Named Coffee Madu: An Ilsan Cafe Review for 2026

After a delicious rice pot meal, my sister and I were ready for our second stop: a cozy cafe in Ilsan (일산). Our original plan was to visit a different cafe in Ilsan's Bamridangil (밤리단길) neighborhood that I'd been dreaming of, complete with checking its opening hours.

However, after getting off the bus and checking the map, we discovered it was unexpectedly closed for a temporary break! We were completely lost without a Plan B, having put all our eggs in one basket for that specific cafe. That's when my sister spotted **Named Coffee Madu (네임드커피 마두점)**, a cafe in Ilsan's Bamridangil.

The name itself was intriguing, and we later found out it has another branch, Named Coffee Jeongbalsan (네임드커피 정발산점), but the Madu branch seems to be the original.

Named Coffee Madu is a roastery cafe that began in 2017, nestled in the quiet residential area of Bamridangil.

Interior Atmosphere

It was quite busy, so taking photos freely was a bit challenging, but the long, expansive space, combined with a warm wood-toned interior, created a wonderfully calm and inviting atmosphere.

These photos were taken when the crowd thinned out a bit! Even with many customers, the overall vibe remained serene. It was also interesting to see a diverse range of ages enjoying the cafe.

Perhaps because it's a cafe that has held its spot for a long time, the space exuded a subtle sense of deep character and expertise.

They offered coffee beans for sale in 200g units, as well as larger quantities.

Postcards were also available for purchase, and it seemed like you could receive one by participating in a review event. I didn't end up joining the event myself.

From blend and brewing coffees to signature drinks, seasonal beverages, and non-coffee options, the menu was incredibly diverse.

A sign indicated that laptop and tablet usage is limited to two hours on weekends and holidays, but even during our visit, several people were working. The quiet and calm atmosphere makes it a great spot for focused work or study.

While they sold Basque cheesecake, egg tarts, scones, and cookies, we had just finished a hearty rice pot meal, so we decided to skip dessert.

Review of Our Order

We ordered the seasonal Orange Coffee and a warm Ethiopia Bentinanka Natural Brewing Coffee!

The Orange Coffee, a seasonal drink with an espresso shot mixed into orange juice, was a delightful surprise! We were instructed to mix it well, and when we did, the coffee and orange juice blended together perfectly. I even vowed to try making it at home! My sister, ever the quick executor, already tried it and said it turned out great!

The brewing coffee was equally satisfying. Perhaps in comparison to a coffee I had at another cafe the day before, sipping this filter coffee made me think, "Ah, *this* is what good coffee tastes like!"

Named Coffee was constantly bustling with visitors, including many local residents and loyal regulars.

Even though we couldn't visit our original cafe choice, discovering Named Coffee and enjoying its delicious Orange Coffee and brewing coffee made for a truly satisfying cafe tour!

I'll definitely have to visit that other cafe someday soon.
