the market also offered
a variety of goods to browse.
I went in with no intention of buying anything specific,
but ended up purchasing two teacups as souvenirs!
While they weren't particularly inexpensive,
the fact that I hand-picked them during my travels
made them feel like a worthwhile keepsake to bring home!

My boyfriend loves drinking tea, and thanks to him,
I get to enjoy delicious tea regularly.
Even after the trip, using these teacups at home
reminds me of my time in Chiang Mai.
These little shopping moments truly add to the joy of traveling!
4. A Delightful Saturday Morning with Busking
What was also surprisingly enjoyable
was the busking performance at the market!
The live music playing while I explored the stalls
created an even more wonderful atmosphere.
There was no need for grand plans;
just holding a drink and strolling through the market,
listening to the music, was incredibly pleasant.
It felt like experiencing a different kind of relaxed Chiang Mai weekend morning,
away from the usual bustling tourist spots!

5. Final Thoughts
Nana Jungle Market isn't a massive market with countless attractions,
but its unique charm as a local Chiang Mai market
that only opens on Saturday mornings makes it well worth a visit.
If you're looking for a slightly different Saturday morning experience in Chiang Mai,
then Nana Jungle Market is the place to be!
It's perfect for a casual browse without a big itinerary,
and an excellent spot to soak in the laid-back, local weekend vibes. ❤️
