Hellooo there!
I'm Toffee(toffee), a bath + sauna lover 🤍
Following my last post about World Oncheon 24,
today I'm excited to introduce you to
Chuncheon Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak, which I visited on a weekend evening! ◡̈
Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak
Address | 10, Sportstown-gil 433beon-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do (Samcheon-dong 37-1)
Operating Hours | 11:00 - 21:50 (Not 24-hours ❌)
Regular closing days | Every Wednesday and Thursday
Reservation System | Reservations for the following month open on the last Wednesday of every month at 1 PM

Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak is an incredibly famous spot in Chuncheon!
It has a different atmosphere from a typical jjimjilbang, which made me even more curious to visit.
A jjimjilbang that operates by reservation... isn't that quite unique? 🤔

Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak has a maximum capacity of 40 people at one time,
which is why it mostly operates by reservation,
but walk-ins are also possible!
We were just relaxing in the evening, and since Namuhyanggi was the closest place to home,
Naver reservations were closed.
So we called to inquire (phone reservations aren't possible, but we asked if walk-ins were).
We received a reply saying it might be possible around 7 PM,
so we waited, got the call, and then headed off!
Still, we got lucky! Hehe 🍀

The parking lot is right at the entrance,
so after parking, you walk a short distance and Namuhyanggi appears!
We were almost the last ones, so most cars had left,
but it's usually packed...!
There aren't many parking spots, so it might be hard to find one on a weekend afternoon.

Here are the fees for Chuncheon Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak!
Focus 100 minutes ~$7
Basic 3 hours ~$8
Plus 5 hours ~$12
Half-day 7 hours ~$19
Since we went almost at closing time,
we chose the Focus package.
Exploring Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak
The vibe is absolutely incredible !!!

Once inside, you get a really serene and tranquil feeling...!!
I visited when the ice hadn't completely melted yet,
and it was truly wonderful. It felt less like just jjimjil and more like a healing retreat.
Entering Namuhyanggi

Chuncheon Namuhyanggi Hanjungmak
isn't structured like a typical bathhouse + jjimjilbang.
It only has simple shower facilities!
Since there are no large baths (tubs), rather than coming here specifically for a full sauna experience,
it's best to focus on the hanjungmak itself. 🌼
(To protect the thermal stimulation that has penetrated your acupressure points,
it's recommended to take only a light shower!)
In other words, there's no need to pack an elaborate bath basket;
I recommend just bringing simple shower essentials.

I changed into the jjimjil suit and came out,
and then I ran into *this one* (not my biological sibling)...
Of all the nerve... (definitely not *destiny* lol)

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
Haha haha
Namuhyanggi Relaxation Area & Foot Bath

Right in front of the changing rooms, there's a relaxation area like this.
As you'll see below, Namuhyanggi has many relaxation spaces throughout!
Also, because there are only a limited number of people allowed,
it felt more private, which was lovely 🤗

Right in front of the changing rooms, there's even a foot bath zone!
The water was warmer than I expected!
It would be a great idea to warm up by starting with a foot bath.
Namuhyanggi Snack Bar

I'm usually the type to warm up by grabbing a bite at the snack bar, haha!

Unfortunately, on this day, I had already eaten before coming, so after my jjimjil session,
I only managed to have some eggs and cup ramen. Such a shame! 😭
They have such a diverse menu, almost like a full-fledged restaurant!
Next time, I'll definitely come during the day and make sure to try out all their delicious offerings!
Namuhyanggi's Exterior & Second Floor

Outside, there were pavilions and other resting areas perfect for cooling down after a good sweat.
Coming out of the traditional sauna feels incredibly refreshing, but if you go when it's chilly out,
I feel like I wouldn't last more than a few seconds before rushing back inside, haha!

Heading up to the second floor, it was a 'WoW' moment!
There's a comic book room, cozy spots for heart-to-heart chats,
and even massage chairs available!
If only I had more time, I would have enjoyed every single one of them!
It was such a shame ㅠ.ㅠ

This was us before getting 'steamed' in the traditional sauna...
...our perfectly fresh and fluffy selves.
Namuhyanggi's Bulhanjeungmak (Traditional Fire Sauna)

The Hanjeungmak (traditional sauna) at Chuncheon Namuhyanggi
has just this one single traditional sauna!
Be warned, it's incredibly hot! 🔥
It's so hot in there that you can't even take your phone inside.
Everyone leaves their phones on the wooden shelf just outside before entering.
Ah, the famously reliable 🇰🇷 K-trust! 🇰🇷
There's even a speaker inside the Bulhanjeungmak, playing music... (how cool is that?!)

I always make sure to pack socks whenever I head to a jjimjilbang, but
when you visit Namuhyanggi, the traditional sauna floor can get seriously hot.
So, it's definitely a good idea to bring socks as an absolute must-have!
It's recommended to enjoy the traditional sauna for about 10 minutes, three times, or 5 minutes, five times.
And after each session, they say it's best to rest for about 30 minutes!
So, let's make sure to read up on how to use the Bulhanjeungmak, its history, and all its wonderful benefits
before we dive in and fully experience it!

What, in just 10 minutes..?
My face was a mess and I was sweating like crazy~
Haha, it really was hot, so rather than staying for a super long time,
it's best to follow the method I told you about earlier!!
As all that sweat poured out, we got so drowsy,
we just lay down for a bit, and guess what? We ended up sleeping for almost an hour! 😅
We both woke up quite flustered...
Namuhyangi Foot Massage

Having used up all our time sleeping,
we quickly scarfed down ramen and eggs before heading to wash up,
and even managed to squeeze in a fantastic foot massage.
One of the reasons I felt Namuhyangi Hanjjeungmak was so well-managed was that
it was written that you should wear plastic covers on both feet before getting a massage!
You could see they paid attention to every detail, making the whole experience satisfying right to the end.

for those looking for a jjimjilbang as a date spot,
or if you prefer something private with a great atmosphere,
it's also perfect for visiting with your parents! 👍

Since there are no baths, we recommend bringing only simple shower amenities instead of a lavish bath basket. Also, the floor of the hot hanjungmak can be very warm, so it's essential to bring socks.
